Metal Gear Solid 4 Trophy patch now available worldwide

Although the title came out many moons ago, Trophies have finally made their way onto the PlayStation 3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Today anyone with the game will be prompted to download the patch when they begin the game which will add in 34 Trophies.

These Trophies involve story related things of course as well as a number of Easter Egg Trophies for performing various takedowns or special things within the title. This offers players a chance to go back and do things a bit differently as well as pad their Trophy count a bit with a game they may already own.

0

Bigpoint’s Battlestar Galactica Online has been finding some solid success with the Allegorithmic’s Substance.  What is this Substance and what has it been doing for them?  Well, Substance allows high quality detailed art to be easily sized for players on a wide variety of computers.

That means Bigpoint can spend more time on producing higher quality art without having to worry about having to scale it themselves, as it will be handled by Substance.  For a visual example, utilizing Substance Bigpoint has made a series of golden skins for some of the ships in honor of the in-game Festive of Kobol, which players can see to the right.

Battlestar Galactica Online is a free to play MMO, that uses the Unity engine and has so far accrued more than 10 million players.  Players can check out high quality pictures of two of the golden ships below and check out the game at its website HERE.

Darksiders II: Know Death – Last Pre-Release Trailer

Darksiders II is preparing to be released soon, so it’s having one final trailer to set the stage for it.  The video “Know Death”, doesn’t give any new information to those already versed in what Death exists to do.  Players can check out the new trailer embedded below to see the action as well as the first few scores the game is garnering.

Darksiders II is the sequel to the first Darksiders, but where the first put players in the role of War of the Four Horsemen, II sees players now in the role of War’s brother Death, as it fills in some gaps left by War’s ignorance to his brother whereabouts.  To fully understand the difference between the two playable brothers, consider this: War exists simply to fight battle, while Death exists simply to end life.  Players interested still have a a little time left to pre-order Darksiders II before it comes out.

WWE Games Giving Away Ice Cream Bars

Unfortunately, these are not actually the WWE Ice Cream Bars made by Good Humor in the 80’s and 90’s, but THQ is giving away CM Punk Ice Cream bar t-shirts as a pre-order bonus for WWE ’13 through select retailers. Those in the United States will need to pre-order at GameStop and Canadians will have to pre-order at EB Games to score this sweet t-shirt. Make sure to pre-order WWE ’13 before October 30th to get the pre-order bonus.

Confirmed: The Existence of Microsoft’s “New Xbox”

0

It seems as if every week we hear “news” (or more accurately rumours) of the next-generation of consoles, and every single time they’re brushed off as just that – rumours based off wild speculation or alleged leaked documents.

However the ‘unthinkable‘ has happened.

Microsoft General Manager Brian Hall has mentioned the fabled words “new Xbox”. Speaking to The Verge on their podcast The Vergecast about Outlook and Windows 8, he let slip the words.

“We’ve had Hotmail and operated Hotmail for about 16 years, we obviously have Exchange, and Outlook, that people use at work,” he said. “We just decided it was time to do something new and bring the best from each of those and put them together and release it right in time for the new wave of products that we could have coming out with Windows 8, with the new version of Office with the new Windows phone and the new Xbox.” – Brian Hall

Oh how the rumour mill will be running in overdrive now. No further details or mentions of the new Xbox were discussed. This is the first time a Microsoft employee has openly acknowledged the existence of the new console.

No official statements have been released by Microsoft regarding the new Xbox…yet.

F1 2012 features all new Champions Mode

Amidst all the hullabaloo after Codemasters Racing announced its spin-off Formula One game, F1 Race Stars, you would be forgiven for forgetting there will be no slowdown in the production of its main F1 series, as we’ll be treated to F1 2012 the same year in September.

F1 2012’s Champions Mode will challenge players to take on each of the six champions in turn, starting with Kimi Räikkönen, followed by Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and then Michael Schumacher. Each champion has his own race scenario where the player must beat that driver in order to unlock the next challenge.

The Kimi Räikkönen challenge sees the player join a race as Kimi’s teammate at Spa Francorchamps. The player has just pitted and is on new tyres while the rest of the pack is on worn rubber with three laps to go until the end of the race. In order to complete the scenario the player has to race through the pack and overtake Kimi before the end of the race.

DayZ Confirmed as Standalone Game

We all knew it was going to happen, but it’s finally been officially confirmed: DayZ, the stupidly-popular zombie mod for military sim ARMA 2, will be developed as a full, standalone game.

The game will be published by Bohemia Interactive, the studio behind ARMA 2, with the mod’s creator, Dean Hall, as the project lead.

In a blog post, Hall specified that the game “will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price.” The mod will still be available for existing players, updated regularly, as progress is made on the full game project.

There aren’t many details as of yet, other than confirmation of the project’s existence. Considering that the DayZ mod led to ARMA 2, a game released in 2009, topping the sales charts during the recent Steam Summer sale, it’s not surprising news. Damn good news, but hardly surprising.

Keep an eye on dayzgame.com. There’s nothing there yet, but the site is reserved for the project, and will likely be updated with details in the next few weeks.

Trailer Released for New Spanish Comedy Film: Chinese Takeaway

In film festivals there are usually films that stand above the rest, ones that achieve popularity and so are flogged to the general public with a stamp of approval. Chinese Takeaway is such a film from this year’s Rome International Film Festival.

Chinese Takeaway is a film about Roberto, a loner who loves being one of those eternally cranky people and dislikes others. His life changes when he meets Jun, a Chinese man who has just arrived in Argentina and cannot speak a word of Spanish. This odd coupling explores the language barrier, and leads to many hilarious and absurd situations, as well as helping draw Roberto out of his loneliness.

If you’re a fan of comedy films and are looking for something a bit different from the usual Hollywood stuff that spits out the same storyline again and again then this is definitely a film that you should see.

Check out the trailer for Chinese Takeaway below and let us know what you think! Chinese Takeaway will be released on the 30th of August 2012.
