Well, as I promised earlier, I’m going to be streaming as much as I can today. Know that this game is pretty great, it’s basically dynasty warriors with style. Admittedly, I will be off and on with the streaming for today, but whenever I get a chance I’ll be streaming it, so keep checking back every so often if it’s down. Spread the word around to your friends, the more watching the better. I will try and look at the chat while I’m streaming but no promises.
Broken Controllers for Politics
Perhaps you may remember that a landmark court ruling is soon to be decided here in the United States. The Supreme Court will rule on a First Amendment rights bill that could restrict video games and player’s right to free speech. In a nutshell, the law prohibits excessively violent video game sales to children. This may sound like a good idea, however, if this law is not proved unconstitutional, how far will the lawyers go? They could end up trying to censor books and movies, even for adults. I don’t know about you, but I appreciate my right to decide when I want to virtually snipe a terrorist. The Entertainment Software Association also appreciates this right. They are the ones who are fighting in this trial, which will start oral arguments on November 2, 2010. As part of their effort to protect the First Amendment, they are asking you to send in your old or broken controllers to Senator Leland Yee, the Senator who took the action to make this law in the first place. You can find all the details in this link.
After the ESA made the plea for gamers to send their protests to Lee, Game Politics was able to get a statement from Senator Yee’s office. Basically, Yee’s Chief of Staff had this to say,”I can only assume these broken controllers must represent the broken promises of the video game industry to parents.” In addition, he also declared his own knowledge of video games when he said this,”…I think the Senator would appreciate a Kinect add-on rather than those dated controllers.” It would be interesting to go into much more detail, but I am afraid I would go too far. So, I leave it up to the community, the Supreme Court and gamers across the world to respectfully keep video games alive and uncensored.
Caging a Video for Fighters Uncaged
Announced exclusively for the Xbox 360 and Kinect, Fighters Uncaged shows what a UFC fighter without a legal license to fight would probably do in his spare time. All joking aside, Fighters Uncaged will hopefully be another quality game from Ubisoft. I have high hopes for Kinect, and it will be incredible if this game uses Kinect to its fullest potential. Fighters Uncaged will be ducking and weaving towards a November 18, 2010 release date.
Sir Arthur and Bionic Commando join the roster in Marvel vs Capcom 3
With an already large amount of fighters available in the fighting roster, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has just added another two fighters to its ranks. They have added Sir Arthur from the classic Ghosts ‘n Goblins series, and Nathan Spencer from the revamped Bionic Commando series to help flesh out Capcom’s roster even more.
Catch both new fighters’ videos below which show off some of their different abilities and their fighting styles. Sir Arthur is definitely getting a lot of love from Capcom lately. First an appearance in Dead Rising 2 as an easter egg outfit and now as a fighter for MvC 3.

Capcom’s Ghost Trick Spooks up a New Trailer..
Possession and giant chicken, well mainly possession. Both are shown in the newest trailer released today for Capcom’s newest franchise, “Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective”. In this trailer, the main protagonist, Sissel, searches for the truth about his suspicious demise he finds himself in a restaurant. Sissel is able to possess items within the restaurant to interact with the other characters within the story. The more I see of the game, the more it looks like Ghost Trick will be packed full of satire along with a solid story, which is a good thing considering many of the darker mystery titles dropping as of late.
You can check out the newest trailer for Ghost Trick below and as of now the game is scheduled to hit stores in January of 2011 exclusively for the Nintendo DS.

Oh yeah this is the big one. The Official Killzone 3 Beta has been announced for PS3 and you can get a piece of the action. Only if you live in PAL (Europe) countries or Austrailia though. No word if USA is going to get this deal but its good news to hear anyway. Here are the words straight from SCEE.
“SYDNEY, 8 October 2010: Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced a Public Beta Trial for the upcoming Killzone®3 for PlayStation®3 (PS3™) – putting the next iteration of the iconic first person shooter through rigorous testing at the hands of the toughest, most demanding critics in existence: the fans. On 25 October, fans of the franchise will have their chance to sample the multiplayer mode for Killzone 3, including the all-new ‘Operations’ game type, party system, and jetpack and exoskeleton vehicles. Not only will participants get an exclusive look at the explosive cinematic experience and a chance to hone their skills ahead of launch, but they’ll be able to shape the final experience themselves – the trial will call for fans to provide honest gameplay feedback, report any bugs and cheats they find, and help test the network code in large-scale, real-world scenarios.”
So there you have it. A chance to frag some ISA “suckas ” or Helghan “fools”. There are some instructions though in order to catch a chance to be a part of this amazing game. These are VERY important. Don’t do them right and you will not be in the beta;

