New Screenshots for Of Orcs and Men

The alternate side of the traditional fantasy tale is being explored in Of Orcs and Men, a new RPG hitting stores and consoles next month. The game is a product of a partnership between Spiders (Faery: Legends of Avalon and the Testament of Sherlock Holmes) and Cyanide (both Game of Thrones titles). It follows the tale of an Orc and a Goblin as they make their way through the human Empire to assassinate the man who has been causing them so much trouble – the Emperor.

The newly released screenshots show off the graphics engine that was wholly developed by Spiders, and boast a strong, rich fantasy style. That hefty looking fellow above is one of the main protagonists, a warrior Orc named Arkaïl who will be accompanied on his journey by Styx, the thieving Goblin. Make sure and click on the thumbnails below for a larger version of the shots.

Of Orcs and Men is to see a retail release across the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on October 11, and will become available for worldwide PC download on October 18.

Occult Academy gets a standard edition release

As many of you may know, NIS America always releases their anime titles in special Premium Edition packages when they first are released. Well, only a few of you may know that sometime down the line, certain anime are given a standard edition release as well.

Interestingly enough, NIS America has only done this with a couple of past releases so it may come as a small surprise to learn that they have now announced that Occult Academy will be getting a standard release. The reason this is a bit surprising is the fact that Occult Academy was released around six months ago while a few earlier releases have not been given the same treatment.

It is worth noting that this standard version of Occult Academy will only contain the Blu-ray version of the anime and it will cost $54.99 when it hits various online retailers on October 9th. As for the show itself, Occult Academy follows the story of a bunch of high school students that tackle various mysteries and supernatural phenomenon.

0

Reverb Publishing has just announced a partnership with Handyman Studios for a 2D sandbox title named “Edge of Space”. Edge of Space will test player’s abilities to build, mold, create all sorts of objects in order to make a planet manageable to survive. And even sometimes it is best to bring a mech warrior along for the ride!

Jake Crane, founder and CEO of Handyman Studios, offers the following:

Handyman Studios is thrilled to be working on our dream project of melding the vast reaches of outer space with terraforming, survival, and sandbox exploration. Teaming up with Reverb on realizing our fantasies of cybernetically-enhanced laser sharks in space is definitely awesome.

Cybernetically-enhanced laser sharks? The guys at Handyman Studios really thought out of the box for that one. Or simply watched Austin Powers and borrowed Dr. Evil’s idea. Still, the game seems to show a lot of innovative ideas to create and terraform a new world. Check out the game for yourself at Steam’s (Greenlight Section) and give Edge of Space your stamp of approval.
