Mortal Kombat Trailer

MORTAL KOMBAT!!

Need I say more? The most recent trailer for the game shows some gory fighting between sahdows. Any fan can probably pick out some of those characters, such as Scorpion and Raiden.

Plus an awersome Disturbed song as the background music. Just check out the trailer and see for yourself.

Mortal Kombat is scheduled for release Spring 2011.

Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions Trailer

You know, that no matter how much you try to act cool you still love spider-man. The comic books, not the movies. I admit the movies were pretty bad.

Check out the trailer below for some more details on Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions, and see for yourself if you are going to enjoy the game.

Slice It! – iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch Review

Slice It!
Company: Com2uS
Release Date: August 31, 2010
Price: $0.99
BUY NOW!

Story:

The point of Slice It! is to slice an item into a specified amount of equal parts with the amount of slices you’re allowed to do. In other words, cut something into a bunch of equal parts with a specific amount of parts. It’s fun and can become quite addicting, which is surprising for this type of game. For only 99 cents, it’s got a great plot.

Sound and Graphics:

When I say this sounds like a fun game, I mean it literally. The background music and sound effects are all amusing and entertaining. It’s got an upbeat soundtrack and it makes you and your family want to play this, while becoming smarter. The graphics, for this genre of game, are great. Everything is smooth and looks nice. There are no choppy edges or little glitches that similar games have. This game may be called cute, for it’s colored-in-crayon look. It looks like a bunch of children helped design the game which makes it a more fun experience to be a kid again. It also makes this a family game. There are many games that go for this style and look, but none come close to Slice It! This game looks and sounds much better than most of the other games in this category. If you’re looking for something that looks like and sounds like a fun children’s game, then this may be  the right one for you.

Gameplay and Controls:

Gameplay is simple, then it gets a little harder and moves into the really hard zone. You draw a line or many lines across an object to slice it into many different pieces with a limited amount of separation lines. You Slice It! That’s the name of the game and that’s exactly what the game is! The controls? Your finger. You use your finger to place the cutting line across the object and then let go to set it and Slice It! Although this may sound like a simple game, it is not. The objects just get more complicated and your limits on the amount of cuts you’re allowed to use change for almost every design. There are Hints that you gain access to, that help you through the game if/when you’re stuck! This game can keep you playing for hours without realizing it. It helps stimulate the brain, which makes this a great game for a child or yourself. It’s a game that you can always have fun with, while helping you become smarter. Yeah, you can get smarter by having fun. Isn’t that worth 99 cents? If you’re into kid’s games, doodle games, brain/thinking games, smart games, symmetric games, line drawing or almost any type of game out there, then this is a great game for you because every level you play just becomes more and more fun. So keep having fun and make yourself smarter. Maybe they should have set their motto as “Raise Your IQ While Having Fun”. Anyway, this game plays well and is definitely something I’d recommend to buy. Great for any time of the day. You could be playing on a train, in your office or anywhere. It is a great app to have for that little break you need from life.

Summary:

Most games that are similar to this one get very low ratings. Somehow, Com2uS has created an amazing game and is only selling it for 99 cents. This game is fun for the whole family, it plays well, works smoothly and is a lot of fun. I was surprised that I actually enjoyed a game like this, and it’s all thanks to Com2uS. They changed my perspective of these “smaller” games. It’s a lot of fun, something I’d play when I don’t have anything to do and I give it a VERY GOOD rating of 9 capsules because it’s great, but it is a smaller game and I don’t see much replay value.

RedLynx Reveals MotoHeroz Coming to the WiiWare!

Developers of the hugely popular Trials HD, RedLynx, have now announced their newest project that will be headed to the WiiWare download service, MotoHeroz. MotoHeroz is a platforming/racing game with a single player adventure and a 2 to 4 player local multi-player mode. Players can also expect to see a new type of daily online competition, in which a new online track opens up daily to give you constant new opportunities for the top of the Leader Boards.

Players race, chase, and rally their way through a rich, challenging world, competing against their friends for the fastest times, entering daily races, and hunting for secrets and coins.

“With this game, we are taking our expertise in downloadable content, addictive gameplay, and the racing genre, and adapting it to the strengths of the Wii,” said Antti Ilvessuo, Creative Director of RedLynx. “The result is a unique, appealing game that combines racing game thrills with platformer charm,” he added.

Features Include:

  • Simple but effective physics deliver an addictive gaming experience
  • Single player story mode with memorable characters and rich visuals
  • Four-player party mode that’s easy for anyone to pick up and play
  • Ghost race against any player’s time on any track in the game
  • Global and Friend-based Leader Boards to fuel your competitive fires
  • Brand new kind of daily online competition, where new tracks and Leader Boards are opened and closed each day
  • Steady 60 FPS, widescreen support, and blazing fast load times
  • Packed with content, including 100+ tracks and three game modes

“We’re thrilled to be working with Nintendo on this project,” said Tero Virtala, CEO of RedLynx. “With a game like MotoHeroz, we are expanding the number of retail quality releases we are delivering to online marketplaces.”

