OVERWATCH® IS A GLOBAL HIT WITH 7 MILLION PLAYERS—AND COUNTING

Players around the world have fought for the future for more than 119 million hours on PC, PS4™, and Xbox One in Blizzard Entertainment’s team-shooter phenomenon

The world needs heroes, and citizens from London to Xi’an to Rio de Janeiro are rising to the occasion to join the ranks of Overwatch®! Blizzard Entertainment’s critically acclaimed team shooter launched worldwide on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and Windows PC on May 24, and since then more than 7 million players have fought for the future in Overwatch, logging more than 119 million hours combined in one of the most successful global game launches of all time—and the battle is just getting started.*

“Over the months and weeks leading up to release we saw a lot of love and support for Overwatch—from Blizzard gamers, FPS fans, and people who’d never picked up a game like this before—and we’re very grateful for everyone’s incredible passion and enthusiasm,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We poured a lot of effort into creating a game—and a new universe—that anyone could enjoy. We’re ecstatic to have had such a successful launch, and we’re looking forward to all of the fun, competition, and new content still to come.”

Since launch, players have swapped heroes 326 million times and teamed up to deliver 11 million payloads to their destinations on the battlefields of tomorrow. In addition to being a smash with players around the world, Overwatch is a critical hit, and is one of the best-reviewed games of the year. GameSpot has called Overwatch “something spectacular,” while Stuff.co.nz described it as “a practically perfect online shooter,” and “easy to pick up, hard to put down”. News.com.au labelled it “outstanding”. According to Game Informer, “Overwatch is an amazing experience,” concluding in its 10-out-of-10 review that “things will never be the same.”

What Is Overwatch?

Overwatch takes place on earth in the near future, where teams of soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddities clash for control of key locations around the world. The game features a diverse cast of 21 unique heroes—including Reinhardt, the noble knight from a bygone era; Zenyatta, the robotic monk in search of enlightenment; and Symmetra, the hard-light “architech” striving to build a better world—each armed with extraordinary weapons and incredible abilities. Across a variety of vibrant and intricately designed maps, players must work together to complete various objectives, swapping heroes to adapt to the ever-changing situation and combining their powers to unleash devastating combos.

Overwatch features a variety of game modes for shooter veterans and players new to the genre:

  • Quick Play automatically matches players with allies and opponents of a similar skill level—a quick and easy way to jump into the fight.
  • Play Vs. AI mode pits a team of human players against computer-controlled opponents, with multiple difficulty settings to choose from.
  • Custom Games allow teams of friends to tweak the game’s rules, including damage and healing modifiers and which heroes and maps are in play.
  • Weekly Brawl! offers up an unexpected challenge every week, like “Justice Rains from Above” (an aerial extravaganza starring rocket-powered Pharah and Mercy, the high-flying healer) and the intense “Arcade” brawl, which features more health, faster cooldowns, and quick respawns.
  • Training modes include a Tutorial that teaches players the ropes, a Practice Range where people can try their hand at heroes in a zero-pressure environment, and a Practice vs. AI mode where heroes can further hone their skills.
  • . . . And more to come: sometime after launch, players looking for the ultimate team challenge will be able to test their mettle, earn ranks, and show off their skill in Competitive Play. Blizzard also plans to patch in new heroes and maps in the future at no additional cost.

As players compete in matches—win or lose—they’ll level up and earn Loot Boxes, each containing a combination of four items players can use to customise their heroes, including in-game credits and cosmetic goodies including skins, sprays, voice lines, and new animations. Among these items are legendary skins that dramatically alter heroes’ appearances, such as the post-apocalyptic Scavenger D.Va, or Lone Wolf Hanzo, which fills Overwatch’s expert bowman with the spirit of the wild.

Origins Edition, Collector’s Edition, and More

Windows PC, PS4, and Xbox One gamers can join the fight for the future today by purchasing Overwatch: Origins Edition (RRP $89.95 AUD / $104.99 NZD on Windows PC; $99.95 AUD / $114.99 NZD on PS4 system/Xbox One) from www.playoverwatch.com/buy. Overwatch: Origins Edition comes with a collection of hero skins that provide players with insight into five characters’ pasts—Blackwatch Reyes (Reaper), Strike-Commander Morrison (Soldier: 76), Overgrown Bastion, Security Chief Pharah, and Slipstream Tracer—as well as a cache of goodies for several Blizzard Entertainment games, including glowing Mercy wings for Diablo® III, a Baby Winston pet for World of Warcraft®, a set of heroic StarCraft® II portraits, an Overwatch-themed Hearthstone® card back, and the playable Tracer hero for Heroes of the Storm®.

