Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers Deck Pack 3 Out Now

magic-2014-screenshot-01

with 2013 over, Magic the Gathering has just wound down on its 20th anniversary. However, that doesn’t mean the strategy game in any of its forms shows any signs of slowing down. Today, Wizards have launched the latest lot of DLC decks for the digital adaptation – Magic 2014: Duels of the Planeswalkers. From today you can download these two new decks:

  • Warsmith: In the red and white “Warsmith” deck, the mere presence of your artifacts on the battlefield will bolster your unstoppable forces and empower your spells. Forge your army, and march to war!
  • Hunting Season: With this green deck, the creatures at your command will become unnaturally large, and if that should prove insufficient to crush your enemy, make more creatures. Call the hunt!

So that’s two new decks to get your hands on and try out online or against the AI opponents. Magic 2014 is still available on pretty much all platforms so if you haven’t done so already, be sure to check it out. As always, stay tuned to Capsule Computers for all the Magic the Gathering news as it becomes available.

New Featurette Introduces Jack Ryan, the Shadow Recruit

Jack-Ryan-Still-01

Paramount Pictures have released three new clips off of the heels of their Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit ‘Mega Clip‘. For those unfamiliar with the Tom Clancy character, the featurette embedded at the bottom of this article will serve you well as an introduction to the “reluctant CIA man”.

Directly below are the remaining two clips. First up is ‘You Are Operational’ – featuring Kevin Costner as Jack’s mentor William Harper telling the imminently former analyst that he is to become a field operative. The second, underneath that, is labelled ‘Hotel Room Attack’ and shows Jack (Chris Pine) at the mercy of an attempted ambush. The scene was actually included as part of the aforementioned ‘Mega Clip’ and is part of the film’s opening sequence. Talk about starting off with a bang!

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit releases in theatres throughout Australia on January 16, 2014. Stay tuned to Capsule Computers for all future Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit updates, and our review closer to release date.

Viz renews partnership with Simon & Schuster UK to expand to India

Naruto-volume-64-CoverIn business news today, Viz Media has announced that they have renewed their partnership with Simon & Schuster UK, which is one of the UK’s leading publishers. This partnership is a renewal of their existing sales and distribution partnership.

While this is some great news in its own right, it is worth noting that this agreement also means that botch companies will be expanding their distributions to India, where Simon & Schuster India will offer English manga to perhaps the fasted growing market in the entire world. This will include titles such as Naruto and the recently released Nisekoi, and all of Viz’s various imprints, including Shonen Jump, Shonen Jump Advanced, Shojo Beat, Shonen Sunday, Perfect Square, VIZ Signature, Studio Ghibli Library, and Haikasoru.

Kevin Hamric, senior director of publishing sales & marketing at Viz Media, had this to say about the continuing partnership:

“VIZ Media has been looking to expand internationally for a number of years and Simon & Schuster UK and India are important strategic partners for us as we continue to cultivate & grow the substantial international English-language manga market. We look forward to bringing our most popular manga titles to awaiting fans!”

Not only did we learn that there will be a Senran Kagura cooking game and a possible sequel to Shinovi Versus in the latest issue of Famitsu, but it also turns out that a full sequel for the original Senran Kagura is being developed under the name Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson for the 3DS.

The game is currently set to be released on August 7th in Japan and will feature a number of enhancements such as boss battles on a 3D field, co-op gameplay, and tag-team multiplayer modes. The tag-team mode will be called “Pair Battle” and there will even be special combination attacks that can be used. Also revealed are two new characters named Kagura and Naraku and even Murasame, the shunned older brother of Ikaruga, will be playable for players that have save data from Senran Kagura Burst. Expect more details about the game to be revealed later on.

Dekamori Senran Kagura and Senran Kagura EV Revealed (Update)

Dekamori-Senran-Kagura-01

While a major announcement is meant to be made tonight for the Senran Kagura series, it looks like the leaks from the latest issue of Famitsu have decided to steal some of that thunder. First we have two unique little titles that people probably didn’t expect considering the Senran Kagura series is known for being an action title, as well as one that features busty ninjas with clothing ripping off of them.

The first title revealed is a cooking rhythm game called Dekamori Senran Kagura for the PS Vita and PSP. The game will feature all of the characters from the first two Senran Kagura titles while ninjas from Shinovi Versus will be released as DLC and if the a character loses a cooking match, they will need to strip.

The second game we have very limited information on, but it happens to be called Senran Kagura EV which many people are hoping will be related to Senran Kagura: Shinovi Versus as it is set for currently unrevealed Sony platforms. Expect more details to be revealed during the company’s announcement stream.

Update: During the stream Senran Kagura EV’s full name was revealed to be Senran Kagura: Estival Versus and it is connected to Shinovi Versus, however no other details were given.

NCSOFT and ArenaNet have delivered a highlight reel showcasing storyline events that have happened thus far in their popular MMORPG, Guild Wars 2. In addition to bringing viewers up to speed with past/current events, the film hints towards a big finale that is upon us at the end of January. Game Director Colin Johanson posted the following in his blog “Recap: The Living World of Guild Wars 2”:

As we announced back in December, we’re down to just four releases to go in the current storyline of living world. The first of those four releases is nearly upon us, and we wanted to help take a moment and look back at the key moments that have brought us up to this point as a refresher before we dive head-first into countdown to the big finale.

Scarlet Briar has been the puppeteer orchestrating the madness that has been plaguing Tyria this whole time! But her tale has not yet ended, and yours has yet to truly begin. Take away with you a daunting message: ‘The End Begins January 21’.
