Yes Project CARS released just last month but that hasn’t stopped Slightly Mad Studios announcing it is now accepting crowdfunding to fund the sequel, Project CARS 2. Some might argue the studio is getting a little too greedy and ambitious, asking for £7,000,000. In comparison the first game managed to raise just under £3,000,000 and even other very popular Kickstarters such as Shenmue 3 and Yooka-Laylee have not come close to raising that amount of money. To be honest we don’t see it happening. The campaign is currently on £245,000.
The studio seems to have rather ambitious plans for the sequel with the most notable points listed below.
THE LARGEST TRACK ROSTER EVER – 50 unique locations and 200+ courses including ‘loose surface racing’ on dirt, gravel, mud, and snow. All will have dynamic time of day and weather allowing you to play anytime, anywhere.
THE WIDEST VARIETY OF MOTORSPORTS with 8 different disciplines now including Rallycross, Hillclimbs, and Touge. 200+ cars from over 40 different vehicle classes including never-before-seen Concepts and Banned Race Cars.
CO-OP CAREER – Play as the Teammate Driver, Spotter, Driver Swap, or Co-Pilot. More choices, more opportunities, more strategy, greater risks and greater rewards.
SEAMLESSLY CONNECTED – Socialize and compete via Online Track Days, have players from around the world take the place of AI-controlled drivers in your solo play, and get news updates on the Driver Network around you.
PRO ESPORTS RACING – Skill & Behavioural-based matchmaking, create your own Online Racing Seasons, and Live Broadcast and Spectator functionality.
YOUR HOME FOR RACING – Your own personal, customisable Test Track to tune and test your cars. Invite others to showcase your passion for racing and learn race craft and engineering with the Project CARS Academy.
As you can probably expect, people were both shocked and outraged, taking to the official forumsto vent their frustration at a sequel being announced so close after the release of the original game and after the Steam Summer Sale had just come to an end. Many players are concerned that this will impact the support planned for the first game and many are wondering why the studio is turning to crowdfunding yet again as opposed to using the profit generated from the first game.
A recent patch made available for PS4 and Xbox One significantly improved the performance on both consoles and also added the option to turn off or reduce the strange ghosting effect on the PS4 version of the game. Funnily enough, the Wii U version of the first Project CARS is still very much in limbo, but we are willing to bet an official announcement on its cancellation will be announced soon as the developers stated they were struggling to get the game running properly on Nintendo’s console. In no surprise to anyone, Project CARS 2 has been stated to be coming only to the PS4, Xbox One and PC with no release window mentioned as of yet.
The Xbox One is not the only console getting the 1 TB treatment. The PlayStation 4 Ultimate Player Edition will be packing a 1 TB hard drive, allowing gamers plenty of room for all their free games from PlayStation Plus with some more to spare for pre-ordered games that automatically download so they can be ready when the game launches. Until now, the biggest hard drive available was a measly 500 GB.
Australians can expect the PlayStation 4 Ultimate Player Edition to hit the shelves of their local retailer on July 15th, 2015. The recommended retail price will be $549.95 AUD. Europeans will be able to get their hands on the 1 TB units around the same time as Australia, but no word on exactly when North Americans will get the 1 TB units.

Are you ready to BE the Batman? Ready to roam the streets of Gotham City and eat the Batmobile? Wait, what, EAT the Batmobile? Yep, Ok my report definitely says eat. Well, you CAN eat the Batmobile with the help of Warner Bros. and N2 Extreme Gelato. To celebrate the launch of Batman: Arkham Knight, the two have combined to release three limited edition Gelato flavours to really get you into the spirit of the game; The Batmobile, The Scarecrow and The Riddler. Here are the flavours in all of their glory:
3 syringes filled with citrus ‘fear toxin’ bitters
The Riddler
Matcha gelato
Green tea, ‘bewildered’ choc top
‘Confused’ ganache
Feuilletines ‘puzzled bits’
Topped with ‘?’ waffle discs
I’ll be honest all editorialising aside, The Batmobile sounds absolutely delicious and I wish I lived closer to the city so that I could justify the trip there! If you are in the neighborhood (Newtown for Sydneysiders, and Brunswick Street for Melbourners) then make sure you head down there from June 24th to try it out. Then of course check back in and let us know how the flavours were, and as always stay tuned to Capsule Computers for all of the awesome Batman news as it becomes available.

Anime Sols, a crowdfunding platform for bringing classic anime series to DVD, announced at the end of March that they would be shutting down on the 1st of May, 2015. All of their remaining DVDs must now be sold by June 30 or else they will be destroyed. Anime Sols explained why this is the case: “Because the LLP partnership will disappear and any remaining stock would be counted as capital that would have to be split up among the partners, counted as “income” and thus taxable. In order to avoid that significant cost to the partners we will destroy them beforehand”.
The pair released a concept trailer that sets the stage for their upcoming game. Set in 20th century London, the Spanish Flu is ravaging the world, and will eventually kill off 3-5% of the entire human population. The flu is not the only disease to terrorize humanity, the vampires are also walking the streets. Players will become John E. Reid, a military surgeon, WWI veteran, and now a vampire. He is battling to stay as human as possible while being gripped with the growing hunger for blood.
The blood serves as the source of Reid’s power and his health, forcing the player to make difficult choices in combat. The entire world is a potential feeding ground for Reid, but each life taken may cause unexpected consequences in the future. Vampyr will feature a deep crafting system that will arm Reid with powerful weapons. The game features melee, ranged, and magical combat against a variety of creatures, both human and supernatural.
Vampyr will launch in 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
