Sydney, Australia – August 7, 2015 2K and Gearbox Software today announced that Battleborn™, the new first-person shooter from the creators of Borderlands, will be available worldwide on February 9, 2016 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, and Windows PC. An open beta will be held prior to the release of the game and more details about the public test will be shared later this year. Additionally, today the companies revealed four new playable heroes at Gamescom, including Ambra, Mellka, Reyna, and Benedict.

Set in the distant future, Battleborn is a first-person shooter featuring 25 unique playable heroes who form an unlikely alliance to save the last star in the universe from a mysterious enemy hell-bent on its destruction. Battleborn’s narrative-driven story mode can be played alone or co-operatively by up to five friends splitscreen* and online. The game’s three different competitive multiplayer modes can be played by up to 10 players online in action-packed 5v5 matches. Regardless of the mode being played, players will experience deep and customizable character growth for all 25 playable heroes.

The four new playable heroes revealed today include:

  • Ambra: Born into an ancient order of priestesses responsible for discovering a way to prolong life indefinitely, Ambra was betrayed by her leader and her faction, the Jennerit Empire, and now fights alongside the Battleborn. She is a specialist hero, dealing damage up close through her melee attacks and powerful abilities, while healing her allies in the process.
  • Mellka: A stealthy assassin, Mellka lost her parents at a young age before eventually earning her place among the Eldrid’s black op’s and intelligence bureau. Her life has been defined by a series of staggering losses, but her response to these losses was never despair – it was fury. She strikes quickly, disorienting foes with her nerve gas machine pistol and bio-glaive melee attacks.
  • Reyna: Known by her followers as “The Valkyrie,” Reyna was born aboard the Rogue faction’s ailing junk heap of a flagship and is a native to the last star system. Reyna has fought tirelessly for the freedom of her space pirate comrades, finding her calling as their inspirational leader. She dishes damage with her laser pistol and uses her command glove to support her teammates.
  • Benedict: August Benedict Jr. is one of several surviving races of bird-like “Aviant” refugees. He swore allegiance to the Peacekeepers where he’s gained considerable notoriety for being a self-centered jerk that’s capable of astounding destruction with his rocket launcher. Double jumping, rocket jumping, and flying – Benedict’s good at all of them and he lets his teammates know it.

For in-depth information on each of the new playable heroes, including their complete backstories and full list of abilities, visit the official Battleborn blog. Battleborn is not yet rated in Australia or New Zealand. The game features a class-less loadout system. Currently, the game features two maps in the Operation Firewall game mode, with more game modes and maps on the way. World of Warcraft: Legion Announced as Next Expansion Pack

world-of-warcraft-legion-promo-art-001

Blizzard brought out their big guns to gamescom 2015 this year, choosing the European show for the announcement of the next World of Warcraft expansion packWorld of Warcraft: Legion will bring players to The Broken Isles, where the demonic invasion lead by the Burning Legion threatens all of Azeroth. Classic heroes such as Maiev Shadowsong Illidan Stormrage are returning for this pack’s story arc.

The expansion pack will raise the level cap to 110 and introduce the Demon Hunter class. Only playable by Night Elves and Blood Elves, the Demon Hunters are blind, but highly mobile melee fighters that will serve as melee DPS and tanks. They can get into combat quickly, dodge attacks, and quickly flank with double jumps, vaults, and glides. When the situation calls for a little more punch, the Demon Hunter can use Metamorphosis to turn into their demonic form. Just don’t assume their blindness means they can’t see. In fact, Spectral Sight allows Demon Hunters to see better than other classes, allowing them to find hidden targets. Currently, only two specializations has been announced, Vengeance for tanking and Havoc for DPS.

world-of-warcraft-legion-screenshot-01

Existing classes are getting some love too. Artifact weapons are being introduced for each class. These weapons have special abilities and traits that are unlocked based on player choices. Not much information on the Order Halls was made available, but it sounds like they will be World of Warcraft: Legion’s version of the existing Garrison system. Instead of being faction-focused, the Order Halls will be class focused. Finally, the PVP system is being revamped with PvP-specific abilities.

No release date has been announced for World of Warcraft: Legion; however, sign-ups for beta are currently being accepted.

The app is designed for players 9 and older and is available on the App Store? and Google Play. Zoombinis will also come to Mac, Windows and Kindle Fire in the coming months.

Zoombinis is developed in conjunction with the world-class designers at FableVision Studios, an award-winning educational developer, along with Learning Games Network.

Stronghold Kingdoms iOS Coming Soon

Stronghold Kingdoms iOS Coming Soon

Strategy MMO to arrive on iPad and iPhone, followed by an all-new Stronghold title on PC

Firefly Studios has just announced Stronghold Kingdoms iOS at Gamescom 2015. Currently available for PC and Mac, the full game is now coming to iPad and iPhone with bespoke touchscreen controls and cross platform play with millions of existing Kingdoms players:

Announcement Trailerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aw66eqiBkI

“A recent GDC survey showed a significant swing toward PC development for mobile devs, this isn’t the case for Firefly. Smart devices are missing out on deeper strategy experiences like Stronghold Kingdoms and we see a gap for our unique style of hardcore strategy”, said Simon Bradbury, Creative Director at Firefly Studios. “We’re bringing Stronghold to mobile without any concessions. Kingdoms will be the full game on iPad and iPhone, with extra features like cross-platform play with PC and Mac users and a totally redesigned UI for touch control”.

Currently available for PC and Mac, Stronghold Kingdoms will be the first game of its kind on the App Store. A fully fledged strategy MMO featuring classic Stronghold gameplay in massive persistent game worlds, Kingdoms allows players to dominate whole countries if they choose to. Working as part of a Faction or House, each feudal Lord must expand their empire and specialise as a farmer, trader, diplomat or warlord using the in-game tech tree. Each player castle can be sieged in real time and every village raided for supplies, as players reach for the throne and domination of Europe.

Revealing more about the series’ long-term trajectory, Firefly also announced plans for a future entry in the Stronghold series on PC. Currently without an official title, the next traditional Stronghold game is planned as a standalone release intended to satisfy long-time fans. Keen to let followers of the series know that Stronghold has a future on both mobile and PC, Firefly is currently reaching out to players for their ideas and wish list requests for future titles.

Players can prepare for the upcoming iOS launch and start building their kingdom immediately, by downloading the game for free on PC or Mac:
