Final cover art for Max Payne 3

This awesome artwork that resembles an action movie poster from the 1980s is actually the final cover art selected from the often delayed but still highly anticipated Max Payne 3. But fear not, the game is finally ready for a 2012 release and it will happen in May 2012. The latest cover art is an updated version from the one that was initially unveiled.

The game will be released for  for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on 15 May 2012 in North America and 18 May 2012 in Europe, with the PC version launching on 29 May 2012 in North America and 1 June  2012 in Europe.

Looks like Max Payne is ready to gol a Chuck Norris on the gaming world.

Nintendo Reveal first Trailer for Ketzel’s Corridors

Nintendo recently announced quite a few new additions that will be joining the eShop soon, and one of the more interesting titles listed was Ketzel’s Corridors. After just a day of waiting and wondering just how this puzzler would play though, a new trailer has risen to give us a good glimpse of what to expect.

Imagine “Hole in the Wall”, but instead of moving limbs to fit, you must quickly align Tetris-like blocks to move forward. That is the vibe given in the new clip, and with the Aztec art design and clever mechanics, I honestly think this is yet another perfect fit for the platform as the 3DS’ visual depth should make this simple puzzler a rather immersive one. Check out the first trailer for Ketzel’s Corridors down below, and once an official date is announced, we will be sure to bring out an update.

Skyrim gets a $20 price cut all over

With the (currently slated) biggest game of 2012 releasing this week, retailers everywhere have decided to temporarily cut the price of last year’s greatest, which is none other than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Gamestop,Best Buy, and Amazon are now listing the behemoth Bethesda release for just $39.99.

This includes both in-store and online pick-ups, so if you have been on the fence before for one reason or another, consider your excuses void. Another worthy mention is the coveted collector’s edition of the game, which has been discounted at all Gamestop locations for just $79.99. Yes, it indeed can be great to wait.

The Sims 3 Showtime Now Available

If you thought the lovable Sims were done yet, you would be wrong as EA are determined to lengthen the third installment event further…and this time with super-stardom. The Sims 3 Showtime is the newest expansion pack and puts your own creations in Showtime Shores, a luxurious location where these residents can get a glimpse of the fast life of fame. Your own Sim can set out to become a singer, magician, acrobat or DJ and put on performances for audiences, where the player must work hard to craft their skills in order to put on the best show possible.

Also launching alongside Showtime is The Sims 3 Showtime Katy Perry Collector’s Edition, which will use the pop-music superstar’s likeness and let players get to explore a world themed in the “California Girl” herself. I still remember quite enjoying The Urbz quite a few years ago, and even though The Sim’s constant stream of expansions can hurt the wallet, it’s still nice to know that the fans of the beloved franchise will never have to complain about wanting more.

Sega let public into Olympic Aquatic Centre

Sega are back with some more screenshots and a brand new trailer for the upcoming “London 2012” developed by Sega Studios Australia to celebrate the London Olympics coming to the world this June. This time we are graced with a fly through of the all important Aquatic Centre, which will be home to all the action packed swimming as well as the more delicate diving and brutal water polo amongst many others.

Despite still being a WIP the trailer looks aesthetically amazing, with detailed and rendered pools and stadiums, and a natural fluidity to the water movement.

Im sure there are a lot of fans waiting for some actual gameplay footage to see whether it stands up to the gorgeous looking trailers that have so far been released to us. Stay tuned for more London 2012 news.

MW3 DLC – ELITE Drops of Goodness

For all the ELITE subscribers of Modern Warfare 3, you will be excited to know that three care packages will be parachuting your way on March 13, 2012. This round of downloadable goodness involves two special ops additions as well as a new multiplayer map. Here are the details:

Drop #4 – Black Box
Nested itself amongst several gutted out mansions lies the downed Air Force One. Wait, the U.S. president’s plane was shot down? You better believe it! Making for quite an environment for battle, Black Box is the newest multiplayer map for ELITE users.

Drop #5 – Black Ice
Thought your days on a snowmobile was over? Think again as you jump into a brand new special ops mission in snow covered Russia. Drive your vehicle to the heart of an enemy diamond mine just to blow it sky high.

Drop #6 – Negotiator
Contrary to the title given to this new special ops, there is little negotiating being done. First, you need to rescue your friend in enemy territory India. Shoot first negotiate later seems a lot more probable as you navigate from building to building freeing many hostages in breach scenarios. Don’t shoot the people that are tied up – it doesn’t sit well…

Take a look at the ELITE Drop trailer below to catch the action involved in each of our care packages. Careful, Rob Riggle offers a war dog a beer. This might get a little crazy.

Catch a glimpse of Silent Hill HD Collection in this teaser trailer

While many of us have already played Silent Hill 2 and 3 and should know roughly what we can expect from the games themselves, we haven’t seen much of the Silent Hill HD Collection in action. Konami has chosen to give everyone a little taste of what to expect in the teaser trailer that was released today which can be seen below.

Unfortunately the trailer is only thirty seconds long so don’t expect to see too much besides plenty of flashes of monsters and scary scenes. At the moment the Silent Hill HD Collection is sandwiched between two other Silent Hill releases, Downpour and Book of Memories, and is set to be released on March 20th.

Battlefield 3: Close Quarters DLC announced for June release

Battlefield 3 fans rejoice, for your favorite game is going to get its first piece of actual paid DLC since the game’s release many months ago. In fact, this is the first piece of DLC since December’s release of the “Back to Karkand” expansion, which was included for most people free of charge.

Fans can expect to see this expansion pack dropping sometime in June. The expansion will feature four maps, 10 weapons and no vehicles as they are meant to focus on close quarters combat. Supposedly two more expansions are being developed for the game as well, though no release date was given for the “Armored Kill” or “End Game” expansions other than their names of course.

Play.com leaks Monster Hunter 3 and GTA: Vice City Nights and more for PlayStation Vita

Woopsie… Play.com has outed the existence of a number of PlayStation Vita games before they were ever meant to be announced. These Vita games are Monster Hunter Portable 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Nights, Tales of Innocence R and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD and they are all for PlayStation Vita. The listings have been taken down but not before being snagged by Eurogamer, though Monster Hunter Portable 3 can still be viewed here.

Out of all these titles only Vice City Nights is a newly announced title, with the others already released in Japan in other formats that don’t include the PlayStation Vita. With Sony meant to hold a PlayStation Vita Game Heaven where they will announce new games on March 9th, it is likely that all of these games will be part of that set of announcements.

Peter Molyneux leaves Microsoft and LionHead; founds 22 cans

Peter Molyneux has had a rough time of things over the last year. He has most likely had to completely recreate Fable: The Journey ever since it was shown off at E3 2011 and was criticized heavily for the fact that the game would be on-rails. Within hours after his presentation he immediately began damage control by saying it would not be on rails and everything else under the sun, however since that announcement not a single piece of media has been released for said title.

It seems things have been so rough that he has chosen to leave not only Microsoft but also his co-founded development studio, Lionhead Studios. In a statement to Kotaku he said “It is with mixed emotions that I made the decision to leave Microsoft and Lionhead Studios, the company that I co-founded in 1997, at the conclusion of development of Fable: The Journey. I remain extremely passionate and proud of the people, products and experiences that we created, from Black & White to Fable to our pioneering work with Milo and Kate for the Kinect platform. However, I felt the time was right to pursue a new independent venture.”

Since his announced departure Molyneux has stated on Twitter that he is planning on founding a new studio called 22 Cans, which is what he calls a “really amazing, scary and brave” venture.
