STARDOCK RELEASES BETA 1 OF ITS MASSIVE-SCALE REAL-TIME STRATEGY GAME, ASHES OF THE SINGULARITY

STARDOCK RELEASES BETA 1 OF ITS MASSIVE-SCALE REAL-TIME STRATEGY GAME, ASHES OF THE SINGULARITY

First Public Beta Includes Two Playable Races, Multi-Core Single Player AI, Ranked Multiplayer Play

Plymouth, MI. – January 28, 2016 – Stardock, the company that brought players Sins of a Solar Empire, released the first public beta of Ashes of the Singularity today. This new real-time strategy game, which features the first ever native DirectX 12 support, aims to deliver planetary warfare on a scale never seen before in gaming.

“In Ashes of the Singularity, gamers aren’t fighting a battle, they’re fighting a war,” said Brad Wardell, President & CEO of Stardock. “Players command thousands of units across a vast battlefield while building up their economic and technological might.”

The public beta for Ashes of the Singularity allows players to command their forces in a war that has spread across much of the galaxy in the 23rd century. Players have a choice of playing either the descendants of humanity, the Post-Human Coalition, or their bitter enemy, the Substrate.

“Over the past few months we’ve worked closely with AMD and Nvidia to fully leverage their hardware,” said Wardell. “Our alpha testers have reported substantial performance gains, which is allowing us to begin lowering the hardware requirements.”

Ashes of the Singularity has some notable features, including:

  • The first native DirectX 12 game allowing each CPU core to command the player’s GPU simultaneously, which allows for more rendered units to be displayed on screen at the same time – by an order of magnitude – than in any previous RTS game to date.
  • A multi-core, real-time strategy AI that allows for excellent single player RTS gaming.
  • A new native 64-bit 3D engine called Nitrous that makes full use of the features of DirectX 11 and DirectX 12, allowing for thousands of light sources on screen simultaneously.
  • A new type of unit group organization known as a “meta” unit that makes it easy for players to manage potentially tens of thousands of units across a world.
  • Advanced Nitrous 3D engine allows players to zoom out on the map without having to transform the map into a simplified view of the battlefield.

“Our goal with Ashes of the Singularity is to help introduce a new generation of gamers to real-time strategy games,” said Wardell. “We want to make a game where players can invite their friends in and be up and playing relatively quickly without a lengthy explanation about how to play.”

To that end, the mechanics of Ashes of the Singularity are relatively straight-forward to learn: metal and radioactives that are spread across the planet are captured by players and used to build up armies, research new technologies, and develop a powerful economy. From there, players formulate complex strategies to defeat their opponents.

Beta 1 is now available in Early Access on both Steam and GOG. It includes single player skirmish, co-op multiplayer, and ranked multiplayer.

Next month, Stardock expects to release Beta 2, which will include multi-GPU support (including mixing AMD and Nvidia cards together), along with a new 3D benchmark mode. The final release is due out this Spring.

GAME Bringing Mew to Pokemon in the United Kingdom

mew-pokemon-01

Now you can catch what was once the most coveted member of any Pokedex on your modern version of the classic games. Mew is coming to Pokemon X, Y, Ruby, and Sapphire for all of this year via an event, cementing the magnitude of the 20th Anniversary of Pokemon.

Here are the details:

Owners of Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X or Pokémon Y for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems can head into a local shop and collect Mew, the very first of the Mythical Pokémon!

Mew is said to possess the genetic composition of all Pokémon. It is capable of making itself invisible at will, so it entirely avoids notice even if it approaches people.

·         LEVEL: 100
·         TYPE: Psychic
·         ABILITY: Synchronize
·         MOVE: Pound

Mew’s appearance at GAME Digital PLC will take place from 1–28 February, and is timed to coincide with the release of the Pokémon TCG: Mythical Pokémon Collection—Mew scheduled to launch on 22 February. This is the first of the Mythical Pokémon Collections designed to celebrate Pokémon’s milestone year. It includes a special Mew promo card and a pin of the Mythical Pokémon, plus two Pokémon TCG: Generations booster packs and a code to unlock the cards in the Pokémon TCG Online.

151 used to mean something big, and I am loving this celebration thus far. Expect to see more hitting the 3DS soon on the Pokefront.

WWE 2K16’s Future Stars Pack Featuring Samoa Joe and More Now Available

los-matadores-screenshot-01

Well, here is some good news for those of you who have been wanting some new WWE Superstars to download during your downtime for 2K16. 2K Games have released the next batch of DLC labeled the “Future Stars Pack”, including the likes of Samoa Joe, Blake, Murphy and Los Matadores (Diego & Fernando).

Its a decent little pack, but we knew about these downloaded characters before launch. Of course if you bought the Season Pass, you can download right now without any worry. I must say – if 2K did like Smash Bros. with WWE titles and release DLC a bit fresher, like having recent roster additions such as AJ Styles – well, it would probably be a much better reason to invest overall as these five superstars are not the most relevant group out there. Either way, download and enjoy your Matadores.

ARK: SURVIVAL EVOLVED SPEEDS TO SAFETY WITH THREE-SEATER DINO GALLIMIMUS AND NEW ITEMS

ARK: SURVIVAL EVOLVED SPEEDS TO SAFETY WITH THREE-SEATER DINO GALLIMIMUS AND NEW ITEMS

New Steam Updates Add Swat-style Armor, Greenhouse Tileset and Electric Prod Stunner

SEATTLE, WA – Thursday, January 28 – Studio Wildcard, the studio that never sleeps, has muscled through another significant update for survival-adventure ARK: Survival Evolved, delivering a wealth of new content for Steam players featuring the speedy new herbivore Gallimimus, the shockingly satisfying Electric Prod Stunner weapon, and much more. Haven’t checked out the game yet? ARK is 40% off the full retail price during the Humble Bundle winter sale, so hurry there now!

Watch the ARK Gallimimus Spotlight video on YouTube HERE: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpeU8O4OkPw

Useless to some, an escape artist to others, the Gallimimus is definitely fast!

While the Gallimimus in real life might have been a large, chicken-like omnivore belonging to the clade Ornithomimosauria (similar to today’s ostrich family and closely related to raptors and modern birds), in ARK: Survival Evolved it’s an herbivore with no natural means to defend itself except for running away. Luckily for the Gallimimus, it may very well be the fastest dinosaur on ARK, and is capable of ferrying up to three Survivors in a specially-designed Saddle!

ARK Survivors are likely split between loving and hating the speedy bird-like dino. Pro Gallimimus fans will love it because it is the only dino that can wear a three-seat passenger saddle, it can be tamed, and its extreme speed and ability to jump long distances is among the best for scouting and exploring…or making a quick getaway. Anti Gallimimus Survivors believe its inability to harm predators or to harvest resources places it in a category of uselessness and as a tribe burden. The Gallimimus is extremely skittish, looking nervous even when eating in a peaceful clear meadow.

Today’s update also includes a battery of items and optimizations including:

  • New Armor: SWAT-style Assault Armor tier
  • New Weapon: Electric Prod stunner weapon
  • New Structures: Greenhouse/Glass tileset with plant-growing benefits
  • Better Save/Load: Improved save-game save-and-load times
  • Name Tags: Added new special name tags and custom hat skins for: Wildcard Admin Team, Wildcard Non-Admin Team, Authorized External Testers, and Dev Kit Masters. Get yours by joining the crew, apply here! (Users need to be signed in to apply.)

That’s going to leave a mark!

ARK: Survival Evolved will launch in summer 2016 on Xbox One via the ID@Xbox program, PlayStation®4 with Project Morpheus support, and full release on Steam PC. The game is currently playable in Microsoft’s Game Preview on Xbox One and Steam’s Early Access program, which includes Oculus Rift VR support and an integration of Steam community features such as Steam Economy and Steam Workshop for custom maps and mods. Players can host private/LAN servers and have access to a custom-built version of the Unreal Engine 4 Editor for creating mods. The world of ARK is designed to be modder-friendly and ever-expanding!