Overwatch is also available in a limited-edition, retail-only Collector’s Edition (RRP $189.95 AUD / $214.99 NZD on Windows PC; RRP $199.95 AUD / $229.99 NZD, PS4 system/Xbox One), which contains all of the content listed above along with a full-colour visual sourcebook, the Overwatch soundtrack, and a high-quality collectible statue of Soldier: 76—the vigilante alter ego of former Overwatch commander Jack Morrison. Quantities are limited; players should check with their local retailer for availability. Windows PC gamers also have the option to download a digital PC edition ($69.95 AUD digital only), which includes all 21 heroes and every map, providing players with the core Overwatch experience.

Players on any platform looking to augment their collection of skins, sprays, and other cosmetic goodies may also purchase the same Loot Boxes that they can earn through gameplay. On PC, these are available in quantities of 2 for $2.95 AUD, 5 for $7.35 AUD, 11 for $14.95 AUD, 24 for $29.95 AUD, and 50 for $59.95 AUD. Console pricing may vary by region.

In addition to the English version, Overwatch has been localised into Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, German, European Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Russian, Korean, Japanese, and traditional and simplified Chinese. Overwatch has been rated Mature by the Australian Classification Board.

New Trailer for Monster Trucks

Monster-Truck-Screenshot-01

The folks over at Paramount Pictures have released a trailer for their new film, Monster Trucks, starring Lucas Till (X-Men: Days of Future Past) and directed by Chris Wedge (Ice Age). The film is meant to kick off a new family-friendly, sci-fi comedy action franchise with a strong emphasis on CGI. The trailer gives a simple overview of the story with the protagonist character coming across a strange form of creature and befriending it. The creature itself shows it has its uses by assimilating itself in to the body of his monster truck, thus creating a play on words which explains the film’s title. The film is slated for release early next year.

You can find the trailer below so feel free to tell us what you think.

New Project Highrise Teaser Trailer Reveals Some Strange Skyscraper Designs

project-highrise-screenshot-002

Kasedo Games (Excubitorand SomaSim released the first video of their upcoming skyscraper construction/management sim Project Highrise. The teaser trailer reveals a variety of strange skyscraper designs that can be built in the game, including one that reminds me of the famed Gate Tower Building in Japan with a large hole in the middle.

Project Highrise gives budding architects a chance to build and design a modern, bustling skyscraper, while managing the happiness of their occupants. A wide variety of tenants can be attracted to the building and consultants can be hired to assist with City Hall, operations, and interior design. The game will feature both sandbox and campaign modes. Project Highrise is set to launch on Steam this summer.

Black Goku Revealed in First Promo Art

We recently covered the announcement that the next arc of the Dragon Ball Super anime will feature on returning character Future Trunks and in that same announcement was a mention of the arcs antagonist, the mysteriously named Black Goku. Now we have our first look at a promotional page in a magazine that reveals Black Goku alongside a couple other interesting details.

So first off, this Goku is clearly displaying a very evil smirk, not something we are used to seeing our hero wearing. Trunks may have simply named him Black Goku based on his black attire, which seems to be a jacket blazer. The most interesting element of his design however is a green potara earring. Those familiar with the Buu arc may remember that when two people wear one earring each they fuse permanently into one being. So perhaps Black Goku has merged with someone or is looking for a suitable partner to fuse with? We have also not seen a green potara earring outside of the game Dragon Ball Xenoverse, where the one time villain Demigra also sported them.

The second big talking point is what seems to be Mai with a shotgun fighting alongside Trunks. Mai is one of the members of the Pilaf gang who first appeared in early Dragon Ball material and have more recently appeared in the latest movies, however judging from the poster, Pilaf and Shu no longer seem to be around. Interestingly, Trunks and Mai had a sort of romantic thing in Battle of Gods where they were both children, so perhaps Toriyama is playing off that here. We don’t know if she was ever wished younger in this timeline however that may be the case as in Dragon Ball GT she appeared much older and a similar time has passed.

