Signal Veil Is a 90s Anime-Inspired Survival Horror Where a Haunted Phone Is Your Only Guide

Inherit a cursed cellphone, confront spirits born from trauma and fight to keep your sanity inside Nishikawa High School.

October 2, 2026 – Tokyo-based horror publisher Serafini Productions and Chilean independent studio Time Hunters announced Signal Veil, a third-person survival horror game with a strong focus on psychological terror, emotional storytelling and a 90s anime-inspired aesthetic. The game is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The reveal is accompanied by the game’s first announcement trailer, offering a first look at the haunted halls that await players.

In Signal Veil, players take on the role of Aki Mizuno, a teenage girl whose mother vanishes without a trace, leaving behind one final gift: an old cellphone that reacts to spirits no one else can see. Inside the seemingly ordinary halls of Nishikawa High School, a series of disappearances begins to unfold. Through tense exploration, ritual-like encounters and an increasingly fragile mind, Aki must uncover a past buried under false memories and silence.

Visually, the game blends the tension of classic survival horror such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill with a 90s anime aesthetic inspired by psychological horror series like Another and Jujutsu Kaisen.

Nishikawa High School is a place where every hallway hides a threat and every resource counts. Medicine, ammo and mystical weapons are scarce, so each fight against the school’s spirits demands strategy over brute force. Aki’s sanity adds another layer. As her mind slips, the world around her shifts, enemies grow more unpredictable and her own fighting becomes more desperate.

KEY FEATURES

  • Classic Fixed Camera: Explore tense environments with preset angles that limit vision and heighten suspense, inspired by Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
  • Spiritual Phone: Detect supernatural entities through vibrations, static or distortions. Use the flash to stun and the camera to reveal hidden objects or imprints.
  • Spiritual Purge: Enemies require ritual-like sequences: detect, provoke, stun, expose essence, then purge permanently.
  • Limited Tactical Combat: Scarce ammo and improvised weapons. Each entity has unique behaviors, demanding observation, strategy and environmental exploitation.

AVAILABILITY

Signal Veil is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/4528010/Signal_Veil
PlayStation Store: store.playstation.com/concept/10020814
Epic Games Store:store.epicgames.com/p/signal-veil-80c9fe

RIDE IT. TRICK IT. MAKE IT YOURS! VMX BRINGS PHYSICAL BMX, MTB AND SCOOTER RIDING TO VR TODAY

Break Free Interactive’s gesture-driven VR sports experience is now available on Meta Quest, with players able to ride, trick, customise and compete across five locations.

October 2, 2026. Grab your ride and get ready to send it! Independent developer Break Free Interactive today celebrates the launch of VMX on Meta Quest 2 and Quest 3, bringing its physical, gesture-driven take on BMX, mountain bike and scooter riding to standalone VR. VMX is available now via the Meta Store for $14.99 / £11.99 / €13.99.

VMX opens up its riding experience to Quest players, putting the controls directly into their hands. With custom physics, physical gesture-based tricks, multiplayer riding and a choice of BMX, MTB and scooters, VMX is built around the feeling of actually riding rather than simply pressing buttons to perform tricks.

Watch the brand-new VMX launch gameplay trailer below.

At the heart of VMX is a custom VR control and physics system designed to make every movement part of the ride. Players control their bike through physical gestures, building momentum, finding their line, launching from ramps and performing tricks using their own movements.

Whether chasing a high score, learning a new trick or simply finding somewhere to ride with friends, VMX gives players the freedom to approach each session their own way.

FIVE PLACES. PLENTY OF WAYS TO RIDE.

VMX launches with five distinct locations, each offering its own setting for riding and tricking.

From the Under the Bridge Skatepark and Utah Desert Dirt Track to the Miami City Map, Docks/Harbour Map and a huge stadium featuring a megaramp and animated crowd, players can switch between different environments depending on how they want to ride.

Challenge yourself, practice in Free Ride or simply explore the parks with friends in multiplayer.

PUT YOUR OWN STYLE ON THE RIDE

The Workshop gives players plenty of ways to make VMX their own.

Grab a virtual spray can and customise your bike with colours, gradients and patterns, creating a setup that looks as individual as the way you ride. Players can also customise their character with a growing range of riding gear and clothing, including helmets, goggles, full-face helmets, snapbacks and beanies.

Earn points through gameplay and spend them on new gear as you build your rider’s look.

RIDE TOGETHER

VMX is built to be enjoyed with friends, whether that’s competing for the best score, practising tricks together or simply hanging out in a skatepark.

