The Future of Hunter x Hunter Manga

In the latest chapter of Hunter x Hunter, a new story arc begun, that arc being the Chairman Election arc. Several new characters were introduced as part of the Hunter Associations 12 elite hunter group, The Hunter Jyuunishin (12 Zodiac Animals). Each of the new characters represent an animal of the zodiac, excluding one, that being none other than Gon’s father, Ging Freecss.

In Ging’s first physical appearance, he announces his candidacy to replace former and late Chairman Netero. That is were the complication arrises. The end-point of this series, is Gon finding his father Ging. However if Ging becomes the Chairman of the Hunter Association, which at this point is honestly very likely, Ging would be out in the open for Gon to find him, but unless you take into account the final conditioning for how the election is to be held, he may not be the only candidate possible to be elected as the new Chairman.

The way it was decided the election should be held with every Hunter in the world being both a candidate and a voter. This essentially could mean that anyone could become the next Chairman. This opens things up to several possibilities if you take into account that it would obviously (if being anyone besides Ging) be a previously introduced character. The possibilities that first spring to mind are characters such as Chrollo, Satotz and Killua’s father. In my opinion besides Ging they are the next immediate choices. However since Ging taking the part of Chairman would mean revealing himself to Gon, leaves me thinking that Chrollo may find a way to be elected, thus bring Kurapika back into the mix and causing a stir with the Hunter Association.

But where does the series go once the next Chairman is decided and what will happen with Gon in emergency care?

Well taking into account that whoever takes over as Chairman is bound to cause a stir and would perhaps set off a chain of events that would bring our main cast back together. I am guessing the Chairman will be a former antagonist in order to create a reason for the main characters to get involved in some manner.

As for Gon in critical condition, I suspect Leorio will make his long awaited return, finally having learn Nen. What will his Nen be? I am suspecting it will be a type of healing based Nen. Afterall he wanted to become a doctor. Who better to heal Gon? I highly suspect Killua was calling Leorio.

To be bring this back to the Chairman Election, some people believe that if Ging is elected, that Hunter x Hunter may be nearing it’s end. I however think there is far too much left unresolved for the manga to be even close to it’s end. For instance, there are several hanging plotlines right now, such as: Kurapika’s vendetta against the Phantom Troupe, Killua’s desire to take vengeance upon his family for his brutal torture since birth, Hisoka and Gon’s rematch, Leorio opening his free medical clinic, Chrollo breaking Kurapika’s Nen binding curse and of course Gon finally finding his Father Ging.

There is simply too much currently unresolved for Hunter x Hunter to be even close to it’s end. Which leads me to the conclusion that we still have a long road ahead of us before this manga’s final page is turned. What do you think of the future of Hunter x Hunter? Unreal Engine 3 Now Has Flash Support

Epic Games, makers of the excellent and fun Unreal Tournament series, have recently announced their leading game development engine, Unreal Engine 3, is now integrated with Flash support.

This means that in the future, it is possible for games built on the Unreal Engine to be ported into flash formats to be played in a web browser. Hopefully, this will lead to some of Epics more popular franchises, and orginally created games, to be more accessible by the public and to be played across multiple platforms more easily. We could even one day be seeing a facebook edition of Unreal Tournament 3 (though it’s unlikely, as the precache download would be ENORMOUS!).

On the engine, Epic had this to say –

“With UE3 and Flash, games built for high-end consoles can now run on the Web or as Facebook apps, reaching an enormous user base,” said Sweeney. “This totally changes the playing field for game developers who
want to widely deploy and monetize their games.”

Epic’s Unreal Engine is freely available for the public to build games on using the Unreal SDK.

WWE All Stars for the 3DS pummels out a new Trailer…

Instead of bringing WWE ’12 to portables this year, THQ are planning on producing a port for WWE All Stars for the 3DS. After a bit of waiting, a new trailer has now been released to give players a good glimpse inside the game. As far as looks go, the same campy art style has been used with this 3DS incarnation and even the over-the-top combat seems relatively unchanged.

One thing this trailer does display that should catch many fans eyes though are classic moments in cutscene form that were ripped straight out of past WWE shows. This title also marks the first wrestling title for the 3DS, so there is no doubt WWE All Stars will attempt to set a bar for all other contenders in the market. You can watch the two eras collide in the new trailer below and let us know what you think of this port in the comments section below.

NBA 2K12 Australian Launch

I woke up this morning in the hope of clicking onto NBA.com and seeing that the lockout is finally over, but was disappointed to see that “talks come to a halt as sides dispute the split of money”. Oh is THAT why there is a lockout? Talk after talk after talk….after talk…And we’re right back where we started. But that wasn’t going to ruin my day, because I still had the NBA 2k12 launch to go to!

We finally got our hands on the game as we partied it up, joined by the Sydney Kings, Aussie hip hop artist Kid Mac (pictured below), not to mention the creators of the game and other 2K Sports games, Visual Concepts. Even recent Sydney King signing Jerai Grant was there, nephew of Jordan’s former teammate Horace Grant.

When I wasn’t playing the game, I was enjoying the replays of classic matches, featuring most of the NBA’s Greatest which appear in 2k12. I don’t think I will ever get tired of being reminded of the reason’s why MJ is still the greatest player we’ve ever seen.

I’m not gonna give my impressions away too early as the review will be up in the next few days (so don’t forget to check back!), but I can say I’m not going to be frustrated by the lockout quite so much anymore.

NBA 2K12, as if you didn’t know, will be out on Friday!

Sega Bass Fishing & Space Channel 5: Part 2 Now Available on the XBLA & PSN!

If you happened to have missed out on the Sega Dreamcast Collection earlier this year, you will be happy to know that both Sega Bass Fishing and Space Channel: 5 Part 2 are now available on both the Xbox Live Arcade and PSN. As many of you should know, Space Channel: 5 Part 2 is a rhythm action game that seen first life in Japan and was later ported to the Playstation 2 while Sega Bass Fishing went down as one of the best fishing titles of all time during the Dreamcast era. After spending a ton of time with both, I can say these two classics feel as timeless as ever and look great in their shiny HD formats.

Each title is available for $9.99/800 Microsoft points, but those who are wanting both might also want to look into that Dreamcast Collection that comes bundled with Crazy Taxi and Sonic Adventure (which is a much better value as a whole).
