JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD will not be re-balanced

Fans of the classic arcade fighting game JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, which is of course based upon the legendary manga of the same name, should know that the game wasn’t perfect. In fact, it was quite well known that the game suffered from some strength balancing issues. In particular with the character Pet Shop, the single most powerful character in the entire game.

The game’s director Ryota Niitsuma has confirmed on his official twitter that the HD version of the game which is set to be released tomorrow on XBLA and PSN will not re-balance the game and will leave it’s mechanics untouched. He revealed this funnily enough after being questioned about whether or not Pet Shop would be weakened in strength in the new version.

What do you think about no re-balancing in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure HD? Will you be spamming online with Pet Shop? Let us know in the comments section. You can also check out the mighty over-powered nature of Pet Shop in the video below.

Hotel Transylvania Due Out September 28th

When you hear about a movie getting the video game treatment, a sigh is usually the first response that is made. When WayForward happen to be doing the project, glee replaces the doubt and a solid experience is almost always a guarantee. Yes folks, the all mighty WayForward are preparing to launch their adaptation of Hotel Transylvania for the 3DS and DS soon with the help of GameMill, and this little romp is looking quite temping thus far.

Here is a brief synopsis on what players can expect:

Welcome to Hotel Transylvania, Dracula’s lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free to be the monsters they are — without humans to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula has invited some of his best friends — Frankenstein and his wife, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, the Werewolf family, and more — to celebrate his beloved daughter Mavis’s 118th birthday. For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem — but everything could change for the overprotective dad when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.

Featuring a wide variety of locations, puzzles, and boss battles galore, the game creates an imaginative and fun way to interact with the movie characters.

Yeah, there is always doubt and cynicism when it comes to any licensed title, but my hype has began for Hotel Transylvania, as it looks to already have all the tools to become yet another gem from the makers of Shantae, Aliens: Infestation, and A Boy & His Blob. Hotel Transylvania is due out September 28th.

Survival Penguin Currently Free

I had to double check that this wasn’t a parody of a Japanese game, but no: Survival Penguin: Battle Royal is the real deal, the stuff that satirists hate, because it does their work for them.

Survival Penguin: Battle Royal casts players as penguins and other icy characters, aiming to knock each other off a glacier, into the freezing waters below. As the screenshots indicate, It’s unashamedly Japanese, and it’s probably fun to boot.

Even if it’s not, it’s currently free on the App store, until August 31st, so there’s not really a reason to not indulge in its unintended hilarity.

Team Fortress 2 Adds New Co-op Mode Mann vs. Machine

0

After so many years of warring between each other it looks like the Blue and Red factions have finally decided to put aside their differences and battle against a common enemy:  the Machines.  Valve’s renowned “most fun you can have online” game Team Fortress 2 Mann vs. Machine is now available as a TF2 update on Steam and ready to transform the fields of battle into junkyards. M vs. M is a 6 player Co-op game mode that throws you and 5 other friends (or random TF2 M vs. M players) against enormous waves of robot doppelgangers of our favorite mercenaries trying to plant a massive bomb on Mann Co.

The new mode includes 3 new maps (Mannworks, Coal Town and Decoy) that take advantage of the new features and allows the player to improve their abilities and weapons in-between wave breaks. It will also give players the opportunity to “earn incredible loot and unlock new achievements” in a variety of missions if the players manage to survive the coming onslaught of boss waves with even more challenging giant robots. Mostly everything is free-to-play as Valve introduced the Mann Up mode. This special mode is played on an official Mann Co. server which requires a “Tour of Duty” ticket costing $0.99 (£0.99 in the UK). All items earned in Mann Up Mode do not affect gameplay as they are for cosmetic purposes only and can be used “throughout all of TF2, and are tradable”.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World’s online DLC delayed

If you were looking forward to downloading the new Scott Pilgrim vs. the World online multiplayer DLC yesterday then you may have been a bit shocked to find that this DLC was inexplicably absent from the marketplace. Well today Ubisoft has made a statement to Joystiq stating that “The DLC for Scott Pilgrim will be releasing this fall,” an Ubisoft rep told us. “The PSN version will release during that same timeframe. We’ll have more information as we get closer to launch.”

Sort of strange that the company, after two years, decided to set a release date for some DLC of this game, then for no apparent reason delay it for at least a couple of extra months. Sure it probably is among Ubisoft’s lowest priorities but they should still attempt to stay on top of things.
