Jackbox Games Releases The Jackbox Party Pack 2

Jackbox Games Releases The Jackbox Party Pack 2

YOU DON’T KNOW JACK® Studio’s Sequel to the Ultimate Game Night Bundle Features Five New Titles

CHICAGO – Oct. 13, 2015 – Jackbox Games, the independent developer of YOU DON’T KNOW JACK®, has launched The Jackbox Party Pack 2, a rib-tickling collection of competitive local multiplayer party games. Like its predecessor, last year’s The Jackbox Party Pack, everything in this bundle can be played using a phone, tablet or computer as a controller through Jackbox.tv, and only one user needs to own the game for all to participate. In addition, some titles in the pack allow an audience of up to 10,000 spectators to participate and affect each match via online live stream.

Five hilariously irreverent new games make up The Jackbox Party Pack 2, three of which are completely original. Bidiots (3-6 players) is an absurd art auction game where players draw masterpieces on their touchscreens. Earwax (3-8 players) challenges party-goers to match quirky prompts with the best sound effects from their personal stashes. And Bomb Corp. (1-4 players) is a nail-biting competition to try to avoid being exploded into bits.

The Jackbox Party Pack 2 also includes two massive updates on fan-favorite Jackbox hits. Fibbage 2 (2-8 players), the sequel to the massively popular bluffing game, features over 500 questions, more than twice the content found in Fibbage. Quiplash XL (3-8 players) is a supersized bundle of everything from the original Quiplash and the first Quip Pack, plus over 100 entirely new say-anything prompts.

Moreover, The Jackbox Party Pack 2 delivers a number of enhancements on its predecessor. Audience play mechanics let spectators play along and even influence the outcomes of certain games, including Fibbage 2, Quiplash XL and Earwax. Many of the titles included in the collection have timers that can be extended to make it easier for participants to play together remotely on live streams. Jackbox has also introduced a family filter for those who wish to dial down the pack’s most provocative content.

The Jackbox Party Pack 2 arrives today as a digital release on the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems via the PlayStation®Store, Xbox One through the Xbox Games Store, and Windows and Mac via Steam for $24.99. It is also available on the Apple Mac App Store, Amazon Fire TV and Google’s Android TV. This product is rated T (Teen) by the ESRB. The titles within this pack are accessible in English only. For the latest from Jackbox Games, please visit www.jackboxgames.com, and follow the studio on Facebook, Twitter and Twitch.

About MINIONS

The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s MINIONS begins at the dawn of time.  Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters.  Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters—from T. rex to Napoleon—the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression.

But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he—alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob—ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.

The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award® winner Sandra Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain.  They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind…from annihilation.

Featuring a soundtrack of hit music from the ’60s that still permeates our culture today, Minions is produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda.  Brian Lynch has written the screenplay for the 3D-CG comedy adventure, and Chris Renaud serves as executive producer of the film.  www.minionsmovie.com

DUNGEON DEFENDERS II GOES FREE-TO-PLAY ON PC

DUNGEON DEFENDERS II GOES FREE-TO-PLAY ON PC

Trendy Entertainment’s Action-Tower Defense Game Hits Open Alpha Development Milestone on Steam Early Access

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Oct. 13, 2015 – Trendy Entertainment has announced that Dungeon Defenders II, its action-tower defense game, is now available as a free-to-play open alpha on PC via Steam Early Access.

Open alpha arrives on PC on the heels of last week’s new “Ascension” patch, which plays with Dungeon Defenders II in some fun ways. Towers are now bigger and stronger, and enemies have been rebalanced to match the challenge. In addition, weapons are more powerful and feature new variations in attack patterns and speed to fit players’ individual tastes. Player choice is supported even further by the introduction of the Stat Allocation System, allowing players to choose where to place stat points as they level up. “Ascension” also includes a new Huntress build, costumes and more.

But that’s only Part One! Part Two of the “Ascension” update, expected for release on Oct. 27, will roll out two new holiday-themed maps and a fresh Incursion, as well as new minibosses, hero builds, and spooky costumes, among other improvements.

