EPIC OPEN-WORLD FANTASY RPG CORNERSTONE: THE SONG OF TYRIM™ IS AVAILABLE NOW

Crafting, Combat, Sailing, Physics-Based Puzzles and More for $19.99 on PC, Mac, and Linux

Boston, MA – April 26th, 2016 – Phoenix Online Publishing and Overflow Games are excited to announce today’s release of epic action RPG Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim for PC, Mac, and Linux! Starting as a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2013, this sweeping fantasy tale in which combat, crafting, and physics-based puzzle-solving collide has already been praised as “an excellent action-adventure game” and “a breath of fresh air in the industry.” As young Viking Tyrim, players will take on a range of wondrous quests, battle unforgettable adversaries, and experience the adventure of a lifetime in Nygard, a legendary world of wonder bursting with colorful characters, playable vehicles, and open-world adventures. Featuring a complete crafting system that lets you build your own weapons and gear, playable vehicles ranging from ships to windsurfers, and dozens of quirky characters to interact with as you explore eight exotic islands filled with tricks, traps, and treasures, Cornerstone is now available on the Phoenix Online Store (store.postudios.com), Steam, GOG.com, the Humble Store, and other major online retailers for $19.99.

The Viking men of the village of Borja haven’t been seen in weeks, and Tyrim is determined to set forth and find them: An objective that will send him sneaking deep into the heart of enemy fortresses, combing dank dungeons on a hunt for lost artifacts, and actively taking the fight to the forces of evil as he pursues an increasingly inventive range of quests. Wielding the young warrior’s crafting and combat skills, you’ll set sail on trusty galleon the Mad Goat across the seas to uncover the world of Nygard’s mysteries, collecting fabulous relics, uncovering forbidden secrets and magic, and ultimately challenging a powerful ancient evil as you quest to bring the Vikings home.

“Developing this game has been such an amazing journey. Lots and lots of hard work, long days, late nights, many laughs and even a bit of frustration. We have probably developed as much as Tyrim has since the very start of this project!” says Jonathan Prytz, Lead Game Designer and Artist. “We have to thank our Kickstarter backers for believing in this game two and a half years ago and we hope to make them proud with all that we accomplished today! Finally the release is here and we’re super excited!”

“After three years of incorporating community feedback and continuously making improvements, we’re thrilled to finally bring Rocketbirds 2 to players globally,” said Rocketbirds creator, Sian Yue Tan. “It’s loaded with new content and modes to provide a robust gaming experience for our fans while enhancing the level of depth and replay value.”

Picking up where the cinematic adventure Hardboiled Chicken left off, Rocketbirds 2: Evolution puts players into the feathery feet of Hardboiled, the tough-as-nails, plucky chicken super-agent. The evil megalomaniacal despot Putzki, who wants nothing more than to bend the world to his wing, is still alive, and his evil plans force Hardboiled to hunt him down and eliminate him once and for all. Players will engage in nuanced side-scrolling shooter action as they face an assortment of evil penguins, space owls, and other foul creatures while strapping on jetpacks and wielding new, powerful weapons of ‘de-clucktion.’ Adding to the game’s deep single-player story mode is a 1 – 4 player rescue mode with a unique story of its own!

Key features of Rocketbirds 2: Evolution include:

  • Improved Controls: New and improved controls provide super responsive and fluid gameplay, plus an upgraded combat system where gamers can run, aim, jump and shoot – all at the same time.
  • New Game Modes: Two new game modes, Story Mode and Rescue Mode
    • Story Mode: In story mode, Hardboiled finds out Putzki is still alive and seeks to eliminate him once and for all. Along the way, Hardboiled realizes the Trans-dimensional Space Owls are behind it all and needs to re-assess who his enemies really are.
    • Rescue Mode: Assemble a strike force of great magnitude and drop-in to a game of (up to four player) online/offline Rescue Mode, a meta collection game that takes place in up to four completely different, procedurally generated locations. Gear up, Rescue and Recruit over 16 hostages to fight the Penguin Regime. Prefer to play alone? You can do that too, but we recommend you Rent-A-Duck mercenary for additional “feather-power” support. And get ready to ruffle feathers in the Dojo, where players can go head-to-head in intense firefights.
  • Cross-Buy/Cross-Save: Ratloop’s sequel is a great package deal – Players buy the game for one price and own it on both the PS4 and PS Vita, with the ability to play and save on both systems.
  • Distinctly Fowl: Featuring a chicken assassin, evil penguin, space owls and more the game is fused with hilarious voice-over moments making it a truly unique and ‘organic’ chicken shooter.
  • Unlockables and Easter Eggs: Discover loot locations throughout Rescue Mode to unlock 100+ weapons and costumes, money to buy ammo, better weapons, or rent-a-duck for combat support.

