South Park: The Fractured but Whole Delayed to Early 2017

South-Park-The-Fractured-But-Whole-screenshot-(36)

If you were hoping to play South Park: The Fractured but Whole this year then it looks like you’ll just have to deal with the premiere of the latest season of the series to tide you over for a while. Ubisoft has announced that they are no longer going to be releasing South Park: The Fractured but Whole in December and are now aiming to have the title released sometime in Q1 2017.

The reason given for the delay is that the “development team wants to make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans and the additional time will help them achieve this goal” which means that the team is taking more time to polish the game and they might even sneak in a few last minute references that might get brought up in the new season.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 TGS 2016 Trailer Released

Tokyo Game Show is an amazing place for anime game news and this year is no exception. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has received a brand new trailer but unfortunately, it was a bit of a let down. We only got confirmation of two new characters, Meta Cooler and Nail and not much of anything else outside of some flashy story sequences. There are still a few interesting tidbits I’ll go through though. You can see Nail making a brief appearance in this screenshot below.

Anime cutscenes seem to make a return for the story mode which are always nice to see. Goku and Vegeta seem to have access to their Resurrection F outfits in their base forms. There seems to be a lot more options for character customisation in terms of body features, with up to 34 hair styles shown for a female Saiyan where as the last game only had 20. Unfortunately, when your avatar goes Super Saiyan 1 or 2 their hair will remain flat which was a big complaint from the first game that seems to have carried over.

One cool feature revealed is that Towa is nurturing some kind of egg. In Dragon Ball Online lore where Mira and Towa are from, they do have a child together called Fuu who hatches from an egg. Perhaps that lore is being adapted into Dragon Ball Xenoverse.

Dates for the Japanese open and closed beta were also announced. The closed beta will run from 8/10/2017 until 10/10/2017. The open beta will run from the 14/10/2017 until the 17/10/2017.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 releases on October 25th for PS4 and Xbox One in North America and an October 28th for the rest of the world. The PC edition also lands on the 28th. Check out the new TGS trailer below. This article will be updated with official screenshots and a better quality copy of the trailer when it is made available.

Logitech Acquires Saitek from Mad Catz

Logitech announced today that they have purchased Saitek from Mad Catz today for $13 million in cash. Logitech’s purchase gives them ownership of both the Saitek brand and the full line of flight and space simulation controllers.

Ujesh Desai, the vice president and general manager of gaming at Logitech said “We’re pleased with this tuck-in acquisition of the Saitek product portfolio. The Saitek product line complements our market-leading portfolio of Logitech G gaming products, including simulation products like our G29 and G920 Driving Force steering wheels, and expands our leadership position at a very exciting time for gaming.” It is not entirely clear if Logitech will be keeping the Saitek brand as is, folding it into Logitech’s existing G gaming brand, or some combination of the two.

The sale is quite a large loss for Mad Catz, as they purchased Saitek back in 2007 for $30 million. Mad Catz’ sale of Saitek follows a major reboot of Mad Catz’s RAT line of gaming mice, which hints that Mad Catz is making a serious attempt to refocus itself in the gaming peripheral market.

New Footage from Escape from Tarkov Closed Alpha Released

escape-from-tarkov-screenshot-09

Battlestate Games released some gameplay footage recorded during Escape from Tarkov’s closed alpha. Taken from players representing the American/European themed USEC faction, the trailer features plenty of gunplay, weapon modding, and trading.

The voice work seems a little over the top based on the trailer. Characters seem to have something to say for a large portion of the firefights featured in the video; however, this is a short, edited trailer that may not represent the actual gameplay. I am hoping conversation during firefights will be a little more tactically focused beyond the die, die, die type lines featured in the trailer.

Escape from Tarkov is an FPS survival game with RPG elements set in the sealed city of Tarkov, where two factions of private military contractors are trapped inside and fighting to escape. The game is available for pre-order through the official website and comes with access to the closed alpha.
