Mass Effect 3 trailer brings some combat footage

In the latest trailer for Mass Effect 3 we are shown off plenty of combat, though the trailer itself only says that it will be Part 1. However many parts of course wasn’t said but what is shown off in the trailer is a very large amount of new combat mechanics, including a melee attack and squad leadership abilities.

The focus of the trailer is obviously on the leadership abilities as we hear the generic looking Shepherd command his crew to go behind the boxes or attack the enemies. With the Kinect capability in Mass Effect 3, expect to be yelling a lot of orders at your TV to make your crew do what you want them to do. I personally can’t wait until next year when the game is released as well as for Part 2 of this video set.

Bodycount demo now available on Xbox 360; PS3 soon

Despite there not being a whole lot of coverage for the game, Bodycount is still going to be released in the next couple of weeks for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. To help build up a little bit of a following they have decided to release a demo for Bodycount today on the Xbox Live Marketplace. For unknown reasons the PlayStation 3 demo has not been released at this time, though will be sometime before release.

Players will enter into the early parts of the African missions and be dropped into a warzone. They will have a large arsenal of weapons at their disposal including a Super 90 shotgun and plenty of explosives. Players can earn intel by getting high scores through kills and other things. Also, what game can’t be loved when it has exploding bullets? Bodycount will be released on August 30th in North America for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. You can add the demo to your Xbox Download Queue here.

Prototype 2 evolves into awesomeness with latest trailer

Prototype 2 has received a whole lot of teaser videos and when we first saw that the newest trailer was called the Evolution of Awesome we thought that perhaps things would change. Little did we know we were very wrong. Rather than seeing something fancy or over the top, we are only given the Flight of the Valkyries to listen to as we see slow motion footage of James Heller about to destroy a helicopter.

Prototype 2 still won’t be out until April 24th of next year so they have a whole lot of time to keep building up the hype for the game, though the eventual showing of legitimate gameplay footage could always be for the better. Still… with the pedigree of the enjoyable first installment to the series, there is little doubt that Prototype 2 won’t be just as fun, if not more.

DmC Devil May Cry gets its first gameplay trailer

Capcom revealed their first gameplay footage for DmC Devil May Cry. Despite the huge amount of fan controversy over the look that the main character is going to have, Capcom is going to retain the whole new looking Dante that is half angel and half demon. In the gameplay footage we see both his holy and dark side used in combat.

The combat itself of course, hasn’t changed much from your standard Devil May Cry formula with plenty of juggling combat and extensive melee moves which will destroy any enemies in your path, Catch the gameplay footage below and the new Ninja Theory developed DmC Devil May Cry sometime next year.

Square Enix to change their name back to Square?

This can currently be taken as a rumor at best, but a new trademark was filed by Square Enix recently which only said the name “Square” on the file. This was found by Destructoid initially and scanned the document which you can see below. Square Enix may not be going through a name change but this evidence is a bit strange.

Over the course of the companies history it was titled on games as either Square or SquareSoft but when they purchased Enix they changed their name to Square Enix and it has been that way ever since. We have reached out to our contacts at Square Enix in the hopes for some clarification on this issue.

Trenched will be named Iron Brigade when it is released in Europe

Double Fine and Microsoft announced at Gamescom that they would be changing the name of Trenched, which was released back in June in North America. The reason that the game had been delayed in Europe was due to trademark problem with the makes of the board game named “Trench” who intended to use the title to create some sort of video game in Europe.

In an effort to avoid any legal battles and potentially delay release of the title even longer, Microsoft will be releasing the game in September under the new name Iron Brigade. The name itself most likely is a reference to the mechs that the player uses to defend themselves and destroy their enemies. The price for the title will most likely remain the same as it was when it was released in North America at 1200 MSP.

Epic Games reveals five titles unrelated to Gears of War under development

During a talk earlier this morning at GDC Europe, Epic Games’ company president Mike Capps happened to let slip that they are currently working on a number of projects at this moment in time. He didn’t make a big deal about the announcement but did say that they are working on “five new games at various stages of prototyping and development” and that, considering their team size hasn’t increased drastically that these games will be on smaller scale.

He also said that at the moment they were “not ready to announce anything” though he did hint that the PC is going to be the company’s platform of choice and not the other way around. Joystiq followed up with Capps and he also mentioned that they are going to be working with Chair and People Can Fly on these projects.

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor trailer released; will use Kinect and Controller together next year

Despite being announced last year at Tokyo Game Show, the Kinect using Steel Battalion: Heavy armor has never received any press nor media releases from Capcom. That is until Gamescom of course because earlier today Capcom released some information for Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, including the trailer which you can see below.

Heavy Armor will have players controlling Vertical Tanks and will apparently make use of both the Kienct and the Xbox 360 controller. The controller will be used for most things, such as moving, aiming and firing while the Kinect will be used for starting engines, using your scope to aim or operate a heavy machine gun mounted on a turret. With the Kinect you can also communicate with your fellow crew members which will sounds amazing in theory. We’ll have to see just how good this game is when it comes out next year on the Xbox 360.

Battlefield 3 multiplayer turns on the jets

Hm, I’m not really sure what to say about this one to be honest with you. Earlier today Battlefield 3 released a new trailer for Battlefield 3’s multiplayer which shows off plenty of gameplay and intense combat between 64 players fighting against one another, including inter-vehicular combat. Though something that should be paused and taken in for a second is the fact that Battlefield 3 will have jet combat.

Yes you saw and heard that right. As you can see in the below trailer Battlefield 3 will have first-person dogfights in midair between fighter jets… in the multiplayer mode… Well it is easy to say that I can’t wait for October 25th now when Battlefield 3 is released on the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 because that right there just sold me my friends.
