Those are some pretty good price cuts there, many of these games have dropped in price by $3 or $4. Assassin’s Creed is definitely a winner and so is N.O.V.A. And who could forget the Avatar. Anthropomorphic squirrel girl? A skimpy outfit? A fighting game?! That is all in one neat little package right there. Or more like Blazblue: Continuum Shift is the package, and Makoto the squirrel girl is the bow on top for a bit of an extra fee. Arc System has released a bit of information about two DLC characters that will be available for the game on August 5th, a full month after Japanese release on July 1st, but only a few days past Aksys’ American release date of July 27th.
Makoto Nanaya is the new character to the lineup, but maybe not as new as one would think. If you have played the previous game of the series; Blazblue: Calamity Trigger and advanced in the storyline you will have noticed Makoto playing around with Noel and being a part of her storyline.
Turns out that there is much more to Makoto as she is now a fighter for purchase in Continuum Shift, though no price has been set on her. Also we do not yet know if the DLC itself will be available for both the Japanese audience and the American audience, but I’m really hoping it also comes to America.
Another fighter that is available for download is an old favorite in the form of Nu. She was originally not included in the sequel, but plays a pivotal part in the first game. Not as much of a new addition but fans of her fast paced fighting style and teleporting blades will be glad to see her come back.
We will be seeing the full game on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, and if you wish to read our review of Blazblue: Calamity Trigger you can do so here.
Sony has just released a bit of information about a brand new RPG coming out for the PS3 exclusively, and it will be out in September of this year. What is the game you ask? It relies heavily on alchemy, no it isn’t a Full Metal Alchemist game. It is Atelier Rorona, which was developed by Gust. It is the first entry to this series to ever reach American soils, while the rest of the Atelier series has been strictly released in Japan until now.
Here is a bit about the story itself for the upcoming JRPG:
Arland is a small kingdom that used to have a small, poor population. It has prospered recently thanks to newly recovered technology called the machines. Thanks to the machines, the people of Arland are able to live more convenient lives. Within the kingdom, there is a small alchemy shop where Rorona works for the owner, Astrid. The shop used to be successful, but because of the machines and Astrid’s laziness, no customers have come to the shop in a while. One day, a messenger from the kingdom visits the shop and Astrid and Rorona are hit with a dose of harsh reality. They must prove the worth of alchemy by completing all of their assignments over the next three years, or the kingdom will shut down their workshop!
Sounds a bit like Rorona is in a pinch, and that the main part of the story will involve doing various quests to silence the kingdom and their eviction notice. Quite an interesting premise if I do say so myself.
There is a new video that involves Microsoft’s own Scott Hinsen demonstrating the brand new Kinect dashboard interface. One interesting feature shown is that the Kinect will feature full facial recognition, allowing instant log on with a wave of the hand.
He also shows how the voice comands work as he navigates through the Zune Marketplace and tells the Kinect to do various actions related to watching a movie such as pausing and fast forwarding past boring parts.
A new video of the Kinect-controlled 360 dashboard has popped up, explaining how it’ll all work.
One thing that this brings to mind though, that while watching a movie or listening to music… what is to stop someone from coming in and telling it to stop or shut down. Will the Kinect have voice recognition as well to prevent this measure? Or will this be a new prank to be played on your room mates or siblings.
They first gave us The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition…and we all loved it! Then they started working on the second one…and we waited!…The wait will finally come to an end as LucasArts has announced that Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge will be launched on X-Box Live, PlayStation Network, Pc and Mac on July 7th!
Unfortunately if you’re waiting for the iPhone or iPad versions, they won’t come out now as they’re scheduled for the end of this summer.
The game follows the same formula as its predecessor but this time it has some twists! The hint system has been modified so that now you can highlight all the objects you can interact with by pressing L1 and there will be pop-up control options which will only show relevant actions related to an object, also Guybrush’s movements will be controlled via the analog stick.
The game will have unlockable concept art and developer’s commentaries allowing us to get some insight on different characters!
Publisher: PopCap Games Developer: SpinTop Games Platform: PC Genre: Hidden-Object/Puzzle Price: $19.95 (Buy now!)
Overview:
As I told you a few days ago, Escape Whisper Valley is PopCap’s latest hidden-object game. When starting the game you find out that due to a sudden rock-slide you are trapped in an abandoned mountain village. In order to escape you will have to explore different parts of Whisper Valley in search for clues which will have to be put together thus helping you find a way out.
Gameplay:
The game has 3 differents game-modes. In the first one, which is available from the start and is the main game mode, you will have to collect 25 map pieces in order to find a way out. For each map piece you will have to find all the objects required in a specific scene. The number of scenes which require completion varies for each level from 2, in the lower levels, all the way up to 8 in the last part of the game.
I must tell you that the game gets you hooked-up really easy as there are dozens of cleverly hidden objects in each of the 25 scenes, and even though the scenes will start to repeat at a point you won’t have to find the same object again (I went through 3 play-throughs before being asked to find the same object!). To make things interesting, beside having to pick the indicated objects, some tasks will be to combine different things, for example: “Slice the cheese” then “Put the piece of cheese in the mouse-trap” or you will be asked to spell “BABY” using some cubes. Things will start getting a little more difficult as you advance thus instead of indicating the object by it’s name you will be asked to point out things like “Has Gills”, “Left by shoes” or “Doesn’t like dogs”.
If you like seeing your name in the High Scores list, you’ll be interested in acquiring bonuses. These can be achieved in a number of ways. You will be rewarded for your swiftness, both by locating the objects really quickly as well as finishing the scene in record time. Also you can try discovering the hidden locks and keys, there are 1 of each in every scene, but I warn you that they come in a lot of shapes and sizes and the HINT system won’t work on them!
At the end of each level you will have to complete a mini-game in order to be given the map piece. There are 7 mini-game types like block slide, match-3 and different types of Jigsaw. These are really fun and help loosen the tension built up from all that object finding. Also you will notice that their difficulties will increase as you progress through the game.
After finishing the game two new game modes will be unlocked, Unlimited Seek & Find, and a mystery bonus game.
In Unlimited Seek and Find you will be able to revisit the scenes, only this time you will be able to search for all the hidden objects available.
–small SPOILER ALERT– 🙂
I usually don’t do this but I have to say that I loved the ending part. I think it was genius to put in that little point-and-click adventure scene, which in my opinion looked and felt great and they could have easily made an entire game just like that!
–END SPOILER–
Graphics and sound:
I have only one word for the feeling that the graphics and sound give: GREAT!
It is obvious that special attention to detail has been given in order to do the scenes. The objects blend in wonderfully and sometimes you’ll find yourself gazing at the screen searching for something, only to find out it was concealed in a painting or in a mirror’s reflection. Everything looks natural and in its place.
I was also impressed by the sound of the game! Even though it gets a little repetitve, the music is very well chosen and at times gives you cold shivers and in combination with the graphics’ style it really emanates the atmosphere of an abandoned mountain village, forgotten with time’s passing.
Feeling:
The game is great and I recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and also practice their “seek-and-locating” skills. You will have a great time playing it, but somehow it leaves you wanting more…Who knows maybe they really are planning an adventure-type game for us in the future!
Ever get the feeling that the movie you just watched was created with one single purpose. That purpose being, to create a movie that orbits a specific actor? Well, if you thought that was the purpose before, take a look at this film.
The expendables is an upcoming movie, set to release this summer, about a bunch of mercenaries. Who are playing these mercenaries? The top action movie actors out there. This movie screams for attention from the sheer mass of “tough guys” in it.
Just take a look at the cast. The Actor – who they are in the movie
Sylvester Stallone – Barney ‘The Schizo’ Ross
Jason Statham – Lee Christmas
Mickey Rourke – Tool
Terry Crews – Hale Caesar
Jet Li – Yin Yang
Dolph Lundgren – Gunnar Jensen
Randy Couture – Toll Road
David Zayas – General Gaza
“Stone Cold” Steve Austin – Paine
Charisma Carpenter – Lacy
Eric Roberts – Monroe
Giselle Itie – Sandra
Arnold Schwarzenegger – Himself
Quite an intimidating cast and anyone can pull out at least one actor they know from that list, but in the words of the wise MasterAbbott “it’s going to be epic or an epic #FAIL”.
I just hope it will have action, explosions, a hot girl, and lots of killing. A story? No, those are over rated! I don’t need a story!
Lets take a look at some other comments on the trailer.
“Four and a half man…not funny…IT’S MORE LIKE JET LI EQUALS FOUR MEN AND THE OTHER FOUR ADDS UP TO A HALF. ” ~ vangstr6
“Evvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveryone….is in this! Did I see Lassie in the background?” ~ TheXenomorph1980
“so the whole movie is about a bunch of ex-action hero old farts ? ” ~ worstalentscout
“wheres chuck norris D: ” ~ AsianVietAlex
I will let cangriman0101 sum it up for everyone:
Reaction the first time I saw the trailer:
“Oh nice, the guy from Transporter…

Stone Cold Austin? God does exist…

Super Mario takes off into the Galaxy – Give him a hug goodbye!
PLUS A SIGNED COPY OF SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2 BY MR MIYOMOTO IS UP FOR GRABS!!!
Mario is jetting off into the galaxy in AUSTRALIA on 1 July and Nintendo want you to send him off with a final hug! In fact, Nintendo want to establish a record.
To celebrate the much anticipated launch of Super Mario Galaxy 2, (available in stores all over AUSTRALIA on July 1) Mario himself, and TV and radio personality Jabba will be at The Nintendo Experience, EB Games, Swanston Street, Melbourne at 7:00am, July 1 to establish the record for the most amount of hugs by a mascot character in 20 minutes!
The current world record was established by a 51 year old Ohio man, Jeff Ondash on Valentine’s Day 2010. Jeff hugged an amazing 7,777 in a 24 hour period outside the Paris Las Vegas hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Unfortunately Mario needs a rest after 20 minutes (it’s tiring jumping around and collecting all those coins)! For this reason, Mario will hope to hug more than 108 people in 20 minutes to establish a new record for a character mascot.
To commemorate this, every hugger who attends on the day will get their own personal photo of the occasion and will be one of the first in Australia to experience the spectacular new items and new stages of the 3D galactic video game, Super Mario Galaxy 2. They will be the first to run, jump and fly through a 3D dazzling galaxy, bursting with imagination.
Plus everyone that purchases or collects their pre-order copy of Super Mario Galaxy 2 from EB Games Swanston Street on 1 July, between 7am – 8:30am will have their chance to win a signed copy of the game, by Mr Miyomoto!!! This is a unique copy, signed by the genius behind Mario. Make sure you pre-order your copy today at EB Games, Swanston Street for your chance to WIN!
Please note, you must be at EB Games, Swanston Street, Melbourne for the draw at 8:30am, July 1, to collect the signed game if you are the lucky winner.
There will also be giveaways up for grabs for the best dressed, as well as competitions throughout the morning. So get your best Super Mario Galaxy 2 themed outfits ready and be part of the fun on July 1!
Namco Bandai is proud to bring everyone in the United States the sequel to the hit game Dragon Ball: Origins, with Origins 2! This game is exclusive to the Nintendo DS and should currently be residing upon all the shelves at your local retailers. Those of you familiar with the Dragon Ball series will know how important the legendary Dragon Balls are, and nearly the whole focus of the series was to obtain these coveted balls for their special powers.
In the sequel players will be able to control young Goku as well has his friends that he will meet, as he fights his way through the deadly Red Ribbon Army. You will have the ability to play as the hero Goku, his best friend Krillin, even Yamcha. Plus as an interesting turn with a non-combatant you can also play as Bulma during parts of the story. Players will be able to unleashed a wide range of skills to navigate through each level.
They will be doing this through stylus and button inputs to bring Goku through the paces of devastating aerial attacks, and punish his foes with combination attacks and even interacting with any environment around you. In an added bonus the camera itself loves to get into the action as it adapts to what is occurring in the game, either zooming in to assist the player with tough battles or challenging environments. It will even change to a fighting game camera angle during the boss battles!
