Those of you who have eagerly been waiting for word of the next 3D Classic to hit the 3DS Virtual Console are in luck as Konami’s Twinbee has been announced to be joining the rather small line-up on August 10th for Japan. Oddly enough, this top down shooter never officially released outside of the region (except in a Konami compilation game), so it may end up never crossing shores.
As you see in the picture above, instead of the 3D add-in, Twinbee will feature curtains located on each side of the top screen with the player’s score resting on the bottom. I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing Twinbee come out to the 3DS Virtual Console here, but I am still patiently waiting on some Kid Icarus or Metroid love at the moment. So now you tell us, is TwinBee a game you would buy on the 3DS?
In just a few weeks, Rayne will finally re-emerge on the Xbox Live Arcade and PSN in Bloodrayne Betrayal. Majesco and Wayforward have been slowly teasing us with screenshots and trailers over the past few months for the game, and today is no different as a few new screens have been released to make the now small wait feel like an eternity.
In the screenshots (which you can view below), we see Rayne pulling off some new aerial maneuvers, tackling a large boss, and even firing a large firearm in what appears to be a level puzzle. Enjoy the madness below and stay tuned, as I am sure there will be even more teases coming our way up until the August 31st release date.
Game developer Joymax has officially opened the doors for their beta test of Karma Online: Prisoners of the Dead. The game has been developed with a World War II theme surrounding the Axis and Allies. The most notable units thus far are Germans and Russians. Strictly online, Prisoners of the Dead offers a multitude of modes to play. While playing through the beta, I did not notice a particular storyline or single-player mode.
The first interesting aspect I noticed was the inventory. Not only are you allowed to change up your weapon schematic, but you are also able to allocate skills to increase effectiveness in battle. For instance if you put 3 skill points in “Precise Aim”, your character will have 10% reduced recoil – this would help immensely while using a sniper rifle. Unlike other online FPS games, Karma Online requires you to repair your equipment after battle. You will not be able to use your items if they have too much wear on them. Make sure your primary weapon in your inventory is equipped otherwise you will not be carrying one. *Trust me, it learned the hard way.*
Upon entering the selection screen, the player is able to choose which faction to play as. The game will start loading as soon as the host starts the match. Players may navigate and change equipment in inventory while the game is actually going on. Once the player hits the “ready” button, they cannot navigate off of the screen and will join the active game.
After you have severely embarrassed yourself in combat, you can observed the results of battle. Total XP, KP, and skill points are noted at the top of the summary. Experience is utilized to measure the skill and time put forth in a player. As more experience is gained, new weapons and characters become available. Sadly, this game measures your accuracy. I do not see this as problem if you are trying to mow down your opponents…
Karma Online: Prisoner of the Dead is definitely worth a look. Remember the beta is open until August 16th, so get your WW2 gear on and join in on the fun. You can catch me online as the PoidPipper.

The Razer Imperator 2012 is an incredibly comfortable mouse that I almost immediately fell in love with. It is both Aesthetically, ergonomically and performance-ie pleasing, which is something that every gamer on the market is looking for in a mouse. The lighting and pulsating razer logo are an amazing bonus to an already awesome mouse.
During my incredibly long playtest of several games, such as: World of Warcraft, QuakeLive, Unreal Tournament 2004, Duke Nukem Forever, Half-Life 2 Episode 1 and a few others, I noticed that this mouse was incredibly comfortable to use and made playing these games a much more enjoyable experience. The mouse slides seamlessly across my desk, and in the same manner across the pixels of my monitor, which makes clicking between icons an easy task.
A lot of gamers believe that having a superior peripheral will make you a superior gamer. Now, while I disagree with that sentiment, I should point out that with the Imperator 2012 I was indeed landing more shots on a bad day than I would if I was using my old mouse (Microsoft Basic Optical Black). Now, I’m not saying that the Imperator is a substitute for skill, but it is able to keep up with your movements and thus keeping in-line with your own skillset.
The clincher for most hardware with me is whether or not it can keep up with me in a game of Unreal Tournament 2004. Now, anyone can play this game with any hardware, but I’ve gotten so good at it that I actually have to play with Godlike bots and Instagib rifle mutators just so that I can have a challenge. And well, the mouse was able to keep up with me, even if I didn’t score the highest that I had ever done. There’s too much luck involved to test it score wise, I was looking more towards how the mouse was reacting to my movements, the Godlike Instagib part is purely for a challenge. And the mouse was able to better match my movements than my old one, so I’d easily recommend this mouse to anyone.
The mouse comes with a number of additions, including a mouse speed adjustment toggle, mappable buttons 4 and 5 (which are located to the left of the mouse, a switch to move the side buttons and these pretty blue lights on the mouse wheel and in the razer logo across the palm of the mouse.
The mouse speed toggle is represented by two buttons on the mouse, a higher button located just under the scroll and a lower buytton just below the higher button. Pressing either of these will increase or decrease the mouse speed, depending on which one you hit. I quite like this feature as it allows you to adjust to certain situations on the fly, like when you need to tighten your aim to hold your lightning stream on an opponent, and can increase your versatility in combat quite quickly, without you needing to go into an option menu to adjust sensitivity.
