0

Today it was announced that the Animate Café Tennoji event which was going to be held in Osaka has been cancelled. Animate has apologized to their customers for the inconvenience and also for the late notice since the event was originally meant to kick off only three days from now on November 23rd.

Animate went on to say that the cancellation of the event was thanks to the recent threats against the Kuroko’s Basketball franchise and considering the intensity of these threats the company has chosen to shut down the event to keep their customers safe.

If you haven’t been paying attention to the unfolding Kuroko’s Basketball threat situation, it began last month where over twenty locations, including the author, have been sent threat letters that contained a liquid and powdery substance which may have been hydrogen sulfide which can be deadly if inhaled in a large quantity.

Little Amazon Teaser Video: Lily’s Powers

Just ahead of its imminent release, BulkyPix have released a teaser video for Little Amazon, showing off Lily’s powers.

We formerly shared first screenshots and details about the iOS game, which can be viewed here, but this new teaser video actually shows Lily’s powers in action, and it seems that there is a fourth one that was not previously mentioned. The video gives a quick gameplay glimpse at 4 powers:

  1. The Scouts – Lily summons three helpers, who are on clouds, that aid in collecting coins.
  2. Flying Nimbus (Sometimes referenced as “The Flying Cloud”) – Allows Lily to float on, and control, a cloud of her own for a short amount of time.
  3. Kage Bunshin no Lily (Sometimes referenced as “Attack of the Clones” or “Lily Morphing”) – Summons many clones of Lily that mimic her movements and aid immensely in coin collection.
  4. Meteor Rain – A shower of meteors hits the land, collecting any coins they touch while simultaneously defeating any and all enemies on screen.

To view them all in motion, watch the video below!

Just Dance 4 gets some Gangnam Style

After announcing that some Psy based DLC was in the works a few weeks ago, Ubisoft have unleashed Gangnam Style on the world of Just Dance 4. The DLC is available from today on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and will see a release on the Wii U “at a later date”.

The insanely popular Korean pop hit will  come complete with those iconic dance moves that have inspired copious amounts of embarrassing moments for public figures around the world. Although the publicity around the song is beginning to fade a little, you can’t doubt the impact of something that has been viewed 774 million times – a scary number indeed.

Ubisoft have released a trailer for the DLC with the appropriate level of barmy included, and if you’re tempted by some added Gangnam Style it will set you back 300 Microsoft Points, 300 Wii Points, or £2.39 on the PlayStation Network.

Jetpack Joyride Arrives on Sony Systems

The mega hit app Jetpack Joyride has just seen a release across all of Sony’s gaming hardware. Now available on the PS Vita, PlayStation 3 and even the PSP, the game has been classified as a mini and will set you back $3.99.

Why you would want to fork out even this small amount for a game that is currently free on both iOS and Android is anyone’s guess, but if you are absolutely determined to have a bit of jetpack based hi-jinks on a Sony machine then at least the possibility now exists!

The game will include all the features of the other versions, with a few minor changes to the way the gadget system works and some free power ups thrown in. Make sure and check out the launch trailer below if you’ve somehow managed to avoid all things Jetpack until now.

Women dominate social gaming in Australia

1

Some interesting facts and figures have been recently revealed following the largest publisher led survey of social gaming audiences in the Asia Pacific conducted by Australias own Spiral media. The scope of the survey covered Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines and looked into key indicators such as audience participation, use of technology, retail spending habits, attitudes towards advertising and much more. Australia accounted for the majority of the respondents with women far outranking men, being 67% of total respondents.

“The survey shows that although online audiences are becoming more fragmented than ever, social gaming is growing and has become a form of mainstream entertainment. It also breaks the traditional opinion that social gaming is a duck in, duck out game play. The results of this study tell us that social gamers are interested in the more ‘traditional’ forms of gaming and are engaged for longer periods of time – presenting marketers with opportunities to develop targeted campaigns,” said Scott Wenkart, managing director of Spiral Media.

The rise of social gaming and its importance to marketers and developers can be seen in its popularity with 90% of Australian social gamers ranking it as the No.q activity on social sites, above posting status updates, photos and peeking your nose into what others are doing. A whopping 69% said they played social games everyday, making it a very highly used form of social media. Mobile social gaming was not so popular with only 49% or respondents playing weekly on their phones and other devices. The majority of those surveyed still used a desktop PC and 64% of social gamers also playing consoles and PC’s.