Dungeon Defenders II is a third-person action-strategy game featuring classic role-playing elements like loot, leveling, pets and more. Players must build the ultimate champions and tactical defenses to protect the magical realm of Etheria from the invading waves of the Old Ones’ armies. The game advances the original Dungeon Defenders experience with new combat systems and abilities, supporting modes for single-player and four-person online cooperative multiplayer.

Dungeon Defenders II entered Steam Early Access late last year, and feedback from players has been instrumental in evolving the game since then. Today’s move to a free open alpha on Steam is the next step in Trendy Entertainment’s ultimate goal: officially launching Dungeon Defenders II as a free-to-play title supported by ethical in-game microtransactions on PlayStation®4, PC, Mac and Linux.

PC players who join Dungeon Defenders II during open alpha and beyond can purchase currency packs on Steam in order to obtain special cosmetic items and more. Open alpha marks the end of full wipes for player progression, though limited resets and/or rerolls may arise based on continuing developments to the game. For more information as the title develops, please visit www.DungeonDefenders.com, and follow www.facebook.com/DungeonDefenders and www.twitter.com/TrendyEnt.

OtherSide Entertainment Reveals First Prototype with a New Video, and Details on this Ultima™ Underworld Sequel

CONCORD, MASS – October 13, 2015 – In the wake of a successful Kickstarter campaign last spring, former Looking Glass co-founder Paul Neurath and his development studio OtherSide Entertainment have revealed the first in-game Prototype of the fantasy RPG Underworld Ascendant, the sequel to the landmark series, Ultima Underworld.

Watch the Prototype on YouTube HERE: youtu.be/edMlwffFfXk

A rogue’s view of the dwarven magic controlling the flow of lava in the Stygian Abyss’ Volcanic core.

In 1992, Ultima Underworld changed the rules of what a fantasy RPG could be. It introduced the concept of 3D immersion, a player-authored experience, and an open-world to explore. The game is considered one of the most innovative and renowned RPGs of its generation.

Now the game’s original creators, who founded Looking Glass Studios, and also designed the classics System Shock and Thief, are bringing the franchise forward with the next-generation sequel, Underworld Ascendant.  It not only modernizes the series’ visuals and user interface to take full advantage of the today’s powerful PCs, it innovates in bold new ways.

This new video captures actual gameplay footage of an early slice of Underworld Ascendant’s dark and fantastic Stygian Abyss, where a rogue steals a dwarven artifact that’s magically controlling the volcanic flow into the dwarf’s metallurgic works. Upon stealing it, the unarmed rogue is confronted by a powerful Shadow Beast guardian, who forces her to find resourceful means to elude and defeat it using light and darkness. This Prototype video shows only one possible scenario from a wealth of options provided by the game’s Improvisation Engine, a suite of technologies that gives players the choice author their own play styles through the game.

“We want to immerse players into a fantasy world steeped in choices, where they can author their own way through the true role-playing experience,” said Paul Neurath, founder and CEO of OtherSide Entertainment. “This video shows an early snapshot of the progress we’ve made since the Kickstarter, focused on just one aspect of gameplay, where the Shadow Beast and player are entwind in a deadly dance of light and darkness. We’ll be showing much more in the months to come.”

Key Features in Underground Ascendant Include:

  • Exquisitely Realized Underworld. Plunder ancient temples, navigate subterranean rivers, gaze in wonder at the masterwork of jade dwarven halls, scale plunging ice caverns, trek through enchanted forests of giant mushrooms, dare shadowy tombs of the undead, and much more.
  • Myriad of Creatures to Encounter.  Face monstrous creatures like the ripper, a vicious, ambulatory plant whose bark is prized by The Stygian Abyss’ intelligent races; stay clear of mass migrations of ravenous rotworms; dodge the giant spider’s sticky webs it casts through the air.
  • Epic Narrative.  Play as The Avatar, a human newly arrived from our earth through a mystical Runegate.   Entangle yourself in a tale of intrigue and conflict as three fierce, rival factions struggle for control. Your choices will determine the ultimate fate of The Stygian Abyss. Tracy Hickman, the NYT best-selling fantasy author, will extend the narrative with an Underworld novel.
  • Dynamic Factions.  Three rival factions vie for dominance in struggles that ebb and flow across The Stygian Abyss.  Dark Elves with their potent magic, the mysterious shambler “mushroom people” performing arcane rituals, dwarves producing the finest arms and armor.
