World of Warcraft: Legion Announced as Next Expansion Pack

world-of-warcraft-legion-promo-art-001

Blizzard brought out their big guns to gamescom 2015 this year, choosing the European show for the announcement of the next World of Warcraft expansion packWorld of Warcraft: Legion will bring players to The Broken Isles, where the demonic invasion lead by the Burning Legion threatens all of Azeroth. Classic heroes such as Maiev Shadowsong Illidan Stormrage are returning for this pack’s story arc.

The expansion pack will raise the level cap to 110 and introduce the Demon Hunter class. Only playable by Night Elves and Blood Elves, the Demon Hunters are blind, but highly mobile melee fighters that will serve as melee DPS and tanks. They can get into combat quickly, dodge attacks, and quickly flank with double jumps, vaults, and glides. When the situation calls for a little more punch, the Demon Hunter can use Metamorphosis to turn into their demonic form. Just don’t assume their blindness means they can’t see. In fact, Spectral Sight allows Demon Hunters to see better than other classes, allowing them to find hidden targets. Currently, only two specializations has been announced, Vengeance for tanking and Havoc for DPS.

Existing classes are getting some love too. Artifact weapons are being introduced for each class. These weapons have special abilities and traits that are unlocked based on player choices. Not much information on the Order Halls was made available, but it sounds like they will be World of Warcraft: Legion’s version of the existing Garrison system. Instead of being faction-focused, the Order Halls will be class focused. Finally, the PVP system is being revamped with PvP-specific abilities.

No release date has been announced for World of Warcraft: Legion; however, sign-ups for beta are currently being accepted.

Non-profit Educational Leader TERC Revives the Classic Logic Game

Boston, August 6, 2015 – Following the incredibly successful Kickstarter from earlier this year, TERC, a not-for-profit leader in K-12 math and science education, announced today the availability of the beloved educational game, Zoombinis, on iPad and Android tablets for $4.99. The app is designed for players 9 and older and is available on the App Store? and Google Play. Zoombinis will also come to Mac, Windows and Kindle Fire in the coming months.

Zoombinis is developed in conjunction with the world-class designers at FableVision Studios, an award-winning educational developer, along with Learning Games Network.

“Together we have recreated the Zoombinis adventure so that it can be shared with a whole new generation, in a touch screen format,” said David Libby, Director of Technology, TERC. “Zoombinis now has a more modern look and added gameplay refinements, complete with the timeless logic puzzles that children and adults first came to love in the ’90s.”

Numbering in the hundreds, the Zoombinis need your help. The small blue creatures, each with distinct personalities and appearances, are all imprisoned by the evil Bloats who took over their home – and you need to help them reach the safety of Zoombiniville. Using logic, data analysis, pattern finding and problem solving skills, children and adults will face a series of increasingly difficult challenges – 12 in total – set within entertaining environments such as Pizza Pass, Titanic Tattooed Toads and Mudball Wall. Help the Zoombinis travel in groups until all 400 of them are safe in Zoombiniville.

Stronghold Kingdoms iOS Coming Soon

Stronghold Kingdoms iOS Coming Soon

Strategy MMO to arrive on iPad and iPhone, followed by an all-new Stronghold title on PC

Firefly Studios has just announced Stronghold Kingdoms iOS at Gamescom 2015. Currently available for PC and Mac, the full game is now coming to iPad and iPhone with bespoke touchscreen controls and cross platform play with millions of existing Kingdoms players:

Announcement Trailerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aw66eqiBkI

“A recent GDC survey showed a significant swing toward PC development for mobile devs, this isn’t the case for Firefly. Smart devices are missing out on deeper strategy experiences like Stronghold Kingdoms and we see a gap for our unique style of hardcore strategy”, said Simon Bradbury, Creative Director at Firefly Studios. “We’re bringing Stronghold to mobile without any concessions. Kingdoms will be the full game on iPad and iPhone, with extra features like cross-platform play with PC and Mac users and a totally redesigned UI for touch control”.

Currently available for PC and Mac, Stronghold Kingdoms will be the first game of its kind on the App Store. A fully fledged strategy MMO featuring classic Stronghold gameplay in massive persistent game worlds, Kingdoms allows players to dominate whole countries if they choose to. Working as part of a Faction or House, each feudal Lord must expand their empire and specialise as a farmer, trader, diplomat or warlord using the in-game tech tree. Each player castle can be sieged in real time and every village raided for supplies, as players reach for the throne and domination of Europe.

