Freddy Krueger Set to join the Mortal Kombat Roster on August 9th!

No, your eyes are not deceiving you. After many rumors and months of speculation, the mystery Kombatant for Mortal Kombat has now been revealed as Freddy Krueger, who is of course known for the many Nightmare on Elm Street flicks. I honestly am still a bit shocked as we were expecting something big from Netherrealm at Comic-Con this year and this addition certainly fits that bill, yet still feels appropriate for Mortal Kombat’s over the top universe.

Along with the announcement came a shiny new gameplay trailer, showing the horror movie icon tearing it up with his claws before trapping Scorpion in a furnace with his fatality, and yes, it is as awesome as it sounds. Check out the trailer below for yourself (courtesy IGN), and let us know what you think about Freddy joining the Mortal Kombat roster in the comments below. Freddy Krueger makes his debut as DLC on August 9th on the PSN and Xbox 360.

The Legend of Zelda Symphony Concert kicks off October 21st!

One of Nintendo’s biggest announcements at E3 was the plan to take a full orchestra on tour in celebration of Zelda’s 25th Anniversary. Today the big N have officially gave a starting date for the tour along with a few details and prices so you Zelda die-hards can start preparing. On October 21st, The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concert will kick off in Los Angeles at the Pantages Theatre with Nintendo composer Koji Kondo and his full team bringing some of the most memorable tunes from the series to life on stage. The full tour then will resume a bit later in 2012.

“The Legend of Zelda has few peers in the pantheon of video game giants, and the games and their music have always shared a deep connection,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Through these concerts, fans nationwide will be able to gather and show their love for the quarter century of action, adventure and excitement that The Legend of Zelda games have brought to their lives.”

A 70-piece orchestra will be joined by a choir to perform new arrangements of a variety of songs from the series’ 25-year history. The concerts will be produced by Jason Michael Paul Productions, Inc., the producers of PLAY! A Video Game Symphony, which has toured the world performing music from video games.

“The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony Concert Tour brings one of the video game industry’s most exciting and enduring franchises to the concert hall and presents what we feel is the definitive concert experience for the series,” said executive producer Jason Michael Paul. “It’s an event that fans and music aficionados won’t want to miss.”

So how much will this event cost? Tickets are actually budget friendly and will start at $35 (US) when they go on sale on August 1st for the first show in LA. Now I strongly reccommend bookmarking the sales page on Ticketmaster that can be found here, as these tickets are sure to sell out fast due to the nature of the event. No other locations have been listed for the 2012 tour as of yet, but once we hear word on that we will be sure to keep you updated. For now though, Zelda fans should start planning their road trips and travel plans, as this concert is sure to be a rare event that is unlikely to produce many encores.

Gotham City Imposters trailer is just plain awesome

If you’re going to make a Batman game that isn’t so serious as the normal Batman universe, then you may as well just take that ball and shoot it off into outer space. That is exactly what has happened with Gotham City Imposters as you can see in this latest trailer released by Warner Brothers today for Comic-Con.

The trailer doesn’t show off any actual gameplay but it is certainly crazy enough to make me want to at least give it a shot. From the looks of it, Gotham City Imposters is going to involve more than just laughs from the Joker’s imposters. Unfortunately the game itself won’t be released way into 2012 and when it does release it will cost $15 or 1200 MSP as it will be released for the Xbox Live Arcade, PC and PlayStation Network.

Poison will be playable in Street Fighter x Tekken; along with Dhalsim and Yoshimitsu

Today at Comic-Con Capcom has been quite generous with revealing new characters for Street Fighter X Tekken. They have released four new characters today which brings the total revealed character list up to around 20 so far. Two characters revealed are from the Street Fighter series while the other two are from Tekken.

Tekken characters revealed were Steve and Yoshimitsu. Yoshimitsu is a great inclusion into the series, which brings his total game shows up to three with Tekken, Street Fighter and Soul Calibur. Steve is a decent addition to the series but not as high profile as Yoshimitsu.

On the Street Fighter side of things Dhalsim has been confirmed to be in the game, as the trailer below shows him in combat against other fighters. Dhalsim has been in nearly every Street Fighter game so this is also no surprise. What is a huge surprise however is that Capcom has revealed that Poison will be a fighter in Street Fighter X Tekken.

