Ridge Racer Unbounded new trailers reveal some nice drift

Hot on the upcoming release of Ridge Racer Unbounded the guys at Namco Bandai have released 2 more trailers, one highlighting Behind the Scenes footage with commentary from BugBear’s Joonas Laakso (Producer), Karri Kiviluoma (Lead Game Designer) and Sebastian Ahlman (Gameplay Programmer). From the looks and sounds of it there is a heavy emphasis on drift, with cars seemingly screaming round right angle corners at break neck speed with sensational fluidity. According to the team at Bugbear, this an ARCADE experience and should not be mistaken for anything but. It is fast paced, fantastically unbelievable and basically looks like a great amount of enjoyment, travelling through the streets, destroying everything in your path on your way to victory. The second trailer showcases some of the classic cars from other Ridge Racer titles that are available as free DLC when you pre-order the new title from retailers.

Witch and the Hundred Soldiers delayed in Japan

Japanese gamers were hoping that they would be able to taste some more Prinny Team deliciousness courtesy of Nippon Ichi’s upcoming title The Witch and the Hundred Soldiers in June. However it seems that the game will not be released at that time, as Nippon Ichi has officially revealed that the game will be delayed from its original release on June 28th to sometime in 2012.

Andriasang reports that the reason for this delay is that Nippon Ichi is taking extra time to improve the quality of the game and deliver a satisfactory experience. Currently the title is not set for release in North America, though it could potentially be brought over by NIS America. That of course means that any delay in the Japanese version equals a delay in North America.

Casshan: Robot Hunter licensed by Discotek

We recently reviewed the 2008 reboot of the Casshern/Casshan franchise Casshern Sins, which we gave a perfect score.

It has now been confirmed that Casshan: Robot Hunter, the 90’s OVA series in the franchise which was previously licensed and released by Madman Entertainment in Australia will be released by Discotek throughout the United States.

Casshan: Robot Hunter is often attributed as the inspiration behind Capcom’s Megaman X video game and is considered by many to be an anime classic. Discotek plan to release the 4 episode OVA series in both subtitled and dubbed format later this year. Be sure to let us know what you think of this licensing in the comments section below.

Warriors Orochi 3 may suffer one week delay in North America and Europe

Those who are waiting for Tecmo Koei’s release of Warriors Orochi 3 next week on March 20th may have to wait just a little bit longer. Siliconera is reporting that Warriors Orochi 3 will now be released on March 27th in North America and that European gamers will need to wait until April 6th before they have a chance to try out this mixture of Tecmo Koei’s beat’em up titles.

For those who haven’t heard, Warriors Orochi 3 will contain Ayane from the Dead or Alive series, Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden and even a few from some lesser known titles such as Joan of Arc from Bladestorm, Achilles from Warriors: Legends of Troy and Nemea from Trinity: Souls of Zill O’ll. At the moment this can be taken as rumor only however, as Tecmo Koei has not officially made an announcement about the delay, though we have reached out to them for comment.

Hunter x Hunter Movie Green-Lit

In what may very well be unprecedented, after only 22 episodes having aired, the 2011 Hunter x Hunter reboot anime series has been green-lit for a feature length film adaptation.

Details are currently scarce on the project besides the facts that the film will feature an original story and will be overseen by Yoshihiro Togashi himself (creator of Hunter x Hunter).  The film will like the anime series be produced by Madhouse and feature all the same cast reprising their roles. Yoshihiro Togashi will speak about the film in the 16th volume of Weekly Shonen Jump.
