E3: 2012 Nike+ Kinect Training Impressions

The trend of assuming gamers are unfit and/or want to be more fit continues to propagate as the Nike+ Kinect Training was announced at the Xbox Press Conference at E3 2012.  From the looks of it, they are shooting for more than just counting steps as the Kinect seems to watch you as you exercise and take measurements as you go.  The speaker spoke about how the best athletes get better by measuring, so now you can get in on this too with the Kinects ability to read you every movement.

The combination of Nike+ and Kinect seems like a good combination for those interested in that sort of thing, but honestly seems like something people would only do if they already happen to have both as I don’t see anyone getting one or both for this.   We’ll seems does as it seems to be another jump on the bandwagon of fitness related gaming content.

Twisted Pixel show off Loco Cycle

Twisted Pixel have been a bit quiet as of late, but it appears we now know why. Their latest title was revealed at E3, and goes by the name Loco Cycle. From the brief clip that was shown, we only really know that the game definitely resembles tron, and involves a motorcycle with a futuristic atheistic.

Yeah, it’s not a lot to go with, but if Gunstringer or ‘Splosion Man are any indication, we are sure to be looking at a hit in the making. Check out the new trailer for Loco Cycle below, and let us know what you want out of this game in the comments below.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Release Date Announced

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 E3 2012 Press Conference went out with a bang thanks to Call of Duty: Black Ops II with not only new gameplay footage, but a release date as well: 11/13/12.

The footage showed off a bunch of new gameplay and story elements. Taking place in the year 2025 where the enemies have stolen the keys to America’s military robots and drones. You as a military solider must defend the president (who is a woman by the way) from your countries’ own military weapons and terrorists invading the city. One major feature that has been introduced is the ability to guide a military drone to fly around and shoot your opponents in real-time. By pressing a control pad on the character’s wrist, players can even select where to send the drone to attack.

It was also announced that Xbox 360 would be the first console to receive Black Ops 2 downloadable content, much like previous Call of Duty titles.

With impressive graphics and one of the most thrilling atmospheres in the franchise to date, Call of Duty: Black Ops II is set to hit stores on 11/13/12. Until then, check out the gameplay footage for yourself below!

Matter Revealed at E3 for the Xbox 360

Matter was a bizarre title to see at E3, as even after watching the trailer, I’m unsure of exactly what Matter is. Donning a sleek sci-fi setting, Matter’s trailer started up with what looked to be an AI core straight out of Portal, with it running down a path before the world literally shatters.

It’s a cryptic first look, but very intriguing to say the least. Matter was also crafted by Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski, which is sure to mean that it will be a cinematic journey with a nice and unique tale to be told. Oh yeah, Matter also has Kinect controls as well, which makes it’s existence and concept even more mysterious.

Gears of War Judgment featured at E3 2012

While news of a new installment of the Gears of War franchise was already made several days before screening at Microsoft’s 2012 E3 press conference, a few specifics of the game which had previously remained up for speculation have been cleared up in a newly released trailer. Rather than showing off the history of Marcus Fenix’s imprisonment like so many gamers initially assumed from the leaked silhouette, the short trailer revealed that the potential protagonist of the game will be Damon Baird of all people. That’s right folks, the foul-mouthed sarcastic mechanic of Delta Squad looks like he’ll be taking centre stage in the next Gears of War title. Seeing Baird in chains and standing before what we can only assume is a military tribunal, perhaps our less-loved squad mate of 3 previous games has a little more in common with Marcus than he’d like to admit.

While less than a minute long, it appears that the game will be the “business-as-usual” MO for the troops of the C.O.G. Locust attacking, humanity on the verge of collapse, political BS getting in the way of a good old fashioned ass kicking. Yep, it’s a gears game. And with a set release frame of 2013, it will give Gears fans a new installment to look forward to next year!

Resident Evil 6 E3 Gameplay Impressions

The next Resident Evil  got to show off some of it’s gameplay during E3 2012’s Xbox Press Conference.  The gameplay for Resident Evil 6 featured Leon and Claire moving through a completely devastated city overrun with the zombies that the series is known for.  This time however Leon apparently has learned how to shoot things while running!  Finally.

Overall, the gameplay that was shown featured heavily on the cinematic, as Leon went from situation to situation.  It seems that the transition from Horror to Action, it almost completely finished, with the only horror elements being the zombies themselves.  The action they showed ranged from jets falling out of buildings and setting off chains of explosions, to getting in a helicopter where a person nearly infected turned, causing the helicopter to crash, surprise surprise.  It really seems like the series is trying to do new things, but they seem to be things that other series have already down.

The game may be feature heavily on the story than just getting through the zombies themselves, so we’ll see where they take this cinematic adventure.

Halo 4 E3 Gameplay Impressions

From the Xbox Press Conference, Halo 4 kicked off the the show with a live action trailer showing off and centering around the UNSC Infinity that seems to be prompting as a major set piece for the game.  When they finally get done to the ground with Master Chief, it’s back to the basics of the Halo series, trekking through a jungle and fighting off enemies.

This is the finally official introduction of the new enemies that Master Chief will be encountering in this new installment.  These new enemies are AI/robotic based implying that while there may not be as many Forerunners as people have been hoping for, but they are certainly more varied than the sentinels of games past.  But, they seem to be very close to how the Flood worked in Halo 3, except machine based.

New Forerunner weapons were debuted too.  Which are really almost laser based versions of human weapons, such as the Scattershot which would seem to be a Laser Shotgun.  Overall, they are new and seem to bring a new kind of combat, though still very Flood-like in my opinion.  The Halo 4 trailer ended with Master Chief chatting it up with a big ball, that may be the introduction of an actual Forerunner for him to fight.

Wreckateer Crashes into E3 – And it looks Familiar

With all of the sequels at Microsoft’s E3 event, it was nice to see Wreckateer’s introduction. For those who missed it, this new title utilizes the Kinect controls, and looks A LOT like Angry Birds. The concept is simply to aim your weapon and control the projectile’s movement with your body as it plummets into specific structures.

This title will be out this summer, and will be featured for the Xbox Live Arcade. You can check out the trailer below for Wreckateer to see the charming art style and of course the…well..copied idea in action, and stay tuned as there is sure to be even more details coming within the coming month.

Microsoft Smart Glass Detailed At E3 Conference

The latest innovation from Microsoft coming out of the E3 Conference is the Microsoft Smart Glass system. Essentially what this system does is it integrates each Microsoft device with each other utilising the new Microsoft Smart Glass app.

So say that you have an Xbox360, a Microsoft Tablet and a Windows 8 PC all in your living room. You will be able to start a session on one of these devices and then with another app running this device, you will be able to take that session and then continue using it from another device. I think that this kind of technology would be useful for if you were watching a movie and you suddenly had to bolt to the bathroom because you are suffering from ‘the runs’.

This is a technology that I am definitely looking forward to seeing more of and am curious as to where Microsoft are taking this. Thanks to Engadget for the pic.
