The first Infinity Blade made well over $20 million bucks on the iPhone, making it one of the most successful games ever. Epic revealed at the iPhone 4S event that Infinity Blade 2 will be coming out soon. How soon? On December 1st.
If the video below is any indication this game will look fantastic.
Although Epic’s Mike Capps insisted it’s “only going to run like this on the iPhone 4S,” it certainly sounds like this sequel will also come to other iOS devices. Will you be picking this one up or is the first game good enough for you?
Hopefully Chair will show some love to consoles soon by releasing a Shadow Complex 2.
So you managed to put together 1,000 Lego pieces to create a Death Star, using instructions that Lego provided. You got nothin’. Plum Brothers have created a 1:1 scale Lancer that can shoot rubber bands. In addition, the rubber bands can be loaded into working clips. Plus, there is a safety feature. And finally, there is an option to use burst fire or single fire mode.
Oh and one more thing. The freakin’ chainsaw WORKS!
If this Lego creation doesn’t blow some minds, we don’t know what will. Lego better snap these guys up as master Lego Builders.
Ok, when do academics of gaming ever meet up? Alright there are conferences around Australia, but Macquarie University (my university) is attempting something that is open to all of the gaming public over three days later this month. Entitled GAME (with a logo that looks familiar), a collaboration Macquarie University’s IMI and the Macquarie ICT Innovations Centre, the event will cover the current issues of the gaming landscape of Australia, as well display games from both students and independent developers alike.
The three days all feature different events. Below is the details of the event:
27th October – The Politics of Play
A public debate surrounding the content, classification and effect of gaming on our society. Featured in this debate is Paul Hunt (MLCS Management & Former Deputy Director OFLC), Associate Professor Jeffery Brand (Bond University), and Dr. John Martino (Victoria University). There is the possibility of more speakers. This is one of the two free events and will start st 6:30pm. However, you would need to arrive before 6pm at building Y3A.
28th October – Theorycraft
From 9am to 5:30pm in the Y3A Building, Theorycraft is a one-day conference keynoted by Associate Professor Ian Bogost (Georgia Institute of Technology) and Professor Espen Aarseth (Centre for Computer Games Research, IT University of Copenhagen) to present cutting-edge research into videogames and gaming culture. The day will conclude with a panel discussion of leading academics from different backgrounds to examine and engage with the inter- disciplinary nature of game studies. This is not a free event. Prices are $120 for the general public and $50 for all students (all high schools and universities)
29th October – Family Festival Day
Fun for the whole family and an excuse to explore the campus, the third day will be a festival of innovative gaming experiences led by MacICT’s primary and secondary school projects. This festival will include demonstrations of student-made projects and games across multiple platforms including Microsoft Kodu and Kinect and an outdoor ARG built using ARIS. This is a free event.
If you are interested with the academic side of games, as well as looking at the future, then this is definitely worth going to. Who knows, maybe you might bump into us, as Sydney editors of Capusle Computers, including myself, will be there.

Apparently, racing cars on the edge of a cliff is a little dangerous. At least, that is what we gathered from the trailer below. Also, cops have rough life. All they are trying to do is protect citizens and then they get crushed by a semi. That has to ssuuuck…
But seriously though, it is interesting to see how Black Box is implementing some emotion into the Need for Speed series. In addition, they are cranking up the dark factor up to 11, which is a nice change. After all, the world of crime isn’t quite as glorious as some games would have you believe.
A leaked UK Gamestop video has shown up on these here internetz and it shows Robin in action. Robin will be available exclusively as a Gamestop preorder bonus. In addition to the Robin character, 2 challenge maps will be available as part of the bonus. Plus, 2 extra skins, or different costumes, will be included that Robin can change into. Or rather that you can change Robin into.
Robin looks like a badass from the video below. He carries a huge stick and whacks baddies with it. Whats more awesome than that?
I guess whacking people with your fists would be cooler….
Want more bubblegum chomping action from the master of alien slaying? Then you are in luck, as Gearbox has just announced that the “Hail to the Icons” Parody content is coming on October 11, 2011 for the lovely price of 10 smackaroos or 800 Microsoft points. Of course, if you happened to join the First Access Club, then this DLC will be comped.
Freeze Tag, Hail to the King, and Hot Potato multiplayer modes will be added in this DLC. Hot Potato is described as “see who can hold on to the babe the longest.” Four new maps, which will parody other FPS games, are also a part of the new content. Will you be buying it?
Betrayal, Revenge, Tears; all are prevalent in this new trailer for the upcoming game in the Heroes of Might & Magic franchise from Ubisoft. The trailer is titled tears, and showcases some of the games more dramatic and emotional moments.
Demons, Angels, armies and more; this game looks as though it will feel similarly to the classic Heroes games. The basic premise of the game is as follows –
A legendary Archangel General, killed during the war of the Elder races,
is resurrected. Under the cover of preparations for an upcoming Demon
invasion, he plots to recover his powers and take control of Ashan while
eradicating his ancient enemies. He underestimates, however, the power
of the all-too-human Griffin dynasty. The destiny of these Griffin
heroes will be determined by our players.
And, the caption for this trailer is –
The world of Ashan is at war ! On October 13th, choose your allegiance…

These days, your not a proper wrestling title if you don’t have a decent create-a-wrestler mode. The Hulkster seems to know this, as new screens revealed today show off what players can expect in Hulk Hogan’s Main Event.
This small set gives us a better glimpse of the creation process, while also fully displaying the models players will be using. Things look pretty standard as far as customization goes, but I really am digging the over-the-top art style that these wrestlers have. Just look at those chins! They beg for Bruce Campbell to be a star player in everyone’s roster.
This is the first true wrestling title to feature Kinect controls, and definitely one of the more polished Kinect titles we have seen as of yet. Check out the screens below and prepare yourself BROTHER!, as Hulk Hogan’s Main Event leg drops into stores next Tuesday on October 16th.
