Star Wars The Old Republic E3 EA Conference Details

During EA’s massive E3 conference earlier today, developer Bioware showed off some new content coming to Star Wars The Old Republic later this year. For those of you who don’t know, Star Wars the Old Republic is EA’s massive Star Wars MMORPG set in the Old Republic Era of the meta-universe. Most of this content has been previously announced as part of the 1.3 update, but here is a general rundown of what to expect.

There will be a plethora of new content coming to Star Wars The Old Republic later this year and much of it will be cool. There will be new warzones, more higher level content like raids and daily quests, new companions to aid you in your quest, new species to choose from (and hopefully new legacy abilities to go with them), ranked PvP, character transfers as well as a new explorable planet with it’s own questlines and other content. The session also showed off some space-combat, which might have been a hidden announcement for more space missions.

Be sure to stay tuned for more info as it comes.

Sim City Social Announced by EA; Coming to Facebook

EA named quite a few titles during their E3 press event, but Sim City Social is one that is sure to attract the attention of all the Facebook crowd. This title will take the main elements of the hit franchise, and socialize them completely by letting users build their own town with a little help from their friends.

I think we all know the drill on how this game will work, as almost everyone has experienced or at least seen Cityville and similar titles, but Maxis have been the matriarch of the genre since it’s early days, so Sim City Social is sure to blow Zynga’s efforts out of the water. As you can see by the slogan above, war has began in the Facebook market yet again, and the battle for the dollar is now on!

EA Announces Partnership with UFC

Amongst many sports-related announcements during EA Games’ E3 Press Conference but one in particular that stood out was EA announcing they have made a partnership with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)  is a mixed martial arts fighting league that is not just the fastest growing sport in America, but now the fastest growing sport in the world. UFC is now stranger to video games though, as it did used to have a partnership with THQ prior to EA Sports.

EA Sports’ upcoming UFC title is currently in development. Make sure to check out the trailer featured below!

Battlefield 3 E3 EA Conference Details

During EAs E3 conference, it was announced that a few new things will be making their way to the Battlefield 3 playerbase soon. These things may come as a bit of a shock to gamers and may also seem a little off putting to some, considering it requires gamers to cough up money to access these services.

The first service I want to talk about is EA’s Battlefield 3 Premium service. This service, to be honest, feels a lot like the Call of Duty premium service that Activision was pushing over it’s CoD playerbases earlier. In EA’s version of the service, players will be able to purchase content for their Battlefield 3 accounts, as well as access expansion packs a full two weeks before anyone else. Is this worth a fee? It’s up to you, the players to decide.

The second thing I want to talk about are the expansion packs, of which there are 5, one of which has already been released. They have already began development (and likely nearly completed it too) on these expansion packs, which are going to be tiered to release around each other. Now I’m not saying that this is a milking of the franchise or a cashgrab by EA on one of their largest multiplayer games ever. But I will say that gamers should be wary of these practices and that if they support them, then they will be continuing.

The Expansion packs are named thus –

  • Close Quarters
  • Aftermath
  • End Game
  • Armoured Kill
  • Back to Karkand

Also coming to the franchise in the future are new game modes and customisations. These are likely to be available on the new Battlefield 3 Premium service.

EA Sports FIFA 13 Reveal

The face of Soccer games was completely changed at this years Microsoft Xbox 360 E3 Press Conference with EA Sports’ FIFA 13.

The most outstanding new feature of gameplay seen in FIFA 13 is by far the interaction between the player and the game thanks to Xbox Kinect. By simply using voice control, gamers can verbally instruct their players to substitute in real-time on and off the field.

Furthermore, swearing at the Reff has never been more fun thanks to the commentators now able to react to your reaction. Swear at the reff and your definitely going to hear about it!

EA Sports’ FIFA 13 is set to release this fall. For more check out the video below.

Deadspace 3 E3 EA Conference Info

At the EA conference for E3 2012, EA and Visceral showed off a section of the upcoming Deadspace 3 game. Deadspace 3 is the third game in the survival horror, Dead Space, series of games but it seems to be taking a turn away from it’s roots and heading down a different path.

At the conference we were shown a section of the second act of the game which gave the game more of an action feel, rather than a survival horror like it’s predecessors. However, the main character was shown to be swalled by a giant alien thing, so maybe the horror begins within it’s bowels? Only time will tell.

EA also gave out a bit of info on the games features, the most notable additions being Drop-in and Drop-out Co-Op as well as Single Player abilities. The game is also slated for a February 2013 launch.

EA Sports Madden NFL 13 Release Date Revealed

The Microsoft E3 Press Conference was filled with celebrities this year, but football fans were most undoubtably excited most for the guest appearence by Joe Montana introducing Madden NFL 13.

As Montanna revealed, Xbox Kinect allows players to use their voice to control the action around them. Utilizing your own voice, you can instruct individual players to perform certain actions as well as set up particular plays. NFL video games have never been so interactive, making the player feel like they really are in the middle of all the action!

Lost Planet 3’s E3 Trailer is a Dish best Served Cold

With E3 in full swing, many sequels are getting some nice trailers from the event, and the latest is from Capcom with a new clip for Lost Planet 3. This trailer follows Jim on his journey through the bitter cold as he tries to simply get home from his mission.

A good number of enemies are shown off, and the gameplay is looking pretty sharp and exciting for the most part, which is something that Lost Planet has always needed. Say what you want about the purpose of a third title for Lost Planet, but this title actually looks quite good and just might be the breakthrough into AAA stardom that Capcom have always wanted. Watch the new trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Nickelodeon, Paramount, and More Headed to Xbox Live

Forget about using cable anymore, as Microsoft want you to come to them for all your entertainment needs. At the big E3 conference for the brand, it was announced that Nickelodeon, Paramount, and Machinima will all be bringing their content to the service. Of course this is a good thing as it means more movies, original gaming videos, and of course Spongebob for all 360 owners.

Sports fans are also in luck, as the service will also see the NBA Gametime League pass and NHL Game Centers with the newly announced WatchESPN integration. I’m sure we will have dates for the launch of all these programs soon enough, but until then you can prepare your game and movie nights in advance with these new programs.
