dengeki-bunko-fighting-climax-eng-screenshot- (1)

Sega surprised many in the West when they announced their plans to localize Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax, a fighting game featuring some of the most iconic characters taken from light novels published by Dengeki Bunko, and now that we have a set release date for the game, they have released the first in what appears to be a series of trailers to meant to show off what most of these characters will be capable of.

This first trailer introduces Asuna, Kuroyukihime, Tomoka Minato, and Shizuo Heiwajima and you can read more details about each character below:

  • Asuna (Sword Art Online) – The sub-leader of the Knights of the Blood,
the strongest guild in Aincrad. Her nickname is “The Flash” due to her speed with her rapier, Lambent Light. Kirito is her boyfriend.
  • Kuroyukihime (Accel World) – The Umezato Jr. High student council V.P. She’s nicknamed Kuroyukihime, or “Snow Black,” because of her beauty. Her Brain Burst avatar is Black Lotus and she is Legion Master of the Nega Nebulas.
  • Shizuo Heiwajima (Durarara!!) – A debt collector who dresses like a bartender. He hates violence, but when he loses his temper, he’s the strongest man in Ikebukuro. Flying vending machines are a clue that he’s around.
  • Tomoka Minato (Ro-Kyu-Bu!) – A basketball ace at Keishin Academy. Her mother does traditional dance and her father is a tea master, so her manners are impeccable. But when she starts to play basketball…

Disgaea 5’s New Features Detailed and Season Pass Announced

disgaea-5-eng-screenshot- (16)

The Disgaea franchise has always had plenty of different mechanics to work with both inside and outside of combat and now with the upcoming release of Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance even more systems have been added to the game. In order to try and explain some of these new details and features NIS America‘s Tiffany Chin explained most of these mechanics as well as the company’s DLC plans for Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance over on the PlayStation Blog and you can read the pertinent details below:

Curry Shop over

The Curry Shop is a new facility on the base where you can create different types of curries, which will give the squad temporary effects that last about one battle. Most of these recipes will give boosts in stats, but not all are good! Some can have a negative effect and are even poisonous!

Nether Research Squad

When your squad isn’t out fighting the good fight, you can deploy some of your recruits to explore the other Netherworlds through the Nether Research Squad. While they’re off researching the Netherworlds, they’ll be unlocking new worlds to visit, finding rare items in other worlds to bring back, and gaining experience for your squad members as they’re off exploring.

Netherworld Editor

These new Netherworlds will sometimes have special world effects, such as Icic-Hell’s snowy world that lowers all characters’ fire resistance. But don’t fret — you can override these Netherworld effects with the Netherworld Editor! This new feature allows you to create new Netherworlds for other people to encounter and play, and if one of the worlds is summoned while you’re in a map, the summoned Netherworld effects will override the effects of the current world.

Alchemy

With the new Alchemist feature, you can have items created for you while you’re off to battle! Create a brand new item and add Innocents to power up each copy. Don’t have enough innocents for your plentiful supply of items? The Innocent Shop can help with that; this shop acts like a warehouse to hold all your precious Innocents while breeding new ones at the Innocent Farm out back. Sometimes if you leave two Innocents alone together at the Innocent Farm, a third will appear with more rare and powerful effects!

Downloadable Content

NIS America will be releasing 5 batches of DLC which allow you to encounter the characters from Disgaea 3, Disgaea 4, and Disgaea D2 in various Netherworlds, as well as other games like La Pucelle! There will also be a season pass available and if you get all the DLC, you’ll unlock Pleinair as a playable character for free!

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance is set to be released in North America on October 6th and on October 9th in Europe and to go alongside these extra details, NIS America has released English character trailers for Killia and Seraphina and you can check those out below.

Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butoden Demo Out Now

2015-08-07 15_57_31-▶ Dragon Ball Z_ Extreme Butoden - 3DS - Start Fighting! - YouTube

The demo for Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden for Nintendo 3DS is available for download now on the Nintendo eShop across all regions! The demo has 30 uses, more than enough time for yourself to get accustomed to the game and how it plays which is essentially a Dragon Ball Z skinned sprite fighter not unlike the BlazBlue or Guilty Gear series.

The demo includes:
– 2 playable modes: Battle and Versus (2 players in Local)
– 4 playable characters: Goku, Gohan (Kid), Vegeta & Majin Buu
– 8 Z-Assists characters: Korin, Great Saiyaman, Hercule, Recoome, Tien, Turtle, Mercenary Tao & Majuub
– 5 stages: Rocky Area, Urban Area, World Tournament Arena, Planet Namek & King Kai’s Planet

extreme-butoden-screenshot-01

The official Dragon Ball Games Facebook page has noted if the demo receives 10,000 downloads then another character will be made available to play as via a code relayed through their social networking streams (my moneys on Frieza). Fans of the old SuperSonic Warriors Dragon Ball titles will no doubt feel right at home as this game has more than some inspiration from the old GBA and DS titles. While the demo is obviously withholding features, the full game will have a story mode and over 20 playable characters and 80 Z-assists characters.

While I am a huge Dragon Ball fan I have never been a fan of trying to fit the franchise into a typical 2D fighting game structure but Arc-System-Works efforts here are definitely impressive. Let us know what you think of the demo in the comments below. Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden releases exclusively on the Nintendo 3DS on the 16th of October. Those in Europe can also purchase a New 3DS Extreme Butoden bundle that contains exclusive faceplates for the New 3DS based around the game.

2K and Gearbox Announce Battleborn™ Coming February 9, 2016

New trailer reveals hero-shooter’s four new playable characters at Gamescom

Join the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #Battleborn

Sydney, Australia – August 7, 2015 2K and Gearbox Software today announced that Battleborn™, the new first-person shooter from the creators of Borderlands, will be available worldwide on February 9, 2016 for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, and Windows PC. An open beta will be held prior to the release of the game and more details about the public test will be shared later this year. Additionally, today the companies revealed four new playable heroes at Gamescom, including Ambra, Mellka, Reyna, and Benedict.

Set in the distant future, Battleborn is a first-person shooter featuring 25 unique playable heroes who form an unlikely alliance to save the last star in the universe from a mysterious enemy hell-bent on its destruction. Battleborn’s narrative-driven story mode can be played alone or co-operatively by up to five friends splitscreen* and online. The game’s three different competitive multiplayer modes can be played by up to 10 players online in action-packed 5v5 matches. Regardless of the mode being played, players will experience deep and customizable character growth for all 25 playable heroes.

The four new playable heroes revealed today include:

  • Ambra: Born into an ancient order of priestesses responsible for discovering a way to prolong life indefinitely, Ambra was betrayed by her leader and her faction, the Jennerit Empire, and now fights alongside the Battleborn. She is a specialist hero, dealing damage up close through her melee attacks and powerful abilities, while healing her allies in the process.
  • Mellka: A stealthy assassin, Mellka lost her parents at a young age before eventually earning her place among the Eldrid’s black op’s and intelligence bureau. Her life has been defined by a series of staggering losses, but her response to these losses was never despair – it was fury. She strikes quickly, disorienting foes with her nerve gas machine pistol and bio-glaive melee attacks.
  • Reyna: Known by her followers as “The Valkyrie,” Reyna was born aboard the Rogue faction’s ailing junk heap of a flagship and is a native to the last star system. Reyna has fought tirelessly for the freedom of her space pirate comrades, finding her calling as their inspirational leader. She dishes damage with her laser pistol and uses her command glove to support her teammates.
  • Benedict: August Benedict Jr. is one of several surviving races of bird-like “Aviant” refugees. He swore allegiance to the Peacekeepers where he’s gained considerable notoriety for being a self-centered jerk that’s capable of astounding destruction with his rocket launcher. Double jumping, rocket jumping, and flying – Benedict’s good at all of them and he lets his teammates know it.

For in-depth information on each of the new playable heroes, including their complete backstories and full list of abilities, visit the official Battleborn blog. Battleborn is not yet rated in Australia or New Zealand.
