At the end of last week Bethesda announced that they are working on The Evil Within with Shinji Mikami to create a game which will be the embodiment of “pure survival horror.” Today the company released the first screenshots for the game showing off some of the terrifying areas that players will be visiting and the monstrosities they’ll have to fight against.
As you can see, the game looks to play in the third person and the amount of detail in each image shows that there will be plenty of terror to go around. Currently The Evil Within is set to be released sometime in 2014 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and various next generation consoles.
Today Aksys Games announced that they will be continuing their trend of releasing otome games. Their latest localization is called Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi which is a 3DS port of the PSP game released in 2012, Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom.
This 3DS version of the game features six new side stories that show what happens between the major events in the main storyline of Hakuoki. It also apparently makes use of the 3DS’ camera by allowing users to take photos with the 3DS and add various character stickers, frames and other things to the image. At the time of announcement Aksys did not announce when fans can expect Hakuoki: Memories of the Shinsengumi to hit stores.
Today Deep Silver and Techland’s latest venture into the zombie filled world, Dead Island: Riptide, has hit store shelves for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. To commemorate the game’s release they have released a new trailer showing off not only some of the new zombies you’ll encounter on the island of Palanai but also a hint at what the game’s story may entail.
You can check out my review of the title herewhere I found it a satisfying and enjoyable experience with visceral combat and flawless online co-op that unfortunately still suffered from a number of issues and lacked the imagination and diversity of areas that made the original Dead Island memorable.
