WildChords makes the iPad get musical

Get ready to rock as WildChords makes its debut on iPads on November 17! WildChords is a Freemium title, with 26 fun and motivating exercises for beginners and intermediate guitar players and additional lessons available with in-app purchases.

Using the iPad’s microphone, the educational game can be played with your acoustic or electrical guitar at your pace, providing feedback on your progression and skill. And not only are you learning things, but they’ve got a game to go along with it too. You strum through lessons to hypnotise and collect escaped zoo animals so you can lure them out of Ovelin City. Each set of lessons is through Ovelin City, searching of animals and building your skill and teaching proper chord and scale executions.

WildChords also includes an integrated tuner that uses the iPad’s microphone as well, so you can keep your guitar tuned up for when you want to take on the game.

Check out the first tutorial below!

WildChords is available for free on November 17, so if you’re a guitar person make sure that you grab a copy of the app.

Compile Heart Teasing Noire Spin-off Game?

Hyperdimension Neptunia goes to ground rarely, if at all done in the gaming world: the three major companies ally with each other to defeat a great evil that threatens Gameindustri, the land of all that is video games. Recently, a poll was conducted in Japan to determine which of the Hyperdimension Neptunia characters is their favourite. Noire (who represents the Playstation 3) came up on top, so Compile Heart released “Noire Style”, which one can see below:

Does this mean something is going down within the Neptunia universe? Well, in “Noire Style”, there is a sentence that translates to “Urgent News!! Noire is the focus of a new game!?” Does that mean that Noire will star on her own with a game focusing on her? Well, considering she is a character who likes fighting on her own, this would be no surprise.

Gundam Unicorn Heads To Playstation 3

On the back of Gundam Ace, a Level-5 creation with help with Sunrise to develop the anime, another Gundam series is now heading to the Playstation 3. Gundam Unicorn will be based on the first three episodes of the anime (there are only four actually developed) and slated for a spring 2012 release. The game will be published by Namco Bandai and developed by From Software, the team behind Demon Souls and Dark Souls, so the game is actually in good hands.

In Famitsu, an interview was conducted, revealing a few bits of information for this game. The game will focus on speed and the Mobile Suits will be realistic, with a feel of weight added to the Suits. Transformations will be re-created and not hidden from the player. There will also be quite a bit of voice acting and most of the cutscenes will be CGI, with a few maybe in anime form. Characters and mechas from Banagher, Marida and Frontal will be featured.

From Software also revealed that they were approached by Namco Bandai to create the game. They have experience with Gundam games, being the developers behind Another Century’s Episode series. There will be an updated control system taken from Another Century’s Episode that will be used in the series. There will also be a “Sub Flight” system, where the pilot can climb atop of the Suit before changing into Flight Mode. The game is 70% complete.

Tap and Attack With Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 Vita

After Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom was announced for the Playstation Vita (a launch title no less), I did wonder whether the Vita’s touch controls will be implemented in the game. Well, according to Japanese retailer Game Star, touch controls will feature in the game, alongside some of Vita other features.

The retailer makes the note on the product page. It notes that touch controls will be available for attacking the opposition. This is no surprise as it may bring in the more casual player and help them ease into the regular controls. Reality Fighters, another fighting game for the Playstation Vita, will also have touch controls for that reason, confirmed via an interview here on Capsule Computers.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be released on the Playstation Vita on December 17, the launch day of the handheld console.

Enterbrain Announces RPG Maker VX Ace, DS Plus

The RPG Maker series is quite popular in Japan and also has a small following in the West, as it allows aspiring game developers and hobbyists a chance to develop their very own sprite based RPG. Enterbrain, the developers of this series, have now revealed two new RPG Maker tools that will be released in Japan on December 15.

The first is for the main series entitled RPG Maker VX Ace, which means it will be for Windows PC. Essentially, it builds upon VX, the previous release and adds new features such as more character customisation, new enemy models, two layer backgrounds, “TP” as a parameter (alongside MP) and party members who follow the player character. Below is the video (in Japanese) showcasing these new features:

The second is entitled RPG Maker DS Plus, releasing for the DS. The creation tool, like VX Ace for the PC, will be more of an expansion for the previous game, in this case, RPG Maker DS, which was released exclusively for Japan. In DS Plus, players will be able to create RPG games using three new tilesets: school, sci-fi, and sengoku (samurai era). Check the trailer below:

I hope that we do see this released in English. I happen to be a fan of RPG Maker and have used XP and VX before, enjoying them both. Ace is the only one with any chance of English localisation, so I hope we do see this.

PSN copies of Battlefield 3 hitting glitches (Updated!)

In Europe, Battlefield 3 was released onto the Playstation Store for digital distribution. However, those copies of the game seem to be hitting a roadblock.

“EA have confirmed that there are issues with the digital build of Battlefield 3 (on the PS Store) which will be affecting people trying sign into Battlelog,” Playstation Community Team member “RabidWalker” said on the EU forum. “They are currently working on a patch for this, although no ETA has been given at the moment.”

It appears, according to Eurogamer, that since PSN copies of the game cannot be purchased used, no online pass functionality was included in the downloadable copy of the game. However, since the online pass was removed from the game, the game can not recognize Battlelog.

Yet another reason why online pass is incompetent.

Update! EA has issued a statement regarding this issue, and it appears that it may be fixed.

Electronic Arts states that: “EA WW Customer Experience is available any time of day to provide an immediate solution to any Battlefield 3 players on PSN that are experiencing log-in difficulties with Battlelog.”
