space-run-screenshot-006

Discover Space Run‘s gameplay mechanics in the new trailer for Focus Home Interactive and Passtech Games‘ soon-to-be released sci-fi, strategy/tower defense title, embedded at the bottom of this article.

Space Run employs a mix of strategy, vessel construction and intense tower defense whilst paysing homage to the 1980s with its numerous codes and references. As a space runner, the player is assigned missions requiring they deliver certain goods from one end of the galaxy to the other. Being quick and efficient is important to keeping your cargo, and vessel for that matter, in tact. Asteroid belts, pursuing pirates and interstellar corsairs will look to stifle your progress, so charge up your laser cannons and shields! Customising your vehicle to balance power with speed and defensive elements will be imperative to surviving and succeeding, leading to big paydays allowing you to upgrade your ship further.

Fight together or die alone in Crytek’s thrilling new IP, HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age

Fight together or die alone in Crytek’s thrilling new IP, HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age

London, UK – June 3, 2014 – Brace yourself for a spine-chilling new multiplayer experience on PC and consoles as Crytek ventures into the shadows in “HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age”.

An all-new IP, HUNT is a third-person action game where up to four players band together to fend off an onslaught of bloodthirsty creatures and track down breathtaking bosses. Featuring intense co-op gameplay, HUNT is the debut title from Crytek USA Corp., and will be published by Crytek as part of their growing Games-as-a-Service range. Players won’t have to wait long to take a closer look at HUNT in action, with the game going on show at this year’s E3 expo from June 10-12.

David Adams, CEO of Crytek USA Corp., said: “In HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age, players will be counting their bullets and crying out for help as they delve deeper into the shadowy world we’ve created. From the outset of the development process, we’ve poured our imaginations into the game so that everyone who plays HUNT will discover a challenging experience that feels fresh, captivating and rich in possibilities.”

Set in the late 1800s, HUNT depicts a world where so-called myths and folklore actually point to the terrifying truth about evil lurking just beyond the fringes of day-to-day life. Players act as hunters willing to take up arms and risk their necks by venturing into the deadliest of territories and facing the hideous creatures that have overrun them.

Adding to the thrill of the hunt is a special content generation system that ensures players never encounter exactly the same environment or set of enemies twice. As the surprises come thick and fast, the terror of knowing that one of the game’s grueling boss battles could be just around the corner will keep everyone’s pulses pounding. Defeating bosses will require close collaboration between hunters as they attempt to figure out and take down some truly terrifying monsters.

HUNT: Horrors of the Gilded Age is scheduled to enter Closed Beta testing on PC later this year, and players can sign up for a chance to experience the game first athttp://www.huntthegame.com

E3 2014 attendees looking to see HUNT in the flesh should visit Crytek at booth 4500 in the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Flat Earth Games Announces New Title Metrocide

Metrocide-Image-01
It’s a hell of a town

Announced in the recent issue of Indie Game Magazine, developer Flat Earth Games has come out with their latest project: Metrocide. The game itself combines stealth, violence and an obnoxious difficulty level complete with permadeath, the next logical step from their family friendly TownCraft title…

Metrocide places you in the well trodden shoes of T.J. Trench, a notorious contract killer in a futuristic city chock full of people who want him dead. Gangs, vigiantes, security cameras…fascist police drones. You know, the usual. Trench must utilise various guns and bombs in order to survive, though it will by no means be an easy journey.

Chaos in the deadly city

Vinny Parisi (Editor-in-Chief of Indie Game Magazine) said:

“Metrocide caught my attention immediately for two reasons: The title and the atmosphere. It would be silly not to expect a crime-ridden, brutal city with a name like that, but the game decidedly surpasses any preconceived expectations from the moment players first take to the tough streets.”

Leigh Harris (Director of Flat Earth Games) added:

“It’s kind of a sanity project for us. We’ve been working on an all-inclusive game for such a long time now. And sometimes, well, you kinda just need to shoot someone with a futuristic shotgun.”

Metrocide is set to hit PC and Mac sometime in mid 2014, so check out the official site and keep an eye on the streets…the bloody, bloody streets.

Sprechens sie Wasteland? – Wasteland 2 Crowdsources Localisation

Wasteland-2-concept-art-01

inXile Entertainment has begun efforts to localise their kickstarted RPG title, Wasteland 2 (Due to be shipped by publisher Deep Silver in August of this year), into French, Italian, German, and Spanish through crowdsourcing. Anyone can join their efforts through the Get Localization project, where you can work with other fans as well as professional editors to fix mistakes and inconsistencies within translated texts. inXile will also have some fans go a bit further and play early builds of localised variants of the game, in order to collect more effective feedback.

“This is another development concept that fits what we’ve been trying to do all along with Wasteland 2. This project could never have happened without the crowd, and that’s true for this particular effort as well. As the game’s script is approaching 500,000 words, localizing becomes an unfathomably large task, and I couldn’t imagine tackling it without our fans’ help in conjunction with the editors,” – Brian Fargo, CEO of inXile Entertainment.

Wasteland-2-screenshot-01

“Approaching 500,000 words” just made me swoon (Oh how I adore narratives in video games) and luckily initial output from this scheme appears to have paid dividends, with fans producing work at a high level of quality… but this should hardly surprise anyone who knows anything about gamer motivation and the extent to which fans will go to help further their favorite games. inXile will reward contributors who have submitted approved translations for 250+ strings with a copy of the game, as well as access to the currently ongoing beta.