The Rocketbirds 2: Evolution soundtrack is available on iTunes, Amazon and all other major outlets. On Bandcamp, fans can find a special “Extended Edition” of the album, featuring extended versions of the songs, plus a free download of the 27-track Original Score album.

KOEI TECMO EUROPE LAUNCHES HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ALPHA DEMO FOR DARK FANTASY ACTION GAME NIOH, EXCLUSIVELY ON PLAYSTATION®4

KOEI TECMO EUROPE LAUNCHES HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ALPHA DEMO FOR DARK FANTASY ACTION GAME NIOH, EXCLUSIVELY ON PLAYSTATION®4

Brutal, Samurai Action RPG Available to Try from 26th April to 5th May; Exclusive ‘The Mark of the Conqueror’ DLC for Final Game to be Awarded to Players Who Complete a Stage

Hertfordshire, 26th April 2016—KOEI TECMO Europe today announced the launch of the highly anticipated Alpha Demo for its dark, samurai action RPG, Nioh. Developed exclusively for release on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, this limited-time demo is only available to play and download via the PlayStation®Store from today until the 5th of May. On the 6th of May, players will no longer be able to download or access the Alpha Demo for Nioh.

Between 26th April and 5th May, gamers have a rare chance to experience the dark setting and intense samurai combat of Nioh via access to two diverse stages. Upon coming ashore a small island near the village of Usuki, in the first stage the player encounters the remains of a fishing village set aflame by a mysterious invasion. In the following stage, demonic beings from the Yokai realm run rampant in Dazaifu, which has controlled western regions since ancient times.

Throughout the demo, the player will be challenged in a unique way guaranteed to heighten their sense of accomplishment. To overcome the brutal foes that lie in wait, players are able to test out three close-combat weapon classes—the spear, axe, and the trusty katana—allowing them to find the armament that best suits their play style. A symbol of the samurai, the katana excels in attacking and defensive manoeuvres, and allows for powerful and varied special moves. The spear—the weapon of choice on the battlefields of Japanese civil wars—not only allows for a variety of long-range thrust attacks, but can also knock down surrounding enemies. And while the massive weight and long handle of the axe may be difficult to wield, the damage caused is greater that of any other weapon.

All players who complete a stage of the demo will be rewarded with ‘The Mark of the Conqueror’ DLC from the PlayStation®Store, which will contain exclusive in-game content for Nioh at launch. In addition, an online survey will be launched after the demo is released on Tuesday, 26th April, where players are welcomed and encouraged to leave their feedback on the game. An original wallpaper for smartphones will be available exclusively to those who complete the survey to thank them for their time. Players can access the survey here: http://www.gamecity.ne.jp/form/nioh_uk

In Nioh, players will traverse war-torn Japan as William, a blonde-haired swordsman whose background as a fierce warrior and seasoned knowledge of the blade allows him to survive in the demon-plagued land of the samurai. Players will also face off with other samurai in supernatural sword battles and intense, multi-target engagements offering a level of difficulty that will truly test even the most hardened samurai’s skills, patience, and strategy. Under the direction of Kou Shibusawa, Hisashi Koinuma, and the team that defined brutal action games, Team NINJA, Nioh is being created—as Kou Shibusawa put it—“with the entire power of Koei Tecmo,” and is guaranteed to challenge players in a way that makes every mission and accomplishment feel earned and worthwhile.

The demo, available to download now, can be found on the PlayStation Store here.

More information on Nioh and its beautifully unique universe will be released in the coming months. Master of Orion Early Access 3 Detects New Lifeforms

Master of Orion Early Access 3 Detects New Lifeforms

The Darloks emerge from the shadows, the Silicoids ready for war, and an army of Spies is poised to strike

April 26, 2016 — Two new races are looking to shake up the galaxy in the next round of Early Access for Master of Orion: the Darloks and the Silicoids. These newcomers aren’t arriving empty handed either; they’re bringing the ways of Espionage with them, revealing Independent Planets, as well as granting a new victory condition: Economic. Along with Windows and Mac OS X, Master of Orion is also now available on Linux and Steam OS.

The arrival of the Darloks and the Silicoids means that NGD Studios has assembled the 10 original races from the first Master of Orion. Joined by the Terran, who are only available in the Master of Orion Collector’s Edition, 11 races are all ready to conquer the stars.

The conniving and sneaky Darloks are master spies, trusted by none in the galaxy. Using their superior Espionage skills, you can hoard information, cripple industry and research, steal technology, contaminate food—havoc is the name of the Darloks’ game. However, all races have access to Espionage, so anyone can wage war in the shadows.

The Silicoids may look like hulking stone goliaths, but they are by no means as dumb as a bunch of rocks. They are skillful engineers, trained in capturing colonies and amassing a large fleet. Slow to grow as a population, the Silicoids have an ultra-rich home world brimming with rare minerals that, in the right hands, can send your campaign into overdrive.

The new victory condition “Economic” is for bringing out the tycoon in you. You can corner the galactic market on the Interstellar Stock Exchange to win the game. Just think of how a few Spies will come in handy here—sabotage a structure or make the populace go on strike to stop enemies building up their economy, letting you get ahead. You can also track your economic progress against other players and purchase shares in universe productivity as investments, or to win the game.

Races on Independent Planets have decided forge a life for themselves, away from the rule of larger civilizations. Unlike you and your adversaries, they have no ambitions of expanding in interstellar space. So why are they useful? Independent Planets could hold the key to victory. You can complete missions for them, such as fending off hostiles, and donate credits to get them on your side. Plus, these planets are part of the Galactic Council, and their vote can be critical in achieving a Diplomatic victory.

The NGD Studios crew has been hard at work listening to player feedback and improving the game experience. There are new advanced gameplay settings, a revised technology tree, an integrated tutorial, and lots of bug fixes. This doesn’t mean feedback has to stop; the team still need your help in taking Master of Orion out of this world.

EXPERIENCE A NEW WAY TO ENJOY amiibo FIGURES WITH MINI MARIO & FRIENDS: amiibo CHALLENGE, COMING APRIL 29

EXPERIENCE A NEW WAY TO ENJOY amiibo FIGURES WITH MINI MARIO & FRIENDS: amiibo CHALLENGE, COMING APRIL 29

Free download for Nintendo 3DS family systems and Wii U allows you to play a range of puzzles with any amiibo figure

26th April 2016 – amiibo owners in Australia and New Zealand will soon have a brand new way to enjoy Nintendo’s toys-to-life series, as puzzle game Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge arrives on Nintendo 3DS family systems and Wii U as a free download from Nintendo eShop on April 29.

First released in November 2014, amiibo are interactive figures based on Nintendo characters that let players access new content and experiences in compatible Nintendo games. Using an amiibo with compatible software is easy: just tap it to the Wii U GamePad, the NFC area on New Nintendo 3DS or New Nintendo 3DS XL systems, or by using the Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader/Writer accessory for Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 2DS and Nintendo 3DS XL systems. With over 90 amiibo figures to collect and more than 25 compatible Nintendo 3DS and Wii U games in Australia and New Zealand, there are plenty of ways make the most of amiibo.

Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge, the latest title in the long-running puzzle series that began as Mario vs. Donkey Kong, is only playable through the use of amiibo figures. Players use the touch screen to guide a Mini Toy to the goal door in each stage by moving girders and changing the toy’s direction to make sure it avoids enemies, spikes, Thwomps, and any other perils that could put a stop to the march of the Minis.

