Narrative Card-driven RPG Alice Nation Launches October 16 on Steam

0

Follow the steps of little Alice as she investigates a pastel-coloured card world full of dark secrets

Publisher 2P Games and developer Hanamiriro proudly announce that Alice Nation, a whimsical tabletop roleplaying adventure, will release on Steam on October 16 with a price of $7.99 / £7.15 / €8,15 and a 10% launch discount available for its first 14 days.

Alice Nation will throw players down the hole into an enchanting world made of cards where not everything is what it seems, challenging them to solve puzzles, collect resources, meet eccentric companions, and explore the mysterious land, The Beyond, seeking a way back to the real world.

Players will follow the steps of Alice, a quiet girl who suddenly wakes up in The Beyond, as she tries to find a way back to reality. A narrative that will unfold on the tabletop through card interactions: drawing action cards, managing inventory items, exploring unfolding landscapes, trading with quirky locals and facing hostile encounters.

Inspired by titles such as Cultist Simulator or Stacklands, Alice Nation encourages players to think outside the box and explore card combinations that might not be evident at first sight. Combats can be handled in many different ways: whether to observe calmly, exchange pleasantries, or deliver a swift elbow strike yields completely different outcomes.

Choosing whether to observe calmly, exchange pleasantries, or deliver a swift elbow strike yields completely different outcomes. Players can synthesize bizarre tools through trial and error, slip hallucinogenic mushrooms to an unsuspecting merchant, cheat in playful minigames, or pickpocket key items straight out of a boss encounter. Should players ever find themselves stuck, a guiding butterfly by the task bar gently shows the way.

Yet, behind the soft, pastel anime aesthetics lies a creeping mystery. What truly happened to Alice and who is the girl trapped within the fragile fantasy?

KEY FEATURES

  • A story that unfolds through card narrative. Every scene, action, character and item is represented as a card on a tabletop board. Players will advance in the narrative by dragging and dropping cards to explore the land, rummage for resources, solve puzzles and overcome enemies.
  • Experimenting will deliver unexpected outcomes. Instead of a rigid card combat system, Alice Nation rewards players creativity and mischievous behaviour. Slip hallucinogenic mushrooms to an eccentric merchant, cheat in playful minigames, or pickpocket key items straight out of a boss encounter.
  • Progress through alchemy and guiding butterflies. Combine cards to synthesize tools, spend skill points to unlock new ability cards. If players ever feel lost, there will be a fluttering butterfly pointing out the way on the task bar.
  • An unsettling narrative shift. Behind the gentle visual and pastel colours, lies a creeping psychological mystery. When the cheerful fairy-tale facade cracks, distorted dimensions emerge, shadows loom and reality begins to blur.

Automate Annihilation: Roguelike Factory Defense Title BELTFED Announced, Playable Steam Demo Coming Soon

0

Hello World Studios’ genre blending roguelike casts players as a rogue AI automating an escalating war against waves of bugs, with a playable demo coming soon to Steam.

September 14th, 2026: Hello World Studios has announced that the Steam page for BELTFED, the studio’s debut title, is now live. Alongside the announcement, the studio confirmed that a playable demo will be available on Steam later this year.

The demo will give players their first hands on look at BELTFED’s gameplay, which tasks players with automating a factory that feeds an escalating war machine while defending it against waves of enemies. BELTFED remains in development, with further details on a full release to follow.

Watch the BELTFED Announcement Trailer Below.

BELTFED is a roguelike factory defense game that combines factory automation with large scale wave based defense. Players take on the role of a rogue AI whose one directive is to automate death – laying conveyor belts, wiring up smelters and assemblers, and arming an ever expanding war machine as waves of giant hostile enemy insects grow larger with every run. The game is built around a roguelike run structure, with a massive number of enemies displayed on screen at once,  kill counts reaching the millions in single runs, and meta progression carrying players forward between attempts.

BELTFED is being developed by Hello World Studios, a two person team founded by brothers Troy and Toby, who grew up in Cornwall, UK and both studied at Falmouth Games Academy. The studio combines backgrounds in indie game development and large scale distributed systems engineering, a combination the team credits directly with BELTFED’s ability to target very large numbers of on screen enemies.

“We’ve spent our careers building things that have to work at scale, whether that’s game systems or backend infrastructure handling tens of thousands of requests a second. BELTFED is what happens when we point that experience at a factory full of guns instead.” – Toby, Co-Founder, Hello World Studios

BELTFED is available to Wishlist on Steam now.

