New Arabic Anime Production Announced

torkaizer

This is a strange piece of news that has come out of the Anime fandom recently. A new super robot series is being released with a lot of throwbacks to the works of Go Negai and most specifically, Grendizer. The only reason I made this connection was because of the title of this strange concept: Torkaizer.

Torkaizer is an Anime-like production from an Arabic group called Alter Ego Productions. This is interesting because not only is this an incredibly Anime-like series, it is much more Anime than the series inspired by Anime over in the western world.

Personally I think it’s great that the Anime style of storytelling is being spread outside of Japan as we as an audience will be seeing a larger variety in stories. Not only that, we might start to see some animated works that are actually worth the time to watch.

See the embedded trailer below for a glimpse at this strange new series, even if the concept is pretty straight-forward. Check out the official site for more info.

Grimlands: MMORPG Kickstarted into Action

grimlands-screenshot-0.01

At the cost of the publisher gamigo AG announcing Grimlands cancellation, developer DRAGO Entertainment  has launched a campaign on Kickstarter to ensure enough funds are raised to finish developing the MMORPG.

Lucjan Mikociak, Head of Development at DRAGO Entertainment stated “we were all shocked by gamigo’s announcement, given we had spent more than five years on this game and are finally so close to the release”. Despite not having the financial support from gamigo, DRAGO Entertainment’s goal of finishing Grimlands this year has continued through their strong player support base around the globe and the market for the games title.

The features of the post-apocalyptic game are inclusive of an innovative mix of MMORPG and First-or-Third Person Shooter; unique crafting of weaponry that players assemble with scavenged raw materials; upgradeable vehicles; distinctive skill system built on players’ specific weapons or functions; PVE quests within the storyline and PVP mode with territorial fights, that gives real bonuses for holding key locations.

Check out the trailer for Grimlands below and please remember to show your support for the Kickstarter project by sharing this news with friends!

Worlds of Magic has gathered more than 30% of the pledges it needs on kickstarter in less than a week. The new strategy game is on its way to become the spiritual successor to Master of Magic.

Worlds of Magics first stretch goal will consist of a 7th faction , with its own units, buildings and features, which will be featured with the £35,000. The community will help to design that new faction, taking part in the whole process. The second stretch goal will be the addition of 20 more roaming creatures , once passed £40,000 milestone.

Gothic-Noir RPG Van Helsing Hitting PC and XBLA

adventures-of-vanhelsing-01

Indie game developer Neocore Games is set to release The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing later this year and have shown off new gameplay and screenshots today.

Inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula with gothic-noir and steampunk elements, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing follows the monster hunter in his battle against twisted creatures. A much-vaunted feature is the game’s Power-Up System and Rage points, giving players the ability to assign and utilise skills on the spot and allowing a variety of ways to deal with enemies.

Coupled with a skill-tree, inventory system and a top-down view, this indie title seems to pull punches against the genre-leading heavyweights. Check out the screenshots and trailer below and see what you think for yourself.

Slated for the PC and Xbox Live Arcade the game’s exact release date hasn’t been announced but is hinted at “later this year”.

Follow the game’s progress on the developer’s blog, official Facebook and Twitter pages.

Ep 2 of The Last of Us’ Development Series: Wasteland Beautiful

last-of-us-banner-01

The second episode in a series of developmental diaries for The Last of Us, courtesy of PlayStation and Naughty Dog, called “Wasteland Beautiful” is available to watch below this article. These videos offer a glimpse at an extended behind-the-scenes look to be made available on the game disc come its release on June 14th.

We previously shared the first episode in the development series – Hush – which gave insight into the design and creation of the infected. “Wasteland Beautiful”, on the other hand, is all about the environmental design in the game and how the lighting that is being implemented does wonders in creating such realistic-looking surroundings. It’s a fascinating look at one of the most important visual elements in video game development, and more specifically how the team at Naughty Dog are approaching it and what they are able to achieve on the PS3 – including a focus on soft shadows and reflective colouring.

If you’d love the chance to see the design, technology, and ideas from both Naughty Dog and PlayStation that shape The Last of Us with a documentarian’s approach, you should definitely check out these videos as they are released. Watch “Wasteland Beautiful” below, and stay tuned to Capsule Computers as we update you on all future entries in the series.
