Indie development team composed of husband and wife duo Paul and Lizo Franzen released an adorable and quirky teaser trailer for their upcoming point and click adventure game The Beard in the Mirror. The game features an average 22 year old boy who is pulled from his directionless life into a world outside his bedroom full of new fantastical adventure. The style draws heavy inspiration from retro point and click adventures from Sierra and LucasArts.
The Beard in the mirror will be released for Windows, but has no firm release date. In the mean time, check out the game on Facebook or follow developer Paul Franzen on Twitter.
What’s that? You haven’t heard of Hotline Miami? You haven’t heard of the award winning, brutal, top-down action game from Devolver Digital and Dennaton Games? Let me tell you, friend, you’re missing out, and if you have a PlayStation 3 or Vita, you don’t have to miss out any longer.
Originally released on PC, with follow-up releases on Mac and Linux, the game received critical praise. Today, console gamers can get their hands on the smash success for the first time.
The game is a two-dimensional top-down game with stealth, extreme violence, and surreal storytelling. It’s influenced both in look and sound by 1980s culture, with the film Drive as a primary influence as well.
The game is $9.99 on PSN. You can check out the launch trailer in the video below this article. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears tuned here for our inevitable review of this game.
So… Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows is now at the forefront of my mind thanks to the release of a new teaser trailer entitled simply: “Leonardo.” The trailer is a fight mechanics demo showcasing the special moves and abilities of the Leonardo character and from what’s being shown, this looks like pure fun for all ages. Also note the unique, highly realistic artistic style.
Published by Activision and developed by Red Fly Studios, the game is based around the original comic book series and is scheduled for release in August of this year. It looks like pure, arcade styled, fast-paced fighting fun.
Check out the previous trailers for Donatello and Raphael, along with the latest trailer below for the leader of the bunch Leonardo.
Deus Ex Machina (not to be confused with Deus Ex: Human Revolution), 1984’s Game of the Year, was the first true multimedia video games ever made. Now, 29 years later, the sequel is being worked on, and it has its first demo entitled, “Fertilizer and Birth!”
Deus Ex Machina 2, written by Mel Croucher (creator of the original game) and published by Automata (one of the first video game companies in the UK), the new version is a darkly comic cradle-to-the-grave ride of your entire life. It will entail everything from birth, to the temptations and dangers of life, to death and beyond.
Desu Ex Machina 2 has been translated in 19 languages. The soundtrack and book of the game have also now been released. With the goal of being funded directly by the players of the game, it’s also up on Kickstarter.
You can check out the first demo of the game here. Also be sure to head over to their Kickstarter page for more information.
Amidst the crowds and chaos of Supanova 2013, I was fortunate enough to take a breather and interview the wonderful and incredibly mellow Greg Cipes. Most well known for his roles as Beast Boy and Kevin Levin, from Teen Titans and Ben 10 respectively, he shed light upon the intricacies and experiences of voice acting along with his own personal philosophies on life. We were also lucky enough to be  treated to a sneak peek of an upcoming song from his band Super Space Fighters, coming out later this year.
When there’s trouble you know who to call…
We would like to thank Greg Cipes for speaking to us here at Capsule Computers and teaching us how to be yourself, even when your job is acting as other people.

While the last DLC for Borderlands 2 was not part of the Season Pass, but did add a psychotic new character, the newest DLC is the final piece of the Season Pass giving access to “Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep”. For the launch of this new DLC then, 2k Games and Gearbox Software have released a trailer showing off what players can expect from the crazy mind of one of Borderlands 2‘s most infamous characters.
Borderland 2 is known for it’s more outlandish stylized approach and, from the trailer, it looks like they are going one better by setting up the entire DLC as a table top game run by Tiny Tina herself. With tropes from the fantasy world, as seen with Ellie wearing a Leia slave-esque outfit stating “This ain’t going protect me for balls, but feel pretty hot right now. Ain’t gonna lie.”
Players wanting to see what “Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep” will have in store for them can view the launch trailer embedded below, while those wanting to download the DLC for Borderlands 2 can download it for free with the Season Pass or, or those without the Season Pass, for 800 MS Points on Xbox 360, $9.99 on PS3 or PC. Those wanting to know more about Borderlands 2 can check out our Review.
This year, much like all other years, the stars at Supanova Sydney were really shining the way nature intended, the fans were burning with the force of a thousand suns in anticipation to see them all! Sounds pretty intense right? Well, yeah, it was and although she was placed right in the middle of such a big event, just like her fellow stars, the voice acting superstar Cristina Vee took some time out of her “chock-a-block” day to sit down with us at Capsule Computers for a short interview.
The voice of Cerebella done by Cristina Vee.
She has so many fans that love her for her characters in both the anime series K-on! and Madoka Magica but my interview with her went in a bit of a different direction, sorry to disappoint you K-on!/Madoka Magica fans. Today we spoke about her big role in the game Skullgirls, both as a voice actress and large role as a voice director, we also spoke about the nerves that come with acting and ways that those feelings can actually be overcome and, in some cases, actually help when acting.
It’s all in the interview which you can find in our Featured Video section below. I’d like to personally thank Cristina Vee for taking the time to sit with us and do the interview and I’d also like to thank Supanova Sydney for giving us the space in which to do so.
While many gamers rejoiced when an R+ rating was introduced into the Australian Gaming market, there were also many who saw it for the facade that it was, realising that very little had actually changed. Those gamers who whole heartedly supported the decision were blinded by bloodlust, certain they would never miss out again on the sexual deviance and gratuitous violence that fellow gamers in many other countries had always enjoyed.
The classification board unfortunately has a tricky little rating up its sleeve, called RC (Refused Classification), which it will always throw on the table when controversial franchises like Mortal Kombat or Grand Theft Auto bring out new installments. This time around, Saints Row finds itself under the spotlight, with its upcoming title being refused classification by the board, and consequently is currently banned from sale.
The Government Classification Board stated, “Saints Row IV“, includes interactive, visual depictions of implied sexual violence which are not justified by context. In addition, the game includes elements of illicit or proscribed drug use related to incentives or rewards. Such depictions are prohibited by the computer games guidelines.” While this goes a long way towards helping to keep violent games away from children, a classification system that can be simply trumped by a RC rating seems somewhat redundant, and still goes no further towards allowing consenting Australian adults to enjoy their games in the same format as everyone else.
The games publisher, Deep Silver and Developer, Volition are planning to rework some of the games code to bring it in line with Australian territory laws. Saints Row IV is set for release August 2oth for PS3, XBox 360 and PC.
Com2uS has announced the newest title to be added to their extensive lineup: Brave Heroes.
