Skylanders Swap Force new characters and screenshots announced

The Skylanders have made an appearance at E3 2013, with some important announcements regarding Skylanders Swap Force, the next highly anticipated installment in the Skylanders franchise. Earlier in the week, Activision confirmed a release date of October, and have followed up at E3 with some new screenshots and gameplay information. Skylanders Swap Force adds a new dimension of customization to the Skylanders experience, allowing Portal Masters to interchange characters top and bottoms, as well as adding many new abilities, such as flying, climbing and teleportation to the mix.

Skylanders Swap Force will boast an array of over 50 characters, including 16 new core characters, 8 new lightcore Skylanders, 16 fan favourites and 16 members of the Swap Force team, all of which have had their level cap raised to 20, and due to popular demand, all with the ability now to jump. The evil Kaos has also kept to his promise and returned to again challenge the Skylanders reign, complete with his minions and a diabolical new plan to wreak havoc on Skylands.

Skylanders Swap Force will be released early October across all popular platforms, including Wii, Wii U, 3DS, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PS4, with Vicarious Visions taking over from Toys for Bob on the console versions.

PAC-MAN Returns in All Forms for PAC-MAN Museum

Namco Bandai is bring PAC-MAN back again this time collecting all the incarnations from the very first game to the newest like PAC-MAN Battle Royale. This new collection will be titled PAC-MAN Museum and players wanting to relive the old days or check out the new will be able to find on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and PC.

PAC-MAN Museum will be releasing digitally in the summer down under for both Europe and Australasia. This will mark the first time the multiplayer PAC-MAN Battle Royale will be available on consoles and PC, so that up to four players can face off to eat ghosts, pellets, and each other.

The collection will also be including PAC-MAN Championship Edition, for all versions of the game except Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 as it was previously released as PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX. Though to make up for its exclusion, that game will be receiving a free update as PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ to add improved leaderboards, achievements, medals, and DLC mazes this winter.

Last but not least PAC-MAN was revealed to becoming back in an all new game in PAC-MAN and the Ghostly Adventures, based off the new TV series. The game will be coming to Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, PC, and side-scrolling version for 3DS.

Alienware Pushes New Laptops At E3

Top gaming manufacturer, Alienware, have made an appearance at E3 this year and with them, they have brought along their newest gaming laptops. These new machines will come in a few new variations, with each having a corresponding screensize. These are the 14, 17 and 18 inch versions.

The Alienware 14 is the entry level laptop from the vendor, promising that the enthusiast gamer will have something lightweight enough to carry around, but robust enough to still play games. There is a 17inch variation called the Alienware 17. This laptop is aimed more at gamers that want performance and visual appreciation. Following the convention, the Alienware 18 is the top of the line model that the press release promises the ultimate respect from gamers everywhere.

To quote the Press Release –

The new laptops include the Alienware 14 for the enthusiast gamer who requires a laptop that provides enough performance for any task, yet is mobile enough to fit into a backpack; the Alienware 17 for an immersive, graphics-intensive experience with the latest technologies for desktop-grade performance; and the Alienware 18, the ultimate gaming laptop that commands respect among top gamers for its unparalleled performance and construction.

The laptops take their aesthetics from jet engines and stealth bombers, promising an attractive look. In particular, the case will be made from an aluminium shell and magnesium alloy body, ensuring a bright end for gamers everywhere. Also of note, is that the Alienware 14 will be featuring an anti-glare LCD screen with IPS capabilities.

The following is a quote of the full specifications of the laptops –

The laptops sport full voltage, quad-core 4^th generation Intel Core i7 processors, and NVIDIA GeForce 700 series graphics. DDR3L memory provides exceptional bandwidth with lower voltage requirements designed for increased battery life, and the laptops now provide support for up to three storage drives on the Alienware 14, and up to four storage drives on the Alienware 17 and 18. For the first time ever, the Alienware 18 will feature NVIDIA SLI dual graphics technology as standard, and the laptop will offer an overclocked CPU option with a maximum speed of 4.3GHz. The laptops all feature Ethernet technology by Qualcomm’s Killer networks, Klipsch speakers and Dolby Home Theater v4 audio.

Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS screenshots will blow your mind

Following their massive E3 2013 showcase, Nintendo have released a plethora of amazing screenshots for their upcoming titles Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. The screenshots detail both games’ impressive line-up of playable characters which spans generations of gaming, including icons of gaming such as newly announced Mega Man. Magrunner: Dark Pulse Early Access Now Available on Steam

Magrunner: Dark Pulse seems to be shaping up pretty nicely thanks to all the hard work from the devs over at Frogwares, but players don’t have to take our word for it as its publisher Focus Home Interactive has announced that those the pre-purchase the game through Steam can download the Early Access now.

Those that want to harness the powers of magnetism and face off against the cosmic horrors need only check out the Magrunner: Dark Pulse Steam page where players, if they have already pre-purchased or do so now, can download the Early Access which consists of the game’s first 12 rooms. This early access will vanish into the depths of insanity and turn into the full game next week when it releases for PC on June 20th, 2013. Console players don’t have to sweat too much as the XBLA and PSN versions of Magrunner: Dark Pulse will be releasing this September.

Video Demonstration of ‘The PlayRoom’ on the PS4

Sony introduces… ‘The PlayRoom’. A new video has emerged from E3 2013 showing off some of the capabilities of the PS4’s Dualshock 4 controller and PlayStation 4 Camera when used in conjunction.

The demonstration trailer can be viewed embedded at the bottom of this article. In it, a couple are seen interacting with the space around them via the use of motion and touch control, as well as camera and smartphone integration. This particular example of augmented reality on the console is quite “kiddish”, but it is officially the first look we have received at some of these functionalities (like the touchpad and light on the top of the gamepad) in-action.

Gameloft Announces Asphalt 8 and Brothers in Arms 3 at E3

Mobile mega-developer Gameloft have revealed two upcoming games for the iOS (iPhone, iPad, iTouch) and Android platforms at E3 2013: Asphalt 8: Airborne and Brothers in Arms 3.

Asphalt 8: Airborne – Due for release in Q3 of 2013.

Konami Gives Full Line Up for E3 2013

Konami has already released plenty for E3 with new information on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and Metal Gear Solid V, but the heavy hitters aren’t the only things they have on display and in store for this year’s show. At their booth Konami has also got the upcoming Pro Evolution Soccer 2014, which is the first time the new Fox Engine game will be exhibited, though attendees shouldn’t expect to be able to walk up and check it out as it will be by appointment only.

In addition to their console offerings, Konami also has some social and mobile games that will be on display on the floor:

Casino League – Android and iOS
Domo Jump – iOS
MLB Live Challenge – iOS and Facebook
Slot Revolution – Android and iOS

Those lucky enough to be attending E3 2013 can head on over to Konami’s booth (# 2401 in the South Hall) while those that are checking out the action at home will have to wait until more specific coverage starts coming out of the show.

Out of the Shadows of E3 Comes Thief Screens and Artwork

After a pre-E3 trailer, and now being shown on the show floor of E3 2013, Square Enix have shared with us a big batch of new screenshots and concept art from Thief, developed by Eidos Montreal.

The game – which is coming to the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 sometime in 2014 – is the 4th title in the stealth series, with master thief Garrett being the main protagonist. “Some steal to survive; Garrett survives to steal…” Check out the gallery of aforementioned images below!

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX E3 Trailer

E3 2013 is a good time for Kingdom Hearts fans. After much clamouring, a sequel has been announced for the PlayStation 4! Through sheer excitement and joy, those same fans may have missed the new trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, set to hit store shelves September 12th, 2013 for the PS3.

You can view the trailer embedded below the key-art featured at the bottom of this article. For those who are unaware, the collection from Disney Interactive and Square Enix includes HD remakes of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 (w/ HD cinematics), all with full PS3 trophy support, and brand-new content.

The Limited Edition with Art-book is now available for pre-order from select ANZ retailers.