While any amiibo figure can be used to play through the game, amiibo figures of certain Mario series characters will each open up a Mini Toy of that character for players to control. Would-be puzzle solvers must then make use of that character’s special abilities to reach the specific amiibo door and gain access to additional special levels. As well as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, and Donkey Kong, extra challenges can be accessed by scanning in amiibo of Rosalina, Diddy Kong, Bowser, Bowser Jr. and Yoshi, all of whom are making their first appearance in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series.

Each of these Mini characters has his or her own special ability: eat enemies as Yoshi, travel across treacherous terrain with Bowser Jr.’s Spike Guard, or lift off with Rosalina’s Lunar Launch. Using these abilities can change the way that some puzzles can be solved, and also provides fresh approaches to the standard stages, including the chance to grab their character-exclusive tokens, which help unlock the ultimate challenges in the Star World.

Experience a new way to enjoy amiibo when Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge launches as a free download for Nintendo 3DS systems and Wii U on April 29.

John Romero and Adrian Carmack’s Newest Project Blackroom Hits Kickstarter

blackroom-logo-001

id Software (Doom) co-founders John Romero and Adrian Carmack are returning to FPS games with a brand new project. Blackroom is a new FPS inspired by classic arena FPS games of yesteryear. The new title is built on Unreal Engine 4 with full mod support. The gunplay will be fast paced with a heavy emphasis on accuracy and skill-based movements like rocket jumping.

Blackroom will feature a 10 hour single player campaign, challenge modes, and a variety of multiplayer modes. The game will ship with six maps designed by Romero and Carmack along with more created by the community mod tools. The maps feature destructible environments using the Boxel tool in game. Set in a holographic simulation gone wrong, the game’s art direction ranges from surreal abstract levels to realistic environments.

To create the game, Romero and Carmack are turning to Kickstarter. Their new company Night Work Games is looking to raise $700,000 during the month long campaign to complete Blackroom. They have yet to provide a breakdown on how they expect the money will be used, but Night Work Games estimates a Winter 2018 launch date on Mac and Windows.

IT’S PARTY TIME! XSEED GAMES INVITES PC GAMERS TO BRAVE THE HORRORS OF CORPSE PARTY, NOW AVAILABLE ON WINDOWS PC

IT’S PARTY TIME! XSEED GAMES INVITES PC GAMERS TO BRAVE THE HORRORS OF CORPSE PARTY, NOW AVAILABLE ON WINDOWS PC

Original Indie Release Haunts Steam, GOG.com, and Humble Store for the First Time Outside of Japan with Exclusive Bonus Chapter and Features

Torrance, Calif.—April 25, 2016—XSEED Games, the independent-minded console publishing brand of Marvelous USA, Inc., today announced that the much-lauded cult classic horror adventure, Corpse Party, is now available worldwide for Windows PC on Steam, GOG.com, and the Humble Store by Humble Bundle with exclusive content and features. Originally developed as an independent title by Team GrisGris, and previously released by XSEED Games for the PSP, Corpse Party is a chilling visual novel-style experience that takes players on a terrifying journey where each step could be their last.

Localized directly from the original independent Windows PC version known as Corpse Party: BloodCovered, which has never been released outside of Japan, this Windows PC release of Corpse Party features all of the original Windows art and voice-acting, as well as a bevy of new features exclusive to this version. Among other inclusions, such as multiple endings and scenes that differ from the PSP and upcoming Nintendo 3DS releases, this version boasts four bonus chapters on top of the game’s five main story chapters. One of these is a PC-exclusive retelling of the “Tooth” story from Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, recreated with added content in classic Corpse Party adventure style. Players seeking to complete every ending will find that this version also contains a speedy fast-forward function for seamless replayability.

Developed by Team GrisGris and published by XSEED Games, Corpse Party is now available on Steam, GOG.com, and the Humble Store by Humble Bundle for $14.99. The Windows PC version of Corpse Party is not rated by the ESRB.

About Corpse Party

In Corpse Party, players take control of a group of Japanese high school students who inadvertently engage in a pagan ritual and find themselves inexplicably transported into a whole other space: an inescapable echo of a long-since demolished school building where a series of gruesome murders once took place. They must now evade the grasp of the tortured souls who roam the halls of the doomed Heavenly Host Elementary, lest they join the ranks of the dead themselves.