2. Download the the exclusive Killzone 3 XMB theme. This will be available to PS+ members ONLY on October 14th.

Sengoku Basara – Live stream tomorrow!
I was at the New York ComiCon today, which was AWESOME. Oddly enough, I didn’t attend because I like comics (I’m not into comics at all) nor was I there for gaming news (as there was none aside from the Capcom booth). As fate would have it, I’ve become close friends with some guys who work for Capcom, and they are working the booth. I’ve been talking with one of them for a bit now about doing this and he finally made it happen, he gave me Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes for PS3 early! This started when I asked him why don’t reviewers (who get games early to review) ever stream them early (while still complying with the embargo dates, of course). The idea intrigued him and so he got this for me early so I can stream it for you guys and to give Capcom some early buzz about it (the game is absolutely awesome).
I will be streaming gameplay tomorrow here on Capsule Computers at around…10/11 am (Eastern Standard Time) and will continue to stream until…I can’t anymore 🙂 I should be streaming every day until the release date on the 12th, so be sure to check it out to get a real glimpse of the game before it hits! As a teaser check out, for the first time ever, the opening cinematic that I just uploaded!
X-Men Destiny teased in new trailer
Unfortunately still not much known about the newly announced X-Men: Destiny game but we now have a nice little teaser trailer to go along with what we already know. The makers of the game, Silicon Knights and Activision have been very tight lipped about any details. So we will have to see what will come out after this weekends NYCC. Also if you happen to be at Comic-Con, you can find the booth itself at #1833 or the Marvel Games Panel this Saturday at 10:45 AM in Room 1A06.
Catch the teaser below.

Story
Enslaved: Journey to the West is a game loosely based around a 400 year old Chinese book, Journey to the West. The game starts with a human nicknamed Monkey. He has been captured and is on a slave ship. His cell allows him to see Trip, another human who has been enslaved. Trip manages to escape and blow the ship up. Monkey survives, only to find that he was enslaved while he was knocked out. Trip placed a headband around Monkey that causes him extreme pain or death when he disobeys.
I will remember the story most of all when I think back on playing this game. Character development, plot lines and characters were all extremely well handled. Cut-scenes were sharp and well acted to the point that sometimes I felt like I was almost in a regular movie. Facial animations were a little bit stiff, but the superb voice acting makes you forget all about that. Throughout the game, I wavered between thinking I had the whole plot figured out, or if I was in for a surprise. The tale of Monkey and Trip really drove the whole experience and made me want to find out what happens next. Even though the story ends rather abruptly, I did not feel cheated. It wrapped up all of the questions I had been wondering about and left enough loose ends to make me want to play the forthcoming DLC.
Gameplay
Monkey’s acrobatic agility and combat prowess are the main gameplay elements used in the game. Master of the monkey bars, Monkey has great platforming animations and watching him swing and jump is satisfying. One of the more ingenious aspects of the game is when platforming is combined with “blockbuster” moments. For example, early in the game, Monkey is climbing on a ship when it suddenly explodes. You as the player must help him climb back up. Later on, there are many sections that will start to crumble when he jumps on them. Sections like these really drew me into the experience and were much better than watching a cut scene of him doing it himself. However, most of the platforming is very simplistic, and it is fairly easy to merely press a button and not even think about where you must jump next. This can be fun and relaxing, but it is also a little boring. It is not until the game is nearly over that the player must actually time his moves and dodge obstacles while platforming. Another aspect that was annoying was the seemingly endless invisible walls. To illustrate, many times it was required for Monkey to climb off buildings and such. However, he HAD to go down just one pathway when there were multiple options that were similar. I understand that linearity is important to this game, but does it matter that much which side of the building I jump off? Finally, the controls are very infuriating. Many times the camera would refuse to move when I needed it. Other times it would swing wildly where ever it wanted to go. Jumping over blocks and coming out of cover were also troublesome. Invariably I would roll four or five times before I would be able to get the game to understand that he needed to jump instead.
Monkey is equipped with a staff that can shock, shoot and club enemies. Although that sounds really cool, it can be tedious eventually. Upgrading the staff will unlock varied moves, but these are extremely limited. Even these specialized combos are merely slight variations of what he can already do. They do add some strategy and can give you the upper hand, but it is usually not worth it to even bother. Combat usually involves just pressing the same button over and over unless you want to shoot enemies. But aiming is loose and will often take so much time that an enemy has already drained half Monkey’s health. In the beginning of the game, Trip and Monkey worked together to distract enemies and kill them. Using a good command system, Monkey and Trip were an ultimate team. As the game progresses though, Monkey ended up doing almost all the combat and would end up rescuing Trip more often than Trip helped out. This was not always bad, but it would’ve been nice for there to be more areas where co-op combat were put to use. Enemies and bosses are basically recycled throughout the game. There are maybe four types of enemies and only a few bosses. These bosses are really creative though and add good gameplay. A few of the regular enemies can be taken down via a specialized animation, but there is only one animation per enemy. Even though you fight a few of the boss battles many times, each boss take-down is unique and awesome. Most of the bosses are fairly easy, but they are engaging and incredible.
Audio and Graphics
The soundtrack is stellar and adds depth to an already incredible story. As mentioned above, voice acting is amazing. Sound effects are also well rendered; they make the battles and actions much more visceral. One problem I had with the sound was that conversations would occasionally layer over each other. Otherwise, the audio was excellent and an awesome addition to the experience.
Graphics were nothing short of astounding. Although the occasional pop out would occur, the Unreal Engine really showed what it can do in this game. The graphics also highlighted the extraordinary art direction and style. When I think of a post apocalyptic world, I generally think in dark colors like brown and black. Painting the environments with bright reds and softer greens, Ninja Theory discarded that unoriginal notion and made the environments illuminated and original.
Overview
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is an action packed story that will be remembered by this editor. Namco Bandai and Ninja Theory did a plethora of things right when they created this game. Inspired storytelling and characters, insanely creative art direction, and a well done soundtrack are the standouts of this game. Nevertheless, terrible controls and irksome combat hold the game back.
I give Enslaved: Odyssey to the West:
