Mega Man Legends 3 canceled

Well… things were never looking very good for Mega Man Legends 3, Capcom never green lit the game, and had only been saying that Mega Man Legends 3 may get a Prototype version to test the waters of the market. Still, the news is rather depressing tonight as Capcom has officially put the final nail in the game’s coffin by saying that Mega Man Legends 3 is canceled.

Capcom didn’t go into detail about why they canceled the title besides that they performed “an assessment of whether the title will go into full production… is based on a number of criteria with input from different sectors of the company. Unfortunately it was not felt that the Mega Man Legends 3 Project met the required criteria”

Some people may think that the reason this game was canceled was a grudge against Keiji Inafune who quit Capcom last year who was the co-creator of Mega Man, but Capcom also said that “The cancellation of the MML3 project is in no way related to Inafune-san leaving the company.” This news is still very depressing simply due to the fact that millions of fans around the world were anticipating this game greatly and it would have been a great addition to an otherwise lacking 3DS lineup.

Rebecca Black releases new single, My Moment

23

Rebecca Black went from spoilt rich girl to even more spoilt and even more rich girl in what is without a doubt one of the most beautiful tales of triumph against all odds. Black rose from the mediocrity of priveleged Los Angeles life with nothing but a $4000 cheque from her mother in hand and used it to propel her unrivaled vocal talents to become one of the most famous pop-sensations in recent history. She is indeed a modern day Rocky Balboa. Congratulations Rebecca, you truly are an inspiration to the human race world-wide.

Black has now finally released her much anticipacted follow up to her world-wide smash-hit Friday with a equally daft and souless song, My Moment. Black seems to be giving a big ole’ shout out to all her haters who doubted her when she said her mother would give her 4000 dollars if she had some spare pocket change. So if you hated on Black, well you better take it back guys, because this is her moment! Whether the moment she speaks of is on a Friday is still to be confirmed but you can check out the latest music video for yourself below. Look’s like Black is Back!

Catherine ‘Love is Over’ Edition unboxed by ATLUS

Usually on this website we post our own unboxing of special editions when they are released, however how about an unboxing video from the developer themselves. Or at least Aram Jabbari, a rep from the company who will be able to provide viewers a full run down of everything players can have if they purchase the Love is Over deluxe edition of Catherine.

In the video we are shown the pillow case that contains Catherine stretched out across the front side, a pair of polka dot boxers that match the ones that Vincent is wearing in the game, a soundtrack CD with music from the game, the game itself of course, a pizza box from The Stray Sheep bar, a T-shirt that looks quite similar to the hearts from another game and of course that new game smell. The game will be released next Tuesday on July 26th for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 arriving in North America in January

While we’ve known that North America would be getting Final Fantasy XIII-2 ever since the game was announced, we did not know exactly when other than a vague 2012 window. Thankfully that confusion has been cleared up because today Square Enix revealed that those of us in North America can expect to be getting the game in January.

This news means that Western gamers will only need to wait a month after the Japanese gamers have a chance to access the title in December. Also announced today is that FFXIII-2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Dead Island and Wakfu will be available to play at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. If you can’t make it to Comic-Con, then we have our hands-on impression of the demo of the game back at E3 last month here.

The Walking Dead Season 2 Trailer

Last year The Walking Dead became AMC’s highest rated series opening in the networks history even beating out such television giants as Breaking Bad and Mad Men, also from AMC.

With such huge ratings a second season was a given and AMC has now delivered us a trailer attached to last nights Breaking Bad Season 4 premiere episode.

The Walking Dead tells the tale of Rick Grimes as he leads a ragtag group of survivors as they struggle to survive the harsh new world over-run with a zombie apocalypse. The first season was 6 episodes long in total so if you have yet to do so, go check it out before the series returns this Halloween.

You can check out the eerie trailer below.

SMASH! Impressions – Luke Halliday

SMASH-2011-Event-Photos-203

Boy, oh boy, now this was a big one. This was the biggest SMASH! Convention thus far and needless to say it blew me away, there was so much amazing things going on and the guests all were brilliant. The convention as a whole was easily the best Australian con this year and perhaps in the past few years.

For those who are unaware, us crazy blokes and bladies (bladies = blokes +ladies) here at Capsule Computers were covering the event in a pretty in depth fashion. I was one of those covering the event, I was the guy cosplaying as that one guy in the background who raises his arms in the air to help Goku do the Spirit Bomb to defeat Buu. Yeah I was that random guy amongst every other person on the planet. In other words I wasn’t cosplaying and you probably didn’t notice me at all!

But you may have noticed our other awesome staff members cosplaying or just being all around good blokes, interviewing people and what not. I loved the way SMASH! handled media access with us being able to interview the guests as well and cover the event as well as enter at the price of a few articles on our site. All the staff was really friendly and it was just a great experience. Although I did hear from MasterAbbott that the Maid Cafe wasn’t so friendly, but that’s another thing altogether.

We also held a contest here at Capsule Computers, with the goal being to find Capsule Computers Editor-in-Chief MasterAbbott. Unfortunately no one found him, even his own staff struggled to get into contact on the day! We did however manage to snap a sneaky shot of MasterAbbott as he was lurking the vendors hall.

All in all I had a great day at the event, loved all the panels, loved all the cosplayers, loved all the vendors and loved covering all the news of the day for you all to see. I’m looking forward to next years SMASH without a doubt.

Dead Island rated by the ESRB; blood and bikinis included!

When you mention upcoming zombie games, two games come to mind. The remake of Dead Rising 2, and of course Dead Island which is so hotly anticipated that many are searching for any snippet of information they can get a hold of. The ESRB is of course here to give the game a rating and Deep Silver’s Dead Island certainly sounds like a game to remember.

You can catch the full rating below; which includes plenty of blood and gore as well as drug references, sexual content, bikinis and dismemberment. Needless to say the game has been given an M rating.

This is a first-person shooter in which players join a group of survivors who must battle a zombie infestation on a tropical island. Players use baseball bats, knives, axes, shotguns, and rifles to kill waves of zombies. Battles are accompanied by screams of pain, realistic gunfire, and slow-motion effects.

When zombies are knocked to the ground, players can sometimes stomp on their heads to complete kills. Large blood splatter stains the surrounding environment and players’ weapon. Players can also dismember zombies, and various scenes depict bloody torsos, legs, or other mutilated body parts.

As the game progresses, alcoholic beverages can be consumed to increase damage output, resulting in screen-blurring effects; in one cutscene, drunken characters are depicted stumbling around a party. Some sequences also reference drug use; one mission requires players to retrieve drugs for a character (e.g., “I haven’t shot up since the day before yesterday and I’m getting the chills.”).

The game also contains a handful of sexual references in the dialogue (e.g., “One rich bugger I investigated was clearly molesting his fourteen-year-old daughter.”); one scene depicts a bikini-clad woman tied to a bed and surrounded by video cameras. The words “f**k” and sh*t” can be heard in dialogue.

Child of Eden priced and dated for PlayStation 3

While Ubisoft’s Child of Eden has been out on the Xbox 360 for over a month now, PlayStation 3 owners have been sitting high and dry without being able to experience the journey that is Child of Eden’s gameplay. That is until September because Ubisoft announced today that they will be releasing the game on the PS3 on September 20th in North America and September 23rd everywhere else.

The game itself will sell for the same price as that of the Xbox 360 version, meaning $49.99. Personally I found Child of Eden to be an amazing experience with the Kinect so it will be interesting to see how well the Ps3 version does in sales, since the Xbox 360 version has been doing poorly since release, only selling 34,000 copies last month.

Heroes of Ruin limited edition 3DS revealed

Square Enix is a company that likes to release special limited edition versions of consoles and handhelds when they work on a big named title. For example they made a special Xbox 360 for the release of FFXIII and countless special DS versions for Japan. Now they are doing the same with the 3DS by creating a limited edition version of the handheld to go along with their Heroes of Ruin title.

The limited edition is so limited however that they won’t be selling them in stores, instead the publisher is going to be holding contest to give these handhelds away to fans. You can enter the contest here after you register and by the end of July you should know if you won or not. I’d have to say that this Heroes of Ruin 3DS far outshines the current two color choices we’ve been given, although still primarily black in color.