Key features of BELTFED include:

  • Factory Automation: Conveyor belts, smelters and assemblers turn raw resources into an endless supply of ammunition.
  • Tower Defense Combat: Guns, flamethrowers, rocket launchers, mortars, lasers, drones and mines, all supplied by your own production lines.
  • Massive Swarms: Ludicrous amounts of enemies on screen at once, with kill counts reaching the millions in a single run.
  • Roguelike Runs: Every run is a fresh build with a defined beginning and end, not a base to maintain indefinitely.
  • Run-Defining Upgrade Cards: In-run upgrades that change how you play, everything from exploding buildings to cannons that fire black-holes. No run is the same.
  • Base Building & Expansion: Balance industry, power and security while pushing into the fog for rarer resources.
  • Meta Progression: Unlock new technology, buildings, weapons, Nexus cores and run-altering modules that persist across sessions.
  • Multiple Planets: Travel to exotic  new worlds, then kill everything living on them. Each planet has its own rules and hazards.

Players can wishlist BELTFED on Steam now and via the game’s official website. A playable demo will be available on Steam later this year.

SYSTEM 3 REIMAGINES A PLATFORMING CLASSIC WITH PUTTY WORLD

0

An early playable technology and graphics demonstration at Tokyo Game Show offers a first look at System 3’s new “What If?” approach to retro gaming

TOKYO, JAPAN — Sept. 14, 2026 — System 3 today revealed a new look at Putty World, an ambitious reimagining of its classic Putty series for Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for release in Q2 2027.

Retro gaming is more popular than ever, but much of the conversation continues to focus on the pixel art and games of the 1980s. System 3 believes the next wave of retro appreciation will look toward the mid-1990s, an important transitional period when developers began using rendered animation frames to give 2D characters greater depth, detail and expression, shortly before real-time polygonal graphics became the new industry standard.

Putty World is built around a simple question:

What if Nintendo Switch 2 hardware had existed in the mid-1990s?

What would the Putty series have looked and played like if its original creators had access to modern processing power, higher frame rates, greater memory, improved resolution and today’s dual-stick, multi-button controllers?

This concept forms the foundation of System 3’s new “What If?” series, which will explore how classic games could have looked, felt and played if today’s technology had been available when they were originally created.

“With Putty World, we are not simply asking how we can reproduce a game from the past, we are asking what we might have created in the mid-1990s if we had access to the technology available today,” said Mark Cale, founder and CEO of System 3“The original Putty games were shaped by the imagination of their creators and the capabilities of the hardware at the time. Our ‘What If?’ concept allows us to revisit that same creative vision without those technical limitations, combining the character, humour and personality of the originals with the fluidity, responsiveness and visual detail now possible on Nintendo Switch 2.”

The version being shown at Tokyo Game Show is a very early playable technology and graphics demonstration, created to showcase the evolving controls, recreated visuals, richer animation, improved playability and greater fluidity of Putty World. It is not the finished game and does not represent the final content or complete playable experience. System 3 continues to recreate and update the game’s graphics while developing new enemies, levels, bosses and additional content ahead of its Q2 2027 release.

Three Putty Worlds Connected in One Game

Putty World brings together the worlds of Putty, Super Putty and Putty Squad in one connected experience. As players progress, they will unlock recreated and updated levels inspired by other games from across the series.

The game is planned to include 75 new or extensively updated levels, with more than 45 new enemies already added. Players will encounter new opponents, expanded enemy behaviours and new ways in which enemies react, attack and fight. Additional surprises are being introduced throughout development, including end-of-level bosses and dedicated boss battles.

Putty himself has also been given considerably more personality and expression. The updated character features more than 50 facial-expression combinations, helping him react dynamically to the world and events around him.

From Nintendo Switch to Nintendo Switch 2

At gamescom, System 3 demonstrated the scale of the transformation by comparing the Nintendo Switch version of Putty Squad directly with Putty World running on Nintendo Switch 2.

The comparison highlighted the completely recreated graphics, more detailed character renders, richer animation, modernised controls, improved playability and substantially greater fluidity made possible by the new hardware.

System 3’s goal is for Putty World to capture the imagination and distinctive character of a special platform game from the mid-1990s, reimagined without the technical restrictions of the era and made possible by Nintendo Switch 2.

The game is being developed with a stable 60 frames-per-second target and is designed to support 1080p resolution in handheld mode and up to 4K when played on a TV.

Putty World is scheduled for release for Nintendo Switch 2 in Q2 2027. Further gameplay, development updates and details about the game’s content will be revealed as production continues.