Pop-up Pokémon Center Paris Opens Wednesday

Pokemon-Center-Image-01

Bonjour, Parisians! Japan has many things that the rest of the world doesn’t and one of those things in particular is a little chain of stores each named the “Pokemon Center”. As a fan of Pokemon and all around pop culture, I’m extremely jealous of Japanese citizens but now I’ve got more people to be envious of seeing as the Pokemon Company have just announced that, for a limited time, Paris will have its very own Pokemon Center!

Yes, it is true! From the 4th of June all the way up until the 21st of June, Paris will have Pokemon Center to call its own. Located at Cremerie de Paris (Hotel de Villeroy), this pop-up shop will sell all things Pokemon and feature some incredible, never-before-seen concept art from the game series. Alongside being able to purchase a whole bunch of exclusive Pokemon merchandise items, shop-goers will be able to participate in a range of different Pokemon-centric activities. They may even get a chance to meet the series mascot Pikachu!

This is a fantastic little event that will only be around for the month so head there as soon as possible so as to not miss out on any of the fun. Once again, the pop-up Pokemon Center will be located at 11 – 15, rue des Halles – angle 9, rue des Déchargeurs 75001 Paris / France or simply the Cremerie de Paris (Hotel de Villeroy).

Dizzel Hardcore Action Shooter Starts Beta Test June 20th

Dizzel Hardcore Action Shooter Starts Beta Test June 20th

Registrations now open for first Beta test of Dizzel, a new ultraviolent & action-packed shooter

Torrance, CA – June 3, 2014 – OGPlanet is excited to announce that the first Beta test for Dizzel, an eagerly anticipated new action shooter from Neowiz and NS Studio, will begin on June 20th. Players interested in joining the Beta test can register now at http://www.DizzelGame.com. Featuring fatality-style executions & multiple unique game modes full of hardcore shooter action, Dizzel will be entering the online, free-to-play, shooter space by storm.

One of Dizzel’s biggest draws is its visceral, hardcore action, featuring ‘Executions’ that give players the ability to perform a variety of unique fatalities on nearly dead foes, depending on the character and weapon they happen to be using. These Mortal Kombat-esque finishing moves can be unleashed in a variety of inventive game modes, which feature the ability to play as killer mechs or powered-up boss characters, or even engage in four-team firefights. From unloading your assault rifle in the face of your enemy to hacking them to bits with a giant axe, Dizzel’s bloodlust knows no bounds.

Dizzel Overview:
Dizzel is a hardcore action shooter developed by Neowiz and NS Studio. Set in the not too distant future, Dizzel features non-stop, heart-pumping action through a variety of unique maps and game modes. Resembling the over-the-shoulder shooter style of Gears of War, Dizzel bolsters a variety of powerful weapons, from assault rifles and shotguns to massive swords and axes, to slay your enemies. Combined with a variety of unlockable skills and power ups, the bloodthirsty soldiers of Dizzel leave a trail of carnage and bodies in their wake.

Once ready for battle, Dizzel features multiple exciting and unique game modes to unleash your onslaught of destruction, such as Predator Mode, where the player becomes an unstoppable force with intense boosts in speed and attack damage, not to mention a giant ninja sword for dicing through enemies. If this mode doesn’t satisfy your need for carnage enough, then take turns hunting down your foes as mechanized war machines. These killer sentinels know no mercy as they laugh at your attempts to destroy them with mere bullets while chopping you in two. If you’ve got a friend you can trust, you can band together against 3 other teams in a four-way firefight. For the more traditional shooter fans, Dizzel comes equipped with a standard array of other game modes such as Team Deathmatch and Demolition as well. Dizzel will sate your thirst for lead-pumping action, no matter what type of shooter fan you are.

Dizzel’s Key Features:

  • Fatalities: Simply shooting your enemies to death is for newbs. Pull off brutal & stylish executions to finish off your enemies before their teammates can revive them.
  • Take Cover: Pop in and out from cover with guns blazing like you are in an old-school John Woo movie, or unleash a barrage of bullets at your enemies from the safety of being behind cover. Aiming is overrated anyway.
  • GAME MODES:
  • Killer Sentinels: Each team takes turns as the killer sentinel war machines, while the opposing team tries to survive by any means necessary.
  • Predator Mode: A player is randomly selected between rounds to be the ‘BOSS’, with tremendous speed, massive stat boosts, and a giant sword!
  • Team Death Match, Demolition and More!
  • Weapons & Items Galore: With lots of guns, melee weapons, and grenades to choose from, it’s easy to personalize your killing style. Character, outfit, and equipment choices let you push the customization to the next level.

Mario Kart 8 Sells 1.2 Million Copies in Two Days

mario-kart-8-screenshot-05

Nintendo must feel rather proud right now. Despite the fact that the Wii U has been a bit neglected by the mainstream audience, Mario Kart 8 has bounced back and sold 1.2 million copies worldwide in just two days. That is quite a feat for any publisher out there, and considering the market that the platform has dealt with – it means brighter things are ahead and its time to look up (check out our own review here).

Reggie had this to say on the feat:

“The early response to Mario Kart 8 demonstrates that the best days for Wii U are still ahead,” said Nintendo of America president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “This year’s E3 is just days away, and it will be all about the future games for Nintendo platforms. This milestone is a great place to start!”

As many of you know, the game also has receive a meme of sorts that is making its way around the internet, featuring a very angry Luigi. Watch the clip down below and enjoy those new animations.