Corpse Party is presented using crisp 2D sprite graphics in a classic 16-bit style, brought to life with disturbingly detailed hand-drawn anime-style portraits and vividly descriptive text. The game’s old-school stylings leave players’ minds prone to wander, providing a uniquely engrossing horror experience that relies on imagination and immersion to convey an overwhelming sense of dread and prey upon the player’s own deepest fears. Put on a pair of headphones and Corpse Party becomes even more terrifying, with creepy background noises and distant voices that further heighten the terror of the game’s environment.

As players advance through Corpse Party, they will strive to avoid the game’s more than 20 “wrong ends,” in which tragedy takes over and one or more characters suffer a grim demise. Whether buried alive, forced to swallow scissors or cannibalized by a friend, wrong ends are often as disturbing as they are morbidly intriguing. To advance through the game, players must reach the one true ending in each of the game’s five chapters to unlock the next leg of the journey. The final two chapters then feature multiple true endings depending on how many characters survive the journey through the haunted school – and at Heavenly Host Elementary, survival is no easy task.

ARMORED WARFARE STARTS PRODUCTION ON TIER 10 VECHICLES

Full Details on The Upcoming Vehicles Are Revealed

Amsterdam, The Netherlands – April 25, 2016 – Developer Obsidian Entertainment and global publisher My.com are excited to reveal details of the first Tier 10 vehicles that will be added with the upcoming Update 0.15 on May 3rd. The highest tier in Armored Warfare will include pieces of armored technology, such as the Leopard 2A7, XM1A3 Abrams, PL-01, and more.
Watch the Armored Warfare Tier 10 Trailer HERE: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJWcehdrbgc&feature=youtu.be
“Leading up to the introduction of Tier 10, we’ve been carefully monitoring the community’s opinions on what the highest tier of Armored Warfare should contain,” said Antoine Guyard, EU producer for Armored Warfare. “It became obvious that while having vehicles that actually exist, it would also be good to take it a bit further and let our players experience the vehicles that are currently in the prototype or concept phase, with experimental or planned upgrades. Considering the fact that actions in Armored Warfare take place in mid-2030s, we see it as as perfect solution to bring the most awesome vehicles into Armored Warfare. We hope our players will enjoy these newest additions to Armored Warfare!”
Armored Warfare Tier 10 Vehicle details:

  • PL-01 – light tank concept developed by OBRUM and BAE Systems on a CV90 AFV chassis. Armed with an auto-loading 120mm cannon that is capable of firing APFSDS, HEAT and HE shells as well as LAHAT anti-tank guided missiles. Agile and fast, the PL-01 is the pinnacle of the Light Tank class.
  • SPHINX – French prototype vehicle by Panhard. It’s a sturdy turreted six-wheeled and lightly armored vehicle but with considerable firepower from its 40mm autocannon and ATGMs. SPHINX will be the most potent scouting vehicle in Armored Warfare.
  • Leopard 2A7-140 – the ultimate combination of the most modern Leopard 2 armor kit available and the firepower of a 120mm L/55 Rheinmetall gun or experimental 140mm cannon. Equipped with the most advanced countermeasures available in the world, it will be a tough opponent to beat for any vehicle.
  • XM1A3 Abrams – prototype which combines the most advanced upgrades available for this aging chassis. Based on the M1A2 Abrams with a TUSK kit and ARAT-2 explosive reactive armor, it is armed with a 120mm gun that can be upgraded to the 140mm ATACS cannon.
  • T-14 Armata – super-modern Main Battle Tank from Russia introduced in early 2015. It’s an advanced design that includes an unmanned turret and a new 125mm automatically loaded gun, which surpasses any other MBT currently in service.
  • Challenger 2 ATDU – the latest experimental version of the legendary Challenger 2 and best-armored vehicle in Armored Warfare. Excellent armor and experimental 140mm cannon capable of firing both kinetic and high-explosive shells make it one of the most dangerous beasts on the battlefield.
