Wii U Australian Release Date and Price

We have already gotten the European, American and Japanese release details for the Wii U console and now we have finally got the details of the Australian release.

The Wii U will be launching down under on the 30th of November, 2012 and will be released in the same two bundles as the rest of the world. The basic 8GB bundle will retail for $349.95 AUD and the premium 32GB bundle will retail for $429.95 AUD.

Nintendo Land Attractions Revealed

During their North American Nintendo Direct conference, Nintendo announced the complete list of ‘attractions’ for their Wii U bundled title Nintendo Land will feature. These ‘attractions’ are really mini-games based upon a variety of Nintendo’s most memorable IPs. The ‘attractions’ are as follows:

Team attractions:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest
  • Pikmin Adventure 
  • Metroid Blast

Versus attractions:

  • Mario Chase 
  • Luigi’s Ghost Mansion 
  • Animal Crossing Sweet Day

Mini attractions:

  • Yoshi’s Fruit Cart 
  • Octopus Dance 
  • Donkey Kong’s Crash Course 
  • Takamarus Ninja Castle 
  • Captain Falcon’s Twister Race 
  • Balloon Trip Breeze

Monster Hunter Tri-G HD Bundled With Wii-U In Japan

Monster Hunter fans will be self-pleasing at this announcement. Monster Hunter Tri-G will be getting a HD rebuild for the Wii-U console and will be released as a launch bundle in Japan. At the moment it is unclear whether or not this version of the game will be making it this way, however, when you consider it’s a Capcom game and the series’ popularity is increasing over here – it is apparent that it will probably will be.

The title has also been announced to have online play out of the box. Did we mention that it was bundled with a Wii-U? Talk about getting people addicted out of the box, ha ha ha.

Monolith Software Making A New Wii-U Title

Monolith Software, the guys that created the fairly cool Xenoblade RPG on Wii have been announced to be creating a new game to appear on the Wii U console. Not much info has been shared with us, so it is hard to speculate about what it could be.

However, us here at Capsule Computers are reasonably certain that it will be a sequel to the Xenoblade game that appeared on the Wii console. However, we concede that we could be wrong about this eventuating. What does everyone at home think about this?

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Heading to Wii U and 3DS

Nintendo revealed during their Japanese Nintendo Direct Conference that a new Monster Hunter game under the title of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate would be heading to both the Wii U and 3DS consoles next year in March 2013.

That’s not all though, both versions of the game will be cross-platform compatible, allowing Wii U gamers to play against 3DS gamers in an unprecedented cross-platform feature that is sure to excite Monster Hunter fans.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be getting a North American and European release around the same time frame as the Japanese release of March 2013.

Nintendo Confirm Wii U European Launch Titles

Nintendo of Europe have confirmed a list of Wii U titles available on the European launch date of November 30 as well as game that will be available during the launch window. The image (courtesy of VG247) above lists nine games that will be available on November 30. These include New Super Mario Bros U, Nintendoland, Rayman Legends, Mass Effect 3 and FIFA 13. What is odd with this list is that it doesn’t list Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which was announced for the Wii U in November.

The launch window will run from day one of the Wii U’s availability to the end of March 2013. In total, there are at least 50 games that will be released in this launch period. There is an excellent choice of games that will be available in the launch window. Are there any that take your fancy? Give us your thoughts below.

Dragon Quest X Beta Access With Wii U Premium

Japan is getting a huge exclusive incentive for purchasing the Wii U Premium bundle. Access to the Dragon Quest X beta will be given to Japanese gamers who purchase the Wii U Premium bundle from it’s release date on December 8th.

The beta is set to begin shortly after the Wii U release date itself. Players will have the ability to import their save files from the beta into their full retail version of Dragon Quest X once it is released, the date of which, at this early juncture, is understandably a mystery.

Wii U Display Vs. Tablet Display

Coming out of the Wii U conference I couldn’t help but want to reflect on something peculiar that was happening on screen. You see, during this conference, we were shown the display output of both the Wii U and it’s tablet whilst games were being played by demonstrators on the stage. Now normally, one would expect for the tablet and the actual console outputs to be the same. This was not the case with what I could see.

The most notable things that I noticed with the differences in the two displays was that the tablet was actually outputting much more smoothly than the Wii U output, and that the bloom effects on the tablet were much more blurrier. The only cause for this, technically speaking, is that the tablet must be outputting at a lower resolution in comparison to the Wii U itself. By my estimates, I’d say that the Wii U is outputting at a display resolution of 1920×1080 or 1080p; whereas the tablet control would logically be displaying at the next highest level, which would be at 1280×720, or 720p.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 heading to the Wii U

We all know Nintendo’s long and healthy history with Activision’s Call of Duty franchise right? Oh you don’t? Well never mind that good news for Call of Duty fans is that the latest instalment in the never dying franchise Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be heading to the Wii U console.

The game was shown off during Nintendo’s North American Nintendo Direct conference in which it was revealed that the game can be entirely played from the Wii U Gamepad controller, in both single player and multiplayer gameplay.

Wii U European Launch Details Announced

We have just learned European release details for the Wii U at ‘European Nintendo Wii U Preview Event’. Coming to European stores on November 30th – 12 days after the U.S. and 8 days before Japan – the Wii U will come in two bundles, just as we’ve heard from the Japanese and U.S. preview events.

First, the ‘Basic’ bundle, which will come with the Wii U (of course), a Wii U Gamepad, an AC Adaptor, a High Speed HDMI and Sensor Bar. The console will come in white and will have 8GB internal flash memory. The ‘Premium’ bundle will come will all the aforementioned hardware and features, plus a Gamepad docking stand and charging cradle, a copy of Nintendoland, more memory – 32GB to be exact – and a one year subscription to the Nintendo Network, which will net you 10% off digital downloads. The Premium bundle Wii U will also be available in black instead of white.

No set price has been announced just yet as it will be up to European retailers to reveal their prices. For our European readers, let us know what you think in the comments below!