Revealing more about the series’ long-term trajectory, Firefly also announced plans for a future entry in the Stronghold series on PC. Currently without an official title, the next traditional Stronghold game is planned as a standalone release intended to satisfy long-time fans. Keen to let followers of the series know that Stronghold has a future on both mobile and PC, Firefly is currently reaching out to players for their ideas and wish list requests for future titles.

Players can prepare for the upcoming iOS launch and start building their kingdom immediately, by downloading the game for free on PC or Mac:

KOEI TECMO HIGHLIGHTS THE BENEFITS OF DIPLOMACY IN NEWEST ASSETS FOR NOBUNAGA’S AMBITION: SPHERE OF INFLUENC

KOEI TECMO HIGHLIGHTS THE BENEFITS OF DIPLOMACY IN NEWEST ASSETS FOR NOBUNAGA’S AMBITION: SPHERE OF INFLUENCE

‘The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.’ – Sun Tzu, The Art of War

BURLINGAME, Calif. – August 6, 2015 KOEI TECMO America released today a wealth of new assets for upcoming famed strategy/historical simulation Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence, including a new trailer, which highlights the abundance of strategic options available to tacticians.

Using Diplomacy to improve foreign affairs is a key ingredient to building a powerful clan in Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence. Although it’s a slow-burning process that doesn’t provide the fast-paced, exhilarating action that battles do, Diplomacy can wield very fruitful results. For example, players can cultivate relationships with nearby clans and tribes to ensure they won’t take up arms or join enemy armies. Good diplomatic relationships with other lords can also lead to forging longer lasting alliances, or coalition armies against a common enemy. Prolonged good relationships might allow players to assimilate tribes into their clan, thus increasing the population and sphere of influence of their fief.

Additionally, diplomatic ties to the imperial court although costly can lead to an increase in rank through the award of nobility titles. These titles can be acquired on behalf of the clan lord or passed on by the lord to subordinate officers to increase their loyalty and provide a multitude of benefits, including an increase in influence and a decrease in cost for various diplomatic actions.

On the darker side of Diplomacy, players can assign officers to covert operations and espionage. These can include reconnaissance missions, or attempts to entice and create discontent amongst enemy officers. Keeping officer loyalty and satisfaction high is the only way to prevent NPC spies from leading officers away from the players’ clan and ensuring betrayal won’t hit from those closest to the top!

To view the all-new trailer for Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence, please visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnFNM8f18eg.

Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence is slated for release on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system across America on September 1, 2015. It will also be simultaneously available digitally on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and on PC via Steam®.

ABOUT NOBUNAGA’S AMBITION

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Nobunaga’s Ambition is one of the longest running franchises for KOEI TECMO Games, and during its lifetime the series has received high praise by an ever-growing fan base across an array of platforms.

The Nobunaga’s Ambition series is named after one of the most prominent and infamous figures of the Sengoku era (Warring States) of Japanese history, Nobunaga Oda, who fought to realise his dream of a united Japan and a new world. Though he fell before his dream was accomplished, he left behind a revolutionary legacy of castle towns, technological improvements, developing culture, modern warfare, a new system of economics, and much more.

Hailed as one of the best installments in the franchise’s history upon its release in Japan, the series’ latest chapter, Nobunaga’s Ambition: Sphere of Influence, is set against the backdrop of a fragmented nation. In this extremely intricate, deep, and meticulous strategy game, the player must take on the role of a Daimyo – a feudal lord of the Sengoku era (15th– 16th century Japan) – who will fight for the great ideal of uniting the war-ridden country under one rule, thus becoming the first Shogun.

In case you haven’t been paying attention to anime news in the West, FUNimation is currently holding a limited screening of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ in North America across a little more than 1,000 theaters. The film opened last night at 894 theaters and FUNimation has announced that Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ earned $1.97 million on the opening day of the theatrical event, placing the film as the 8th highest anime opening of all time and the first time a limited event-style theatrical release has broken into the top 10 of overall box office gross.

The film will continue to be shown in various theaters until August 12th and Michael Duboise, the EVP and COO of FUNimation had the following to say about the film’s success:
