You have to hand it to DICE and EA, they managed to keep Battlefield 3’s achievement list under wraps for quite a long period of time. Usually a game’s achievement list is revealed a month or two ahead of time but they managed to keep it hidden until just two weeks before the title’s release date of October 25th in North America at least.
The achievement list can be found over at Xbox360Achievements and we can assume that the trophies for the game will be mirror images of these. These achievements are mostly for certain tasks performed as well as a few story related ones so of course, read at your own risk for spoilers. Plus there are six secret achievements which have yet to be revealed. Care to take a guess as to what they could be?
L.A. Noire’s development studio has had a rough time of things. The news has went from poor working conditions, to villainous bosses, to studio closure and now the company owes tons of money to their employees. As Edge Magazine reports, the developers in the production, programming, design and gameplay are owed anywhere between $1,600 to $99,000 each as well as the boss Brendan McNamara owed $102,000.
To make matters worse, since the company has shut down, they also owe creditors and a number of other branches of the studio a collective amount equaling $1.4 million. Since the studio has been shut down and is being sold off chunk by chunck, the chances of these people seeing anywhere near that amount are slim.
Fruit Ninja is without a doubt one of the most addicting experiences you can find on the iOS (and more recently the Xbox 360 with Kinect). So what happens when you get Dreamworks involved with the hit slicing title? Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots. Yes, you heard that right. Halfbrick are preparing to release a new version of Fruit Ninja with the famous feline that is also about to star in his own film on October 28th.
This new version also includes a “Bandito” mode where players can slice their way through several challenges as well as the much requested addition of the Tomato. The “desperado” mode features a more classic feel of the original with fruit, unique waves and Puss in Boots’ elusive Magic Beans.
I know this is a movie tie-in and we usually know how those perform, but this one just looks like a perfect fit as Puss in Boots is known for his ferocious swordwork, which should blend perfectly with that classic fruit chopping gameplay. A new trailer was released today to show off this spin-off, which you can check out below. Fruit Ninja: Puss in Boots releases October 20th on the Apple Marketplace.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine has been out for quite a bit of time now, but Relic hasn’t forgotten about the title. In fact they have a free piece of co-op DLC coming out for it on October 25th reports Eurogamer. While the DLC, Exterminatus has been talked about for awhile, this is the first time they announced a release date for the content.
This update will be released at the same time on all platforms. There will also be more downloadable content in the future but currently Relic is keeping tight lipped about what that content may be. Now the question here is whether or not this DLC is too little too late, as it is nearly that time of year when triple-A titles are released at a weekly pace.
Up for an intersting challenge? Well Terry Cavanagh’s interesting title VVVVVV is making the jump from being available only on the PC to being available soon on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. This release comes courtesy of Nicalis who is also developing Cave Story 3D which will be released later this year on the 3DS.
The move provides VVVVVV with full 3D and will also take place on both the top and bottom screen of the 3DS with the map on the bottom offering directions and of course the top for navigating. The 3DS will also see a number of new levels added to the original version as well as future update through the system’s spotpass service. Currently there is no price estimate but it’s always good to see an Indie title make it to a handheld.
For those who wish to be challenged when they are playing the next Hitman game, there is a special mode just for you. A hardcore mode will be added to Hitman Absolution which is designed to be quit difficult and rewards players for being stealthy and methodical with their play. This of course will then be rewarded with achievements/trophies depending on the system.
Producer of Hitman Absolution, Hakan Abrak spoke with Eurogamer about the game mode saying that the team “We will get into more details at a later point, but obviously it’s linked to the playing style. It’s more pacify your enemies, be undetected, maybe solve the challenges in a smarter way. That will probably give you a stealth assassin achievement.”
This of course means things will be quite difficult and challenging for achievement hunters. But Abrak also says that this will hopefully swing public opinion away from the thought of believing that Absolution won’t be stealth oriented.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have teamed up with developers Snowblind Studios to provide us with yet another trailer for the upcoming Lord of the Rings: War in the North. This one shows off one of the bosses – Barrow-wight Lord.
Middle-earth is home to creatures more fearsome than orcs. More cunning than trolls. More loathsome than giant spiders.
Lurking in the forgotten tombs of Barrow-downs, dwelling amongst the fallen dead, the Barrow-wights wait under reign of the Barrow-wight Lord. Revealed in this new video, the Barrow-wight Lordhas overtaken this sacred Ranger burial ground. He uses magic and minions most foul to spread the rule of evil in the darkness and death of his lair.
The battle cry of the dwarf, the sword of the human, the staff of the elf – all must be used to best this most despicable boss and its hordes of skeletal servants. The Barrow-wight Lord uses his powers to pit man against man, friend against friend – only the strongest of Fellowships will best him.
Nintendo are prepping for their monumental release of Skyward Sword on November 20th. To further the hype train even more (as if they really needed to), more details have now been released that explain the first area Link will traverse to as well as the return of his trusty slingshot and an all new dowsing mode.
Here is the new info for you Zelda hardcore to gobble up while you patiently wait:
Faron Woods and Skyview Temple: The forest is the first location Link visits after leaving Skyloft, an island world suspended high in the sky. The people of Skyloft have never been to the surface, so this stage marks a strange new experience for Link. Traversing the forest leads him to Skyview Temple, where Zelda may be held.
Dashing: By holding down the A Button, players can make Link run faster and grant him acrobatic abilities, such as the ability to briefly run up a sheer wall to grab onto a cliff. Dashing uses up some of Link’s endurance, which replenishes itself over time once Link stops running. Certain powerful attacks, like the spin attack, also use up endurance. When all of Link’s endurance is used up, his movement is slowed dramatically for a few moments.
Dowsing: Fi, the spirit of the powerful Goddess Sword and Link’s guide, informs Link that he can use the sword to search for things through dowsing. In dowsing mode, when Link holds out his sword, the sword will beep and provide visual feedback when pointed in the direction of the intended target. This technique can be used to search for many objects and characters in the game. In Faron Woods, Link uses it to search for Zelda, guiding him to Skyview Temple, where Zelda’s aura can be detected.
Kikwi Tribe: The Kikwis are cute, fuzzy creatures that Link encounters while exploring the forest, resembling a kiwi fruit in animal form. Link can search for the Kikwis in the forest using dowsing. In return, they will help him on his search for Zelda.
Slingshot: This is one of the first items that Link receives in the game. While it’s not very powerful, it can be used to stun enemies and activate objects in the environment. As with many items in the game, players aim the slingshot by moving the Wii Remote Plus.
This is Nintendo’s biggest project to date and since the game spans over 100 hours, this looks to be just the beginning of the new information that will be coming forward in the coming weeks. Stay tuned, as once even more details The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword release, we will be sure to bring them to you.
To commemorate the relaunch of their ClubNamco online store, Namco Bandai has revealed that there will be an exclusive Tekken Hybrid bundle that can only be purchased through that store. The bundle will include the Tekken Hybrid limited edition package as well as an exclusive Mad Catz Tournament Edition S FightStick with the classic Namco logo printed on the side.
You can pre-order the bundle here, but better make sure you have a decent amount of money to pull from. The bundle is running at $249.99 and is going to be limited to only a 1,000 unit run. Still for that price you get a rather classic looking fightstick as well as the contents of the game. But this is perhaps only something true fans of fighting games will see as valuable.
