final-fantasy-xv-screenshot-022

After waiting for over a decade, it is still somewhat hard to believe that Final Fantasy XV finally has a set release date and while we are still waiting for that September 30th release to come around, Square Enix has decided to give fans a glimpse of the many places that they will be able to explore. The company has decided to release an environmental footage trailer for Final Fantasy XV to show off the diversity of Eos from bustling city streets, to the open roads and endless desert and plains.

Players will journey across oceans, through dense jungle and forests, into dark and mysterious caves and across snow peaked mountains in a land rich with wildlife and wonder.

atelier-sophie-artwork- (4)

Gust released the most recent Atelier title back in November 2015 and while Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book is about to make its way over to the West with an early June release planned, we have heard very little about what to expect from the company in the future. Well thanks to Games Talk and a leak from 7net Shopping, it has been revealed that the June 9th issue of Dengeki PlayStation, which will be released on May 26th, will feature the reveal of the next game in the Atelier franchise.

No details about what to expect have been revealed so far though it is possible that Koei Tecmo might announce the title on their own before the magazine is released in Japan.

Wargaming tanks Lithgow for a successful Ironfest

Wargaming tanks Lithgow for a successful Ironfest

Over 40,000 people in attendance at tank-filled event

19 May, 2016 – Wargaming’s sponsorship of the annual historical and cultural event, Ironfest in Lithgow, New South Wales, went off with a bang, with over 40,000 tickets sold for the two-day event from the 15th – 17th of April.

Wargaming’s sponsorship allowed Ironfest organisers to bring an additional armoured vehicle from Brisbane for the 20th Century re-enactment event. This year’s battle showcased a number of historical tanks including the M3A1 Stuart Light Tank, M5 International Half Track, Ferret Scout Car Mark I, Ferret Scout Car Mark II, Vixen Experimental Scout Car, Saladin Medium Reconnaissance Vehicle (wheeled), Saracen Armoured Personnel Carrier (wheeled), FV 432 Armoured Personnel Carrier (tracked), among others.

Spectators and those involved in the re-enactment were excited by the historical tanks as they were able to witness a war battle first hand, which added to the authenticity of the event.

Todd Vail, President of the Australian Armoured Vehicle Association, said the additional tanks further added realism to the battle. “We couldn’t see out but it was very noisy, very stressful and very smoky. We created real firepower using blank ammunition…it was as loud as real ammunition,” said Mr Vail.

“It’s amazing to see the passion and dedication of the community involved in this year’s Ironfest, who like Wargaming, have a strong fascination with military history. I’m honoured that Wargaming’s sponsorship was able to positively impact the success of the event,” said Jasper Nicholas, General Manager, Wargaming Asia.

“As our community continues to grow and thrive within Australia, we will look to continue to sponsor local events which engage and educate about military history,” concluded Jasper.

Ironfest follows Wargaming’s donation of an AC1 Sentinel, one of only six Australian-made, WWII tanks left in existence, to the Australian Armour and Military Museum in Cairns earlier this year. The tank has since been restored by the museum, and is now available for public viewing.

To view Wargaming’s involvement in Ironfest, a video with all the battle re-enactment can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y26B72VGHiY&feature=youtu.be

CHOOSE THE FAMILY THAT RAISED YOU OR SIDE WITH YOUR TRUE HOMELAND WHEN FIRE EMBLEM FATES LAUNCHES THIS SATURDAY

CHOOSE THE FAMILY THAT RAISED YOU OR SIDE WITH YOUR TRUE HOMELAND WHEN FIRE EMBLEM FATES LAUNCHES THIS SATURDAY

Defend Hoshido in Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright or put a stop to King Garon’s machinations in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, arriving in Australia and New Zealand on May 21

19th May, 2016 – After the series’ best-ever launch in the United States earlier this year, strategy fans in Australia and New Zealand are preparing to make a difficult choice: fight for the family that raised them in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest or fight for their true homeland in Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright, two new entries in the long-running strategic RPG series that release this Saturday, exclusively for Nintendo 3DS family systems.

Raised as royalty in the Nohr kingdom, main character Corrin’s life is forever changed when it is revealed that they were actually born to the neighbouring land of Hoshido, and were kidnapped as a child by the evil King Garon. Now both nations are on the brink of war, and the player must choose whether to protect the homeland of Hoshido in Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright, or to side with the family who raised Corrin and put a stop to Garon’s machinations in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. The story is completed on June 10 with the download-only release of Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation, which sees players refuse to choose a side, and exposes the truth about the two kingdoms’ war.

Depending on the side chosen, the story will change drastically, providing wholly different experiences suited for differing player tastes and experience levels. Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright players can take on Challenge Maps to gain additional experience and money whenever they choose, making it ideal for beginners or those who first encountered the series in Fire Emblem: Awakening. Meanwhile, Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest contains a different cast of recruitable characters and doesn’t contain Challenge Maps, making character growth harder and finances more scarce, creating a tougher experience that will be familiar to veterans of the older games in the Fire Emblem series. To experience the full story, players can purchase the version they don’t yet own as well as Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation (as paid downloadable content from June 10, 2016) in-game for AU$26 / NZ$ 34 each.

The Fire Emblem Fates Launch Trailer is now available to watch on the Nintendo YouTube channel, and you can discover more details about the creation of these two games with the Developer’s Commentary videos.

Starting on May 21, downloadable content in the form of new maps will also be released on a regular basis. You can choose to buy each of these maps individually, or purchase Map Pack 1 for AU$23.40 / NZ$30.60 to get access to 11 maps, plus bonus content, as they are released. Map Pack 1 offers players a discount when compared to buying everything individually.

Also launching on May 21 is the New Nintendo 3DS XL Fire Emblem Fates Edition*, and a set of new Cover Plates for New Nintendo 3DS systems featuring the warring families – both exclusive to EB Games. Finally, anyone purchasing Fire Emblem Fates via Nintendo eShop in the first four weeks after launch will also receive a free download code for the Two Kingdoms theme.

Fight for the family that raised you in Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, fight for your true homeland in Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright, or fight for the truth in Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation: the choice is yours. Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest for Nintendo 3DS family systems launch in Australia and New Zealand on May 21, and Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation will be available as paid downloadable content in-game from June 10.

Batman Return to Arkham Remastered Collection Announced

batman-return-to-arkham-promo-01

After a leak in a French magazine yesterday comes official word from Warner Bros. that Batman: Return to Arkham will indeed be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on July 26th. The game will include both Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City and all the DLC ever released for those two games which I assume also includes any preorder bonuses and Game of the Year Edition content.

Both games in the collection will run at 60 FPS at 1080P with other graphical enhancements mostly in the textures and lighting departments. Virtuous, who have recently been responsible for the remasters of Heavy Rain and Final Fantasy X  are the ones in charge of moving the games to the new consoles which will also see a shift from Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 4.

Batman-Return-to-Arkham-screenshot-01

Not surprisingly, Batman: Arkham Origins has been omitted from the collection, most likely due to not being produced by Rocksteady themselves. It’s not a bad game but it is definitely the black sheep of the Arkham family. Personally this series is in my top 3 of last/this generation so if you haven’t played them definitely check out this updated release or even buy the old ones as they should be going very cheap at your local game store.