Those who do not know who Poison is, he/she is a enemy from the Final Fight series and has shown up as the manager of Hugo in Street Fighter III. She has never been an available fighter until now, but her transsexual self is going to be fully playable in the game when it is released around March 2012. She even was given a whole cinematic reveal which you can watch below the combat trailer.

Tales of the Abyss 3D finally receives an English trailer

There is good news and there is also bad news. The good news is that the Tales of the Abyss 3D game has finally received an English trailer. On the other hand the bad news is that the translation and phrases spoken in the game are dreadfully bad. Almost as bad as it was back on the original PlayStation 2 version.

Despite that, you can catch the trailer below and get your hopes up that an amazing RPG is making its way to the 3DS eventually. Now if only Namco Bandai could do something about those voices in the time between then and now I’m sure everyone would be much happier. The game will be releasing some point later this year, most likely in time for the holiday season.

Battlefield 3 multiplayer gameplay shown off in latest trailer

In case you’ve been dying thanks tot he lack of multiplayer footage from Battlefield 3 then EA and DICE have decided to give you a nice little booster shot today by releasing a multiplayer trailer from the level Paris. They also take the chance to show off the fact that the game won over eighty awards at E3 this year, of course with nearly every company giving out rewards this number is mildly impressive at best.

What is actually very impressive however is how good the game looks from this trailer. The amount of detail that the developers have put into this game is simply astounding and it most certainly shows in this video. Catch the video below to see for yourself.

Capcom Europe angers fans further over Mega Man Legends 3 cancellation

You know what you are supposed to do in the case of a fire? Not throw gasoline on it. Apparently no one told the folks over at Capcom Europe because they have most recently caused even more fan outrage in their statements to fans through the @CapcomEuro Twitter. Destructoid caught wind of the comment that caused the proverbial “shitstorm” of trouble for Capcom.

The comment was in a reply to someone asking about the project and they responded saying “It’s a shame the fans didn’t want to get more involved if we saw there was an audience for MML3 people might change minds.”

Because of this comment nearly anyone who was a fan of Mega Man Legends 3 opened up their floodgates of anger an directed it straight at Capcom Europe. Since then Capcom Europe says they mean the devroom, not gamers, but perhaps the best thing that Capcom could do is just stop talking. Of course announcing an expansion pack of DLC characters for Marvel vs Capcom 3 as a $40 game, still with no Mega Man, isn’t the best time to anger fans further.

ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection comes with small bonuses

Sony revealed a bit earlier today that those who purchase the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Collection will be getting more than two amazing games that more than deserve the HD remakes that they are receiving. They will also be getting two dynamic themes for the PlayStation 3’s XMB plus a lot of video content from ICO, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian.

Though these bonuses aren’t really amazing so to speak, fans will enjoy having an officially created version of the two themes, especially if they make good use of the Shadow of the Collusus’ collosi. The game will be shipping exclusively for the PlayStation 3 on September 27th.

R2D2 styled Xbox 360 Kinect bundle announced for Star Wars Kinect

When can I throw my money at you!? Is what a lot of fans will be saying when they read this news from Comic-Con. Microsoft has revealed that they will be releasing a new special edition Xbox 360 Kinect bundle when they release Star Wars Kinect this Fall.

The Xbox 360 is a special R2D2 styled console that will have custom sounds built in instead of the normal ones we are used to, also it will be bundled with a golden C3P0 styled controller and an all-white Kinect to go along with it. Also it comes with Kinect, Kinect Adventures, and a 320GB hard drive. The price of the bundle will be $449, which is a small price to pay for amazing.

Zelda Skyward Sword trailer flies out of Comic Con

Before Nintendo graces our presence with the Wii U in our homes, they aren’t going to let the Wii collect dust the entire time. At Comic Con today Nintendo of America released a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword which shows off some gameplay segments with our favorite green tunic wearing hero. Also a lot of flying moments and jumping off of cliffs.

Now if only they would announce something new for the Wii, considering the poor thing has only 1 title coming out all year that is worth mentioning from Nintendo. With the Wii’s last days upon us, it appears the Skyward Sword will be the consoles death knell. Either way, check out the trailer below.
