Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! Continues on iOS Today with New Interactive Adventure in Kharé: Cityport of Traps

Steve Jackson’s Sorcery! Continues on iOS Today with New Interactive Adventure in Kharé: Cityport of Traps

New players can enjoy Sorcery! Part 2 as a standalone story, while Part 1 players can pick up where they left off

CAMBRIDGE, U.K. – November 7, 2013 – Independent developer inkle and author Steve Jackson are announcing that Sorcery! Part 2 is now available for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. The second installment in a series of narrative games that brings Jackson’s renowned 1980s gamebooks into the touchscreen age, Sorcery! Part 2 is an interactive story that can be continued from Part 1 or started fresh as a standalone adventure. The game sells for $4.99 USD (or equivalent) from the App Store: http://itunes.apple.com/app/sorcery!-2/id627880433

inkle‘s Sorcery! games put you in the shoes of a hero or heroine on a quest to recover the stolen Crown of Kings. Part 1 involved a journey through the Shamutanti Hills, a perilous landscape that could only be survived with tactical swordplay, clever magic, and good old-fashioned brainpower. But those hills were a cakewalk compared to Part 2‘s Kharé, a bustling cityport where restless citizens and a brutal goblin army are about to come to blows. Secrets, traps, and trickery abound — and even if you do reach the locked gate at the far end of the city, it only opens for those who uncover the city’s most ancient secrets.

Sorcery! Part 2 is a highly flexible interactive narrative that writes itself around players’ choices. With more than 300,000 words (twice the content of the first game) and nearly 10,000 choices to make, the story can be played and replayed with unique outcomes each time. In a feature unique to Part 2, you can challenge the townspeople in Swindlestones, a dice game based on lies and deceit that yields clues to Kharé’s traps and enigmas. A detailed 3D street map with additional interior insets of key buildings lets you explore the city inside and out — a city whose locations change over time as you make your way through. There are also over 30 monsters to fight with swords or fists, more gorgeous illustrations by John Blanche, and an upgraded 3D spellcasting system.

When it released in May, Sorcery! Part 1 (https://itunes.apple.com/app/id627879091) was exceptionally well received by press and players, earning an 85% ranking on Metacritic and a 4.5-star user rating on the App Store. IGN cited it as “a prime example of what can happen when traditional storytelling gets along with contemporary game design”; GamesMaster called it “the best rendition of the gamebook format we’ve yet seen on tablets and a shining example of the promise the genre holds.” The series will debut for Android in December.

The extra performance means more immersive gaming including life-like environments, realistic combat and spectacular, cinematic visuals.

“NVIDIA engineers work with their Ubisoft counterparts across the globe to ensure that PC games are the best they can be – and ‘Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’ is a great example of that,” said Tony Tamasi, senior vice president of Content and Technology at NVIDIA. “We’ve integrated advanced, PC-specific technologies into the game to give mood and depth to scenes and bring buildings and landscapes to life. The end result is an unparalleled visual treat, and set to be an absolute PC blockbuster.”

Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag will feature several NVIDIA Technologies: God Rays – which allowed Ubisoft Montreal to paint beams of light that illuminate a scene from above, horizon-based ambient occlusion + (HBAO+) for more detailed and realistic shadows around objects that obstruct rays of light, percentage-closer soft shadows (PCSS) for more lifelike contact hardening shadows, and temporal anti-aliasing (TXAA) for smoother edges. Microsoft Release Internet Explorer Anime

Internet-Explorer-Inori-Aizawa-Pic

Now here is something I don’t think any of us expected, Microsoft Singapore have made a short anime video with a character that is the anime personification of internet explorer.

The video is only two minutes and ten seconds long and was made to celebrate the 2013 Anime Festival Asia. The video starts with the heroine, Inori Aizawa, running away from robots who are trying to capture her; once they surrounded her she goes through a Mahou Shojo transformation and obliterates them. The short clip does contain elements that are similar to other anime shows; Evangelion, Sailor Moon and even a hint of KyoAni (at 0.40 seconds) come to mind.

If you want to know more about Inori Aizawa then you can also check out her Facebook page, no really they actually made one for her.  A recent comment made by Aizawa states that she used to be slow and clumsy, but has matured over the years and wants you to try her out (her being the latest Internet Explorer that is).

Although it may not be the most popular web browser, Internet Explorer has managed to capture the attention of many people with this well put together video. Aizawa may just convince a few people to upgrade or even switch browsers; they may even show up as villains in future videos.

You can check out the video below, Tell us what you think about the video, and if you find any other anime references, by leaving a comment down below or here on YouTube.

One Piece Unlimited World Red Newest Trailer

one-piece-unlimited-world-red-collage-01

Namco Bandai Games have just released another fantastic trailer for their upcoming One Piece game for the 3DS; One Piece Unlimited World Red. This brand new trailer goes for just over four minutes and shows off a great deal of gameplay, showcasing some of the characters that are playable, bosses to fight in the game, more footage of the new characters and a bunch of the mini-games you can play in-between the story.

As I mentioned above, the more we see of the game the better and better it is looking and, I have to say, this Trailer really portrays the typical One Piece action that we’ve all seen throughout the Manga and the Anime in an almost perfect way. We’re all very excited for the release of this game and, although there’s no talks of a Western release yet, we’re still hoping that One Piece: Unlimited World Red will be coming our way.

Head down to our Featured Video Section just below to check out the brand-new trailer and don’t forget to hit up our comments section to let us know what you think of this release.

NBA 2K14 Brings the Emotion with Eco-Motion Engine

NBA 2K14 may be out now on current gen consoles, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more to say about the next gen version. A new trailer just put out today by the 2K Games shows off the newest engine in the game, that is coming only in next gen, specifically for adding emotion and excessive attention to detail.

The Eco-Motion Engine allows for even more depth of detail, from the way players on the court are planting their feet and their facial expressions, to the spin of the ball as it is dribbled and shot. Needless to say this is a lot of detail that is impossible on the current gen consoles, that is finally possible with the next gen.

A trailer detailing the Eco-Motion Engine and how it is being used within the next gen version of the game can be found embedded below. NBA 2K14 will launch with the PS4 on November 15th, and the Xbox One on November 22nd.

Ryse Son of Rome – Three New Xbox One Gameplay Videos Released

- A Gameplay Screenshot Of Ryse: Son Of Rome -

The next generation of gaming is almost here and with the impending upgrade to games in general comes the release or “almost release” of some incredible next-gen titles that we think, at this point in time, are really going to blow us away. That being said allow me to move onto my next point: Ryse: Son of Rome is an upcoming Xbox One exclusive game that puts you in control of Marius Titas who is a Roman General, it will be an action/adventure game that will fling players into the past to experience a, let’s say, “romanticised” version of that period in time.

Well the folks over at Microsft Studios and Crytek have just released three gameplay trailers of Ryse: Son of Rome, all of which you can see just below, they are individually titled and show both different gameplay aspects and different environments, they’re all fantastic and the game in it’s entirety is looking absolutely amazing. The game is set for release on the 22nd of November but for now enjoy the footage we have of the game:
