Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy Hits iOS Early

Pffft...No objections here.
Pffft…No objections here.

There was a time not too long ago where the Ace Attorney Trilogy was slapped with a delay that set it all the way back to July, this is no longer the case because the Capcom team have a little surprise for you: The Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Trilogy is coming to all iOS devices in ONE WEEK! That’s not a normal week either, we’re talking a working week, that’s five days. If you’ve been waiting for this chestnut to be released May 30th is your day of rejoice.

Just for the added “piece of mind” here’s a side-by-side comparison of the original and HD graphics (I’m sure I don’t need to outline which is which):

Yeah, ok, because his beard didn't look glorious enough as it was.
Yeah, ok, because his beard didn’t look glorious enough as it was.

The HD Trilogy will include the original Ace Attorney, Justice For All and Trials and Tribulations. Once you’ve downloaded the free base app you can then choose to buy each title separately or all together. The prices are as follows:  The Original game will be $5.99 and both sequels will cost $6.99 which is actually an awesome price for these games. If you’re a true fan and want the whole Trilogy that’ll set you back $16.99 which is still a damn good price! The app will also include a quirky little extra called “Everybody Object” which allows you to email or tweet Wright’s catchphrases, with animation, to friends.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney HD Trilogy comes out on the 30th of May so keep your eyes open so you can get your hands on this ASAP.

Fire Emblem: Awakening was originally planned as final game in the series

fire-emblem-awakening-chrom-marth
In some surprising news, it has come to light that Fire Emblem: Awakening was originally planned to be the final installment of the long-running strategy RPG series.

During an interview with Hobby Consolas, Intelligent Systems’ Hitoshi Yamagami, the co-producer of Fire Emblem: Awakening confirmed that the game was made originally an end to the series:

“Truth be told, sales are dropping. The sales manager of Nintendo, Mr. Hatano, told us that this could be the last Fire Emblem. Due to this progressive descend on sales, they told us that if the sales of this episode stayed below 250,000 copies, we’d stop working on the saga. I remember when I came back from the meeting and told the team “My God, what are we gonna do?! The end has come!”. Our reaction was clear: if this was going to be the last Fire Emblem, we had to put everything we always wanted to include. That’s how this new project was born!”

Kouhei Maeda, the director of Fire Emblem: Awakening also confirmed this in an interview with Nintendo Dream:

“I have to admit there was a time during development when we thought “This might be the end of the Fire Emblem series if Awakening doesn’t sell well”.

This is very shocking to say the least, but Fire Emblem fans can rest easy as Fire Emblem: Awakening’s impressive 500,000+ copies sold both digitally and physically far exceeds the 250,000 needed to continue the series. Fire Emblem: Awakening is actually the best selling Fire Emblem game since Fire Emblem: Sword of Flame for the Game Boy Advance (simply known as Fire Emblem in the West) which released a decade ago.

This fantastic installment of Fire Emblem truly shows the effort put in by Intelligent Systems. We scored the game a 9.5 out of 10 in our review as a matter of fact. Sometimes desperation brings out the best in people. Intelligent Systems gave it their all like there was no tomorrow. But now with the success of Awakening, Fire Emblem will live to fight another day and thank the lords for that.

Hideo Baba debunks Tales of Symphonia HD rumor

tales-of-symphonia-banner
It was recently reported that Hideo Baba the producer of Namco’s Tale Of franchise had stated that there was plans for a HD collection of Tales of Symphonia coming for the PlayStation 3 under the title Tales of Symphonia: Perfect Edition.

Baba has now commented that he had been misquoted with his response taken out of context and sensationalized. Speaking with JPGames.de he commented on the situation,” To be quite frank… I was at Expomanga in Spain last week and everyone was enjoying the event, and then I heard from fans ‘I heard rumors about a Tales of Symphonia Perfect Edition. Is that true?’ Actually, I was the one surprised by that! (laughs) That fan then said that it’s the 10th anniversary of Tales of Symphonia in Japan this year, and I just said that there might be something coming, as a celebration.”

