NGP gameplay trailer shows what it is capable of

Now we all saw the reveal trailer for the NGP which showed us a whole bunch of very happy looking people doing different things with the NGP itself. But there never was an actual video that showed off the games and the way that they would look like on the handheld. Sure there was a video of Uncharted during the conference where NGP was revealed but what about everything else?

Well now Sony has found the best way to market their newly announced device considering there had been little actual gameplay footage shown yet. In a new video released by Sony there is a multitude of software gameplay shown which includes all of the different games that have currently been announced with big titles like Killzone and Resistance. But the title that I’m most interested in that I saw in the video was Gravity Daze, how about you?

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky announced for US release

It seems that if you want to get a hold of some of the most popular JRPG games, or Strategy RPGs that you have to own a PSP nowadays. Regardless of that fact however XSEED has announcd that they are bringing Nihon Falcom’s Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky to the United States in March of this year.

Previously Trails in the Sky was only available on the PC when it came out in 2004 in Japan and it never made it overseas at that point. Now the game then saw a release on the PSP back in 2006, but this was only for Japanese audiences as well. But finally fans of the Legend of Heroes series in the US and worldwide will be able to gain access to this installment of the franchise. Trails in the Sky starts the 3rd series of Legend of Heroes and will begin a brand new storyline that can span over 50 hours.

But they didn’t just announce the fact that the game is being released, they also announced that there will be three different versions available. The standard edition and the downloadable edition aren’t much to be impressed about and will cost $30 on their own. But what is interesting is the fact that there is a $40 limited edition which will feature a soundtrack CD, a Bracer Guild replica badge and a 13 x 19.5″ poster that you can put up on your wall if you want to. I know I would.

Dark Souls trailer released; to be spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls

Now when fans of Demon’s Souls heard that there wasn’t going to be a sequel, there was much heartache to be had. But all is not lost considering the fact that From Software and Namco Bandai have teamed up to release something that they are calling a spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls. Called Dark Souls, the game will feature much of what made Demon’s Souls so popular. A trailer was released to help show just how similar the games will look.

Best of all it turns out that Dark Souls will actually be a multiplatform release unlike it’s predecessor. This means that fans of both consoles can experience just how difficult Demon’s Souls can be when it comes to combat and dungeon crawling. There will be a bigger open world and even new combat mechanics to go along with the already creepy nature of what appears to be the spirit forms of players returning. Namco Bandai has not set an official date to expect Dark Souls, but have said it will be out sometime near the end of this year.

Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions details released for 3DS

Namco Bandai has been pretty tight lipped about the fact that they have a Pac-Man and Galaga game in the works for the 3DS. The game was initially announced back at last years E3 when the whole slew of 3DS games in development were revealed. Unfortunately it has been a half a year since that date with no news regarding the release, which led to rumors that it may have been canceled.

Those rumors are of course backless however considering the fact that the latest issue of Famitsu in Japan (courtesy of Andriasang) reveals that there is a new title for the game, now called Pac-Man & Galaga Dimensions, and additional details which say that each of the two titles has received an update to better work on the 3DS. Such as Pac-Man Tilt as it is called, which will have players able to alter the levels by tilting the 3DS around. Plus there is the Galaga 3D Impact mode that features players inside of the ship’s cockpit and aiming by moving the 3DS around. So it looks like plenty of people will be getting strange looks in public as they wiggle their hand helds in public.

Michael Phelps game coming soon…

In June 2011, get ready to get your swim trunks on.  Michael Phelps – Push the Limit is coming to the Xbox 360 Kinect. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few years, you know that Michael Phelps is probably the greatest swimmer of all time.  Are you ready to take him on?

Push the Limit is a fun, innovative, and physical way to game that is complete with elements that will challenge serious gamers, swimmers and casual fans,” said Phelps. “I’m really excited to help bring a one-of-a-kind swimming video game to the market that is reflective of my competitive nature and passion for swimming.  This definitely isn’t your typical video game; much like my training in the pool, Push the Limit is about improving and  mastering every race element – from controlling your adrenaline  on the block to perfectly timing your finish. In my world, it takes a lifetime of dedication to get one-hundredth of a second ahead and I believe Push the Limit offers players a unique journey inside swimming that will challenge themselves as much as their in-game competitors.”

All I can hope for is that I won’t be laying down in my living room pretending to do the doggy paddle.

Yakuza 4 demo to arrive on PSN in a few weeks

The Yakuza are coming to town in the United States on March 15th, but a few of them are sneaking over on the PSN in only a few weeks. They will be giving players a taste of each of the four playable characters in the game while also allowing them to learn how each of them fight and handle the world around them. Now there is a catch however when it comes to getting access to the demo.

Those who are subscribers to the PlayStation Plus will be able to get access to the demo on February 15th. All is not lost however if you aren’t a PlayStation Plus user though. Normal members will be able to gain access to the demo a week later on February 22nd. So everyone will soon have a chance to take a look at the criminal underworld of Japan. Everyone that owns a PlayStation 3 that is.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together animated trailer

Square Enix released a new trailer for Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together yesterday.  You won’t find much gameplay (or lyrics, or game audio, or dialogue) here, but it does have that classic ogre battle/tactics ogre style that is sure to evoke some nostalgia.  Just watching this brings me back to my days as a kid playing Ogre Battle 64.  Good times.