Trials HD has now sold over 1 Million downloads on the Xbox Live Marketplace and with RedLynx backing MotoHeroz, I think Nintendo owners should be quite pleased to see this brand new title headed to the WiiWare. Not date has been given on release as of yet due to the game still being in development but it is looking like RedLynx is aiming for an early 2011 release of this unique side-scrolling racing adventure. We will be sure to bring you more on MotoHeroz as it releases.

Spider-Man: Total Mayhem – iPhone/iPod Touch Review

Spider-Man: Total Mayhem

Company: Gameloft

Release Date: September 1, 2010

Price: $6.99

BUY NOW

Story:

Spider-Man: Total Mayhem is based in New York City, of course, and the goal is to save the city! Stop the biggest breakout of Super Villains from spreading a poisonous virus and save New York City! It’s a fun game with lots of action and great Spidey-moves. This game can easily be played for hours.

Sound and Graphics:

The sound is great for an action-adventure like Spider-Man. All the sound effects are similar to those found in other Spider-Man games and the movies. The game looks great. The graphics in Spider-Man: Total Mayhem were made to look like the comic Spider-Man, making it more of an arcade-style game. This happens to be better than them choosing to base it off the human Spider-Man because it’s more fun to play with comic-style graphics. This game looks good while fighting and I didn’t notice any graphic glitches. My 91 hit combo just a second ago looked pretty good. The webs look good, the villains look ok and Spider-Man looks great! I’m a little surprised that the villains look so choppy compared to the rest of the characters in the game. I would have liked them to have a little more detail. I’d like to see who I’m knocking out. Other than that, this game is amazing. The soundtrack and sound effects are Spider-Man. You’ll know what this means when you play it. You hear every hit, every combo, everything. You’ll recognize the music the second you start playing. This is a great adventure and the graphics and sound only make it better. At first, I thought the graphics would be terrible, but I realized these graphics improve the game and make it all a much better experience. I’m happy Gameloft chose to go this way with look of the game.

[pro-player width=’480′ height=’385′ type=’video’]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htbBkGG2Sak[/pro-player]

Gameplay and Controls:

Even though the controls look very small, they are quite responsive and easy to access, except for the Spidey-Senses action button. The little lightning bolt button is sometimes hard to press in time because it’s located in between all the other buttons and you have to decide which hand to tap it with. Anyway, the controls on this are great. You can jump, make a web, grab a guy in a web, spin the guy around, attack villains, beat bad guys up and so much more! Now, the gameplay is not much different from my opinion of the controls. It’s great and you can do everything written a sentence ago. IF you don’t remember it, here it is again. You can jump around, grabbing guys in your web and spinning them into each other. You can beat up villains with huge combo attacks and enjoy attacking in every way you can. I’m a little upset that there is no free roam or multi-player. Multi-player Red vs. Black Spider-Man would have been amazing. Hopefully, this will be included in an update or sequel. I have to say I didn’t want to spend money in this game, but it came out to be worth even more! I’m still playing it while writing this review. It has great action, adventure and the controls are great which makes it fun to enjoy. It has some arcade-like features, such as the graphics when it comes to the look of Spider-Man and how he does his combos, including all the sound effects. It just makes this game better. Well done, Gameloft and I recommend this game to Spider-Man fans everywhere and anyone looking for a great game.

Summary:

Spider-Man Total Mayhem is a great combination of graphics, controls, gameplay and audio. It’s fun to play, which makes it so much better. Other games you play to beat. This game makes you want to play just to enjoy it. I mean who doesn’t want to kick some villain butts? I’ve been playing it for hours and I can’t stop, except to write this review on an amazing game. If it had free roam, that would be nice. It would be great if it had multiplayer. Based on that, and the fact that this is such a fun game, I give Ultimate Spider-Man: Total Mayhem a VERY GOOD rating of 9 capsules. I would’ve liked to see a little more, but this a great game for the first release on the iPhone and iPod Touch.

David Allen & Chris Opdahl Halo Reach Interview

halo-reach-event-sydney-01

This evening MasterAbbott made his way over to The Great Hall at UTS in Sydney for a Microsoft presentation on the highly anticipated final chapter of the Halo franchise, Halo Reach.  Everyone present was lucky enough to see a short section of the campaign (which sadly we were not allowed to record or take photos) demonstrated and presented by David Allen and Chris Opdahl from Bungie, which I must say was very cool and quite enjoyable to watch and certainly got the crowd very excited.

