Pay what you will for Humble Indie Bundle 4

The Humble Indie Bundle returns – this time with Super Meat Boy, Shank, Jamestown, Bit.Trip runner and NightSky. For the next 14 or so hours you can head on over to the humblebundle site and pick up a deal that is as awesome as you choose to make it. That’s right – you choose the price! If you pay more than the average contribution (currently sitting at around $5 US) then you get even more – Gratuitous Space Battles and Cave Story+

This collection would usually cost upwards of $100, and includes some truly awesome titles – Super Meat Boy alone scored a perfect ten here at Capsule Computers, and you can pay as much as you want for it and up to six other games! Just to add to the deal – everything is DRM free, and can be installed as many times as you like and can even be activated on Steam. The bundle is available for Mac, Windows and Linux, and you can even choose how much of your payment goes to whom – charity payments are going to the American Red Cross and the Child’s Play Charity, whilst the developers and Humble Bundle Inc can also pick up as much or as little of your cash as you see fit.

So be quick! And grab yourself a lovely charitable bargain of indie goodness, just in time for the holidays (you can also gift code the bundle too, if you’re feeling generous).

Bleach Live-Action Fan Movie

A fan-made trailer has surfaced for a live-action adaptation of the Bleach anime series. The trailer features amateur actors alongside some funky CGI paying tribute to Bleach.

The trailer features Ichigo Kurosaki taking on a Hollow that appears early on in the anime series, soon into the battle he decides to put on his Hollow mask and unleash a huge Getsuga Tensho.

For a fan-made trailer this one features some surprisingly decent footage, with the CGI looking about on par with a SyFy telemovie. So for amateurs, that is pretty great.

You can check out the fan-made trailer below. Be sure to let us know what you think in the shoutbox and comments section.

Google Shoot View: Has This Stepped Over The Line?

2

It’s Google Street View with a virtual gun.

Created by Dutch Advertising agency Pool Worldwide, “Google Shoot View” is a modification to Google Maps that allows people to use the Street View service with a superimposed gun in their hands. Up until recently, players of the “game” could move around and shoot the M4A1 carbine, not quite what Google Maps was built for. Google has since responded and removed the site’s access to their service, citing violation of its terms of service. Yet the website has vowed to “To Be Back” as posted on their website.

Whether or not you believe in the violent video game hysteria/debate (depending on your personal views), this is all a very strange case indeed. Personally, I have to say that the creators of Google Shoot View have gone too far here. Now sure, the “game” isn’t at all realistic as essentially all you are doing is moving through still image after still image with no repercussions of your actions, Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty this is not.

But the fact of the matter is that Google Shoot View is just simply bad taste, using real world locations to simulate a shooting spree. Now of course the same could be said for Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty, but there is a fundamental difference between those fictional representations of the real world and real life itself.

At time of writing, Google Shoot View has since been taken down and all that remains on the blank webpage is “Ctrl + alt + delete”.

Is this just harmless fun or something far more disturbing. Give us your thoughts on the whole Google Shoot View debacle in the comments below or in our Shout Box.

Plants Vs Zombies To Grace The Playstation Vita

Earlier, Dustin had revealed that Plants vs Zombies, the massive tower defense game from Popcap, will be released on the Android Marketplace. The Android Marketplace is not the only new frontier for those invading zombies. The game is also going to be released on the Playstation Vita, thanks to an appearance at the Vita Social Club in San Francisco.

The news was confirmed after a tweet on the official Playstation Twitter account. It also included the picture below:

According to IGN, this version of the game will be identical to the PSN version currently available. However, they will be utilising the touch controls of the handheld, which is no surprise. The Vita version will also be available on launch day, so those who are eager (and haven’t picked up one of the many versions available) can download and play as soon as that Vita touches those hands.

Nintendo Zone is now live on the 3DS…

The 3DS update released last week and gave us quite a few new features to toy with. While it was missing at first, Nintendo have now added in the “Nintendo Zone” option, which lets players Spotpass at over 28,000 locations such as Best Buy, AT&T, and Bell and receive 3D Game Videos, demos, screenshots and more.

In a way, you could kind of think of this feature as another spin on the Pokemon Event Hotspots, but with a lot more content. If you haven’t already downloaded the Nintendo Zone app, all you have to do is perform a system update (unless you snagged it up the other day), with the full program installing itself while the system is turned on and near a Wi-Fi spot in a short timespan.

Now we can just wait and see how well Nintendo have implemented this, and what will come out of the Nintendo Zone in the future.

Christopher Nolan Talks Bane in The Dark Knight Rises

Shortly after the recent release of this brand new poster for The Dark Knight Rises hinting at defeated Batman, director Christopher Nolan spoke to The LA Times about his decision as to why he chose to make Bane the film’s primary villain.

“Bane, to me, is something we haven’t dealt with in the films.” Says Nolan, “We wanted to do something very different in this film. He’s a primarily physical villain, he’s a classic movie monster in a way — but with a terrific brain. I think he’s a fascinating character. I think people are going to get a kick out of what we’ve done with him.”

The film will take place 8 years after the previous film, The Dark Knight and is set for a July 20, 2012 release.