He continued on to clarify what those celebration plans would likely be, “It will be more like a ‘Tales of Café’ or an event at NamcoCon… but we actually have no plans yet, there are only ideas. We can’t really say anything before announcements are made and it’s always a bit surprising when people ask us about rumors like that. It would be best to just wait for new information [about Tales of Symphonia’s 10th anniversary]. Before we announce something, a rumor is just a rumor after all (laughs).”

There you have it, a rumor is just a rumor until confirmed. Unfortunately for fans of Tales of Symphonia, the fabled HD collection is not to be, for now that is. Stay tuned for more information on the 10th anniversary celebrations of Tales of Symphonia as details come to light.

Street Rugby Launched for iOS

Street-rugby-launched

Sean O’Brien the Leinster and Ireland back row forward today launched Street Rugby on iOS and Android soon follow at the Hampton hotel in Dublin. O’Brien who will tour with the 2013 British & Irish Lions later this summer is the central character in the new mobile game.

Imobile’s Street Rugby allows theplayer to control Sean O’Brien as he tackles and side-steps his way around the real streets of Dublin, ranging from The Spire on O’Connell Street to the famous Lansdowne Road, collecting caps and power-ups along the way.

Speaking at the launch, Sean said:

The life of a professional rugby player sees you spend a lot of time travelling to and from matches. A lot of my time is spent on buses, at airports, on flights and in hotels and you end up flicking through your phone playing games! When I heard the Imobile lads were looking to get me involved in  Street Rugby I was very keen to find out more. I’ve got long flights to Hong Kong and Australia coming up so I was looking for something to pass the time on those as well!

Imobile is an award winning mobile application developer who have a strong track record in working with sporting clients such as Leinster Rugby, Graeme McDowell, Retief Goosen and the Aviva Premiership. Street Rugby represents the company’s first time branching out into the fast growing mobile gaming market.

Padraig Shanley co-founder of Imobile said:

It’s a fantastic opportunity to work with a leading sports star and get the game the coverage it deserves. It’s fitting that in such a great time for rugby in Ireland we can launch the game which features a real map of Dublin that we went out and modelled ourselves. We’ve spent a lot of time researching and developing this game so it’s great to get it in front of people.

The app is available on the iTunes Appstore here from today, with an Android launch to follow.

Innovative New RPG Patchwork Battles Launches Kickstarter Campaign

patchwork-battles-kickstarter

Patchwork Battles published by Ayopa games, is a multi-platform, turn-based RPG with which brings whole new levels of customization and depth to players. Through a set of revolutionary systems, Patchwork Battles can be customized by each player to suit his or her own style of play.

In Patchwork Battles the player becomes young Jaden Toys on his quest to become a Grand Elite Animator and win the Patchwork Battles competition. He won’t be doing this himself though, as he needs his Mimics. Mimics are magical beings that you build and bring to life through the magical art of Animation.

patchwork-battles-wizard-priestes

Every Mimic is made up of various body parts: arms, legs, head, body, etc. These body parts are imbued with a spirit which gives the body part its role or class. The body parts are put together in any fashion the Animator sees fit, and then brought to life!

Some of the distinctive features of the game can be seen below:

  • Build your own Mimic. Use an array of body parts (heads, arms, legs, etc) to create your own unique characters from within a myriad of different classes.
  • Character Development: Every Mimic has its own unique skill tree based off the parts they have equipped. Change a body part, and your Mimic’s entire skill tree will change!
  • Reactionary Battle System: A  progression of the renowned Active Time Battle system. Instead of just acting and then waiting for your next turn, you can now react to the actions of your enemies and your allies. Dodging, blocking, and spell shielding all happen in reaction to an action by another character!
  • Gathering and Crafting: Harvest materials in-game with increasing quality and elemental power. The higher the resource quality, the better item it produces!
  • Community and Social: Patchwork Battles embraces social gameplay. Sell the uber items you create on a centralized Auction House and receive rare or even unique in-game rewards. You can also share your Mimic and Skill blueprints with friends, or sell them at auction!

patchwork-battles-shadow-trickster

Patchwork Battles needs help from the community to finish the final 60% of the games development off, and the Kickstarter page can be found here. Thus far only around $500 of the $28,000 needed has been collected, so if you would like to get behind this game, please don’t hesitate to donate!