Along with the presentation everyone present had  the honor to hear a speech by Buzz Aldrin (American mechanical engineer, retired United States Air Force pilot and astronaut who was the Lunar Module pilot on Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing in history. On July 20, 1969, he was the second human being to set foot on the Moon, following mission commander Neil Armstrong.) who spoke about space travel the future of where space travel is heading and plans to land on Marsmoving forward .  Buzz was very enthusiastic and had the entire audience captivated from start to finish.

halo-reach-event-sydney-03

After the presentation everyone was able to get some hands on with Halo Reach Firefight and MasterAbbott snuck in a very quick interview with both David Allen and Chris Opdahl from Bungie and discussed what their involvement was with Halo Reach and what they enjoyed most about making this highly anticipated final installment of this amazing Halo franchise.  Special thanks to both Chris and David who took the time to take photos with everyone and also sign Xbox consoles and other Halo merchandise that the fans brought along.  Enjoy the interview and pics below.

If you haven’t already pre-ordered your copy of Halo Reach do so now !!  Grab it from our US Online store here or from our Australian affiliate store at Fishpond (free delivery if you live in Australia if you buy from Fishpond)

Comic Jumper is Part of “The Game Feast” and at PAX

So, Comic Jumper is clearly part of “The Game Feast” if you had simply glanced at my Game Feast Post, but I bet you didn’t know that you’ll be able to play it one more time before release at this year’s Pax. Along with the release of the game on October 6th for 1200MSP they are also giving away a whole bunch of stuff. If I had to sum up this press release with one word, it would be “Free Stuff!”… aside from the fact that that was two words. no space? “FREESTUFF!!”

Check out the Press release below to learn more about the game, about the free stuff being given away at PAX, the free stuff you get for buying the game, and also a few free laughs located right within the Press Release. Did I mention Free Stuff?

~~

At Twisted Pixel there are few things we love more than food, so when Microsoft announced we’d be headlining the inaugural Game Feast, we were busy downing tacos.  But a couple hours later our food comas largely wore off, and we realized that on October 6th, Comic Jumper would be released to the world, and that’s pretty awesome.  We should probably celebrate it with a bunch of free stuff and maybe write a food-themed press release.  Let’s get to it.

Looking Over The Menu

The Captain is a superhero extraordinaire and prima donna star of his own comic book series that spans literally tens of readers.  After he gets cancelled, Twisted Pixel swoops in, ready to pay him minimum wage to be our lab rat with our new Comic Jumper technology – hiring him out to other comic books to come in and save their storylines when things go wrong.  Art Director David Leung says of the game, “four completely unique art styles in one game, each with their own gameplay modes and animations?  It’s cool, I don’t need to see my family.”  Dave?  Dave’s just giving me the finger now.  Moving on…

Main Course Served, Let’s Gorge

As part of The Game Feast promotion for Xbox LIVE® Arcade, Comic Jumper releases on October 6th at 1200 points.  Continuing our tradition of cramming as much free stuff as we can into each game, Comic Jumper comes with a Premium Theme, Gamerpics, and free Avatar accessories!  As a special thank you to our Splosion Man fans, the game also includes a pair of free extra-long levels for Splosion Man, one Single-Player and one Multiplayer.  I don’t know how our mad programming geniuses pulled off that last one, but it’s pretty cool.

I’ll Take More Of That, That…. and That

Today we are releasing our latest in-depth reveal, this time on our 4th genre, Manga.  If there was any doubt to how much we love our fans, let me just say that watching hours of obscure terrible Japanese manga is considered a war crime in most countries.  Designer Sean Conway comments on the complexities of incorporating the nuances of Japanese style, “Kunichiwa!  Tsunami ramen sushi hurricane Punch!”  Attaboy, Sean!   Way to sacrifice your sanity for the good of the game!  Check out www.twistedpixelgames.com for the fruits of his despair.

Ate Too Much, Think I’m Going To Puke

We’ll be showing up to PAX this year with a vast array of giveaways and prizes.  Our pièces de résistance are four custom painted “slim” Xboxes featuring The Captain that we’ll be giving away to lucky fans.  Our booth at PAX, aside from being staffed by our awesome team members, will have live ukulele performances of Donuts, Go Nuts! by our resident musical prodigy, Matt “Chainsaw” Chaney.  We’ll also have game competitions of Splosion Man and Comic Jumper, and free posters and other giveaways.  Plus we have some sweet T-shirts and Statuettes for the true superfan.  If you can’t make it to PAX, fear not: soon afterwards we’ll be giving more custom Xboxes away through your favorite websites.  These Xboxes feature takes on the Captain by renowned comic book artists.