We also see Trunks is still being presented with blue hair but whether this new style is only being used for promotional art is yet to be seen. The two both appear scuffed up in front of a rather bleak looking background which seems to entail Black Goku is causing some big damage in the future. Let us know your thoughts on Black Goku, Mai and Trunks in the comments below. The first episode of the Trunks arc will air in Japan on June 12th and should run for at least 20 episodes based on some leaked box set episode counts.

New Pokemon Sun & Moon Footage and Details

pokemon-sun-moon-promo-02

A short new trailer has been released for new main series games Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, and while it doesn’t show much, it does clarify some snippets we got from the last trailer.

pokemon-sun-moon-promo-04

The region of Alola as many predicted, is of course bigger than one island and contains 4 large islands with a mysterious man made island in the center. Whether you will have to surf between them or can take a plane or ship between them is unknown.

pokemon-sun-moon-promo-03

The Pokedex which has featured in every main game to date is getting an update. The Ghost/Electric Pokemon Rotom can now inhabit the Pokedex, turning it into more than just a Pokemon catalogue. It now seems to be your main assistance tool, similar to the Pokenav or other similar devices in past games, with one promo art showing it displaying a map. Pokemon can also be registered to the Pokedex with QR codes now as opposed to just seeing them yourself, which will help you find the location of certain Pokemon.

We got a few more character details which we basically knew from the first trailer. Professor Kukui is our main professor whose main interest is Pokemon moves. His assistant Lillie is a brand new reveal who does not like Pokemon battling, has an interest for books and will apparently play a large role in the plot of Sun & Moon. Your rival will be the Hau, who makes friends right away with you and loves Pokemon.

pokemon-sun-moon-promo-06

Lastly the two cover legends received names and abilities. Solgaleo is surprisingly a Psychic/Steel type. His ability is Full Metal Body which prevents stats from being lowered. He is very similar to the Pokemon Metagross in both his typing and ability. Solgaleo’s signature move is Sunsteel Strike, a move that disregards abilities when attacking. The Moon legendary is Lunala, a Psychic/Ghost type. Her ability is Shadow Shield which allows it to take less damage at full health. Similar to Solgaleo, its signature move Moongeist Beam ignores the targets ability when doing damage.

We can expect to see more of Pokemon at E3 2016 at Nintendo’s Treehouse, with the first live gameplay of Sun and Moon being presented as well as a Q&A on Pokemon GO! Pokemon Sun & Moon release on the Nintendo 3DS on November 18th.

The best European Football players will be on the Euro Cup 2016

Golden Manager releases a special edition for the France Euro 2016 where the best European National teams will play

Barcelona, June 2nd, 2016

The FC Barcelona player, Gerard Piqué, will be taking part in Euro 2016 and his video game “Golden Manager” will be joining the European Football party too. From June 3rd and until the end of the competition, July 10th, there will be a “Euro Cup 2016” special edition available in Golden Manager. The football manager game will allow its users to battle against the best National Teams in order to earn a unique trophy, and celebrate this enormous event that takes place once every four years.

Golden Manager releases a new Tour for this special occasion, making one of the biggest users’ demands a reality. Players will be able to compete in their own European tournament: the Euro Cup 2016. There, they will face the squads of France, Spain, Belgium or England, among others. If they beat Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and all the rest of the European stars, they will get a once-in-a-lifetime cup for their club’s Trophy Room.

The game is more related to real football than ever. Users must pay attention to the form of each National Team in the competition if they want to own the best team in the world. There will be two player updates in the video-game based on their performance in real life matches. If top players don’t play as they are expected to, their level will probably decrease. And maybe, surprise rookies will see their value increased. This information will be crucial for users to get their ideal signings.

There will be offers of up to 45% of discount in several moments of the competition to help users with the signings and especially with their challenge of becoming Euro Cup 2016 champions. Furthermore, Golden Manager will be bringing France, the host of Euro 2016, to the users. The Eiffel Tower will be present on the game, together with exclusive designs, for this special edition. All these ingredients will turn Euro Cup 2016 into a magical and unrepeatable occasion to enjoy the biggest event of European football at its best.

Golden Manager is a free online soccer game of Kerad Games with more than 10 million registered users and more than 600,000 active monthly users who, everyday, manage their squads, train their players and strengthen their line-ups with real players from the best leagues around the world. The game is based on a free-to-play model, where players can play absolutely free.
