It’s only 40 seconds long but it’s a damn good 40 seconds for fans of the first game! Sorry, I jumped ahead, let me rewind for a minute. If you’re not familiar with the super cool, super retro, gore-fest that is Hotline Miami let me introduce you: I’m not going to say much about the story because it’s one that you have to play through on your own to get the full vibe. So basically you’re a murderer, you get calls, you put on masks and you kill people you have to kill. The first game got mega reviews and the general populous loved it (including me).
We’ve now been shown the first of many videos to come of the second, and what seems to be final, instalment of the game. Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is said to pick up right where the story left off in the first game and it is promised to be a brutal, brutal ending to such an already bloody story.
The sequel sports a different theme this time and that theme is “Hero worship”. We’ll see a bunch of actors making a movie about the events that transpired in the first game and we’ll also see a group of hardcore fans dishing out plenty of murder just like their hero Jacket.
This game is going to be big just like its predecessor. Expect lots of bloody, damn good music and a story that’ll drive you mental with Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number. Catch the teaser trailer in our featured video section below and don’t forget to drop us a line in our comments section.
If you’ve all been keeping up to date with this season’s anime then you’ll know of a series called Mushibugyo. For those of you who don’t know what Mushibugyo is; it’s an anime set in the Edo period of Japan but with a twist…gigantic bugs. Yes, gigantic bugs. In this anime we see samurai pitted against insect in a battle for supremacy. The main character Jinbee Tsukishima is part of a team which has but only one purpose: Save Edo from these gargantuan critters. The series has been noted as; “like Bleach on crack” and I can honestly see why.
Just a little taste of what the game will be like!
Namco Bandai Games revealed on Wednesday that a 3DS, action/role-playing game is in the works. It is based off of the anime and manga and will feature playable characters like Jinbee and his fellow Mushibugyo members that you’ll be able to use against an array of giant insects. It will be available in both physical form and through download. The game will be available for 5,980 yen, which is about US$63, and is slated for release on the 19th of September this year. Both an early demo and a new promotional video for the new game will be released at the Jisedai World Hobby Fair ’13 in Chiba on the 29th and 30th of June so expect some big news about this game to surface within a week or two.
There are a lot of great anime games that are headed to the 3DS and I’m glad Mushibugyo is one of them. So go and get your house bug-bombed and set up all the citronella candles you have because we’ll soon be delving deeper into the world of Mushibugyo. Keep an eye on the sight for all new info as it comes through and don’t forget to drop us a line in our comments section below.
The future of the Xbox One was shadowy after E3, what with Sony openly mocking the company on stage and Microsoft making themselves an obvious enemy to consumers and now a week later, the company has spiraled into full damage control mode and is backpedaling on a number of their policies.
Today Dan Mattrick himself made a large post saying that “Your Feedback Matters” and because of gamer feedback, the company is changing two of the most controversial aspects of the Xbox One. The console will now only require a one-time internet connection when the system is being set up, which means that there will no longer be a daily authentication check-in and all discs will work like they have in the past, meaning all you need is the game itself to play and trade-ins/rentals/borrowing from friends will remain the same as it is today. Hell, the company even came out and said that the console will not be region locked. Nifty huh? If you want to read the entire post by Dan Mattrick you can read it below.
Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience.
For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment. We imagined a new set of benefits such as easier roaming, family sharing, and new ways to try and buy games. We believe in the benefits of a connected, digital future.
Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One.
You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world.
So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:
An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.
In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console — there will be no regional restrictions.
These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.
We appreciate your passion, support and willingness to challenge the assumptions of digital licensing and connectivity. While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. We have listened and we have heard loud and clear from your feedback that you want the best of both worlds.
Thank you again for your candid feedback. Our team remains committed to listening, taking feedback and delivering a great product for you later this year.
Today it was revealed in the latest issue of Jump Magazine that Namco Bandai‘s teaser site will likely be for a game called Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers. Why you ask? Well today the magazine had the scan which you can see to the right which reveals the next Saint Seiya title as a fighting game that will feature characters from the anime’s Sanctuary chapter up to the Elysion Chapter. Also confirmed for the game are characters from The Lost Canvas and Omega.
Currently confirmed characters are Pegasus Seiya, Phoenix Ikki, Andromeda Shun, Cygnus Hyoga, Dragon Shiryu, Gemini Saga, Kaiou Poseidon, and Meiou Hades. The game is currently set to be released on the PlayStation 3 sometime this fall in Japan while no Western release has been announced and given the fact that the last Saint Seiya game was never released overseas, it is unlikely that this one will.
While many people have already guessed this was the case, Ubisoft has never officially said why they chose to delay Rayman Legends on the Wii U and choose to release it on every other platform available this generation.
Well last week during E3 Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot spoke with VentureBeat and he confirmed what many of us have already guessed, that the low sales of the Wii U prompted the decision.
“What happened was that we saw the Wii U was not going to sell enough of those games. The game is going to be fantastic, and we didn’t want those creators to wind up in a position where even after making a fantastic game, they didn’t sell well enough. We decided that we had to come out on enough machines that players can try it out on any one that they have, and give more time to both improve the game on the Wii U and create versions for the other consoles.”
Today a new promotional video for the upcoming Hyperdimension Neptunia anime was released and you can check it out below. Interestingly enough, the video begins with an English text Star Wars opening that explains the anime’s storyline which also reveals that it will feature an original story, not one found in the games the anime is based off of.
The anime is currently set to begin airing in Japan on July 12th and at the moment no one has currently picked up the rights to release the anime in the west, but it is worth noting that NIS America, the company that has brought every Hyperdimension Neptunia game to North America so far, does work with anime as well so perhaps we will see an announcement concerning this anime sometime soon.
Today it was revealed via this week’s Jump Magazine that the next Dragon Ball Z game to come out of Namco Bandai will be a bit different than what they’ve been putting out the last few years. The game is called Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z and features team battles and more.
The scan reveals that the game will feature four player co-op, eight player battle royale, online multiplayer and huge boss battles. Also as you can see to the right, the Super Saiyan God which debuted in the latest Dragon Ball Z movie will also be playable. Currently no release date has been revealed butt he game was announced for release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PS Vita.