These two mappable buttons on the side of the mouse can be used within most games that allow you to map actions to additional keys or buttons. What I liked about this is that they can come in handy for quick-use items in certain games, keeping you alive without needing to reach across your keyboard to activate them. Another useful feature with these is that they can be adjusted for your thmubs positioning by reaching below the mouse and by flicking the toggle below. I believe this would be useful for people who like to hold the mouse in a particular way, I keep mine in the upper position, but some players might prefer them to be lower.
Lastly, I want to talk about the lighting. The Lights are a beautiful blue colour that are LED in nature (I believe). The light in the mousewheel is always on, which gives it this almighty presensce when it’s not being used, though I’m not sure how much power this is costing me… it shouldn’t be too much though, aren’t LED’s low power? On the palm of the mouse lies a pulsating Razer logo which is the same blue as the mousewheel. This is a nice addition and the mouse wouldnt be quite the same without it. When lifting the mouse off a surface, both lights on the device dim, but do not turn off, which could be useful for troubleshooting should anything go wrong. With the lights though, I did notice one thing that’s kind of fun. When you hold it over a surface at a particular elevation and angle, the moise has trouble working out if its lifted or grounded and begins to pulsate between light and dim. No idea if it’s damaging the mouse or not, but, for review purposes, I had to try out a few different things with the mouse.
Lastly, I’d like to say that installing the mouse was incredibly easy. Just plugged it in and it was good to use, no messy installations, no buggy drivers, it was just incredibly easy to set-up. After setting it up, using the mouse was something that was pretty quick to pick up on, considering I’ve been using mouses for the longest time, and working out what everything does was incredibly easy to do.
The mouse was packaged with a beautiful box, some interesting documentation and some really cool stickers to stick all over whatever you want to stick them onto. Mine are still in their sheets, but I’m sure I’ll find a use for them later.
I’m guessing that products such as the Imperator are the reason why ‘The Cult of Razer’ has so many members, everything just works and it all works well. I am in love with this mouse and wouldn’t mind picking up more Razer products in the future because of the really nice experience I’ve had with this peripheral.
Thanks to all the nice folk over at Razer for such an awesome device!
While I enjoy iOS titles for the most part, I rarely find one that truly catches my attention so much that I actually become hyped for a release. After watching the new teaser trailer for “The Dark Meadow” that developer Phosphor Games released today, I can say that this title may truly break ground in the market as not only does it look fantastic, but it also seems to be truly atmospheric and eerie.
So what is this game about and how does it play? Here is a brief summary for those looking for some details:
The Dark Meadow is a visually charged, combat intense world of exploration. You awake in a hospital uncertain of how you arrived there or why. An old man warns of a beautiful witch whose minions roam the halls seeking to kill the living. It is only when the witch is destroyed that you will be released from this unrelenting torment.
As you explore the photo-realistic world, you will need both your crossbow for ranged combat as well as your sword for in close, melee combat. Gesture-based “pull back and fire” as well as slashing combat will be instantly recognizable to iOS players, and node-based movement through the world makes navigation simple yet compelling.
Role-playing game mechanics enhance the exploration, as a wide variety of items are secreted throughout the world – from hidden scraps of paper that reveal the mystery of your imprisonment, to money which can be used to purchase better equipment and weapons.
I found it a bit odd that a sword and crossbow were the main weapons in the game, but I can say that the ideas behind the arsenal are very unique to the genre. Also, the thought of exploration being the key ingredient behind such a visual title where light creeps through shutters and the sense of being alone runs high sounds like a perfect recipe for what could be one of the most in-depth horror games we have seen for the iOS service. Watch the new trailer below and expect The Dark Meadow to be launching later on this month. Once an official date surfaces, we will be sure to keep you updated.
It’s a bittersweet day for Red Faction fans everywhere today as what looks to be the last piece of content for the series as a whole is now available on Xbox Live and the PSN. Those who shell out the 560 Microsoft points (or $6.99 for the PSN) will receive 4 new missions and 2 new weapons in the Path of War add-on for Red Faction: Armageddon, with new achievements and trophies in tow.
I hope that this DLC gives a proper end to the series, as THQ have now abandoned the Red Faction name completely to concentrate on bigger properties. If you owned and enjoyed Red Faction: Armageddon, you can give this bit of content a download today and support the franchise for what looks to be the last time.
Spider-Man: Edge of Time will have the voice talents of film star Val Kilmer as Walker Sloan. Laura Vandervoort from Smallville and V will voice Mary Jane, while Katee Sackhoff, who played as Starbuck in Battlestar Galctica, will be the Black Cat. As far as X-Men Destiny goes, Milo Ventimiglia voices Grant Alexander, Jamie Chung is Aimi Yoshida and Scott Porter will play Adrian Luca. For some videos of these stars in action, check out our previous coverage here.