Multiplayer lets players explore the maps together, session their favourite spots and take on challenges, giving every ride the potential to become something different.

RIDE YOUR WAY

VR riding can be an intense experience, so VMX offers two different approaches to movement.

Comfort Mode is the default option, designed to provide a smoother experience and reduce motion discomfort while players learn the controls, explore the maps and develop their riding skills.

For experienced VR players looking for a more intense experience, Immersive Mode increases the sense of physical movement to bring players even closer to the ride.

RIDE BMX. RIDE MTB. RIDE SCOOTERS.

With three different types of ride, five locations, multiplayer and a physical control system built around gesture-based tricks, VMX gives players plenty of ways to hit the parks.

Whether you’re a BMX rider looking to learn new lines, an MTB fan looking for somewhere to send it, or a scooter rider wanting to master a new trick, VMX puts the ride in your hands.

KEY FEATURES

  • Physical VR Riding – Custom physics and gesture-based controls put every movement in your hands.
  • Three Ways to Ride – Take on the parks with BMX bikes, mountain bikes or scooters.
  • Five Locations – Ride skateparks, dirt tracks, city streets, docks and a stadium megaramp.
  • Gesture-Based Tricks – Perform tricks through physical movements rather than traditional button combinations.
  • Ride With Friends – Explore, practise and compete together in multiplayer.
  • The Workshop – Spray-paint your bike with colours, gradients and custom patterns.
  • Customise Your Rider – Unlock helmets, goggles, hats, beanies and other riding gear.
  • Comfort or Immersive – Choose the VR experience that suits the way you want to ride.

VMX is available now on Meta Quest 2 and Quest 3 via the Meta Store for $14.99 / £11.99 / €13.99.

About Break Free Interactive

Break Free Interactive is an independent two-person studio focused on creating immersive VR experiences built around physics, gestures and player movement. VMX is its debut title, developed from the ground up to make virtual riding feel physical, expressive and fun.

Form a Squad of Jetpack-Wielding Animal Heroes and Defend the Universe in Co-Op Roguelite Capyverse Odyssey

Cats ruled the internet for decades. Now one of them wants it back.

October 2, 2026: Prepare to team up with your friends and battle across increasingly bizarre worlds with a team of capybaras in Capyverse Odyssey, developed and published by Metazooie Studios. Capyverse Odyssey is a co-op action roguelite title for 1- 4 players, where wholesome hero Capy and their crew must stop the rampage of a spurned cat out to avenge her lost internet virality, and you can check it out right now via a free Steam demo.

The demo lets players take control of Capy the Capybara or one of their adorable-yet-deadly crewmates including Moody, a baby hippo built like a tank and who fights like one too, and Jim, a British Bulldog who is fast, aggressive, and only possibly house-trained. Each hero brings their own abilities and playstyle, giving squads more ways to build out a team. No matter who the players choose, chaos will occur.

Capyverse Odyssey – Official Gameplay Trailer:

For a long time, cats were the internet’s favorite animals. For Ophelia, a cat who rules a kingdom powered by attention and adoration, this arrangement was working pretty well. Then capybaras went viral.

Now Ophelia is losing her grip on the spotlight, and she’s willing to twist worlds into increasingly bizarre versions of themselves just to stay relevant. The only ones who can stop her are Capy and a crew of wholesome animal heroes fighting through surreal worlds, bizarre enemies, and ever-escalating chaos.

Good thing everyone has jetpacks. Standing still isn’t really something that happens a lot in Capyverse Odyssey. You and your crew will be taking to the skies and fighting off haunted slot machines, killer clowns, and more from whichever angle works best. Stop moving for too long and an aggressive suitcase might make you regret it.

Each run is a series of maps with different objectives – things like zone defence, elimination arenas, mini-boss fights and more – and the chaos builds with every new world you encounter. Every map cleared adds a new layer – power-ups stack, wearables boost your stats and by the time you reach the end of a run, your build that started simple has become complete chaos.

With each new world you visit, you’ll see something new and surreal. From an oversized casino with hostile playing cards and ATMs that can really do some damage, to a nightmare carnival with a giant clown that launches bumper cars, things start strange and only get bizarre.

Features:

  • Jetpack capybara action. Always airborne, always moving, and always about three seconds from something exploding.
  • Play solo or with friends. Full 1-4 player online co-op. Coordinate your character’s abilities or embrace the chaos, it’s your choice.
  • Build-stacking progression. Earn power-ups and wearables after every map. Stack upgrades across the run until it feels like it might be broken, then stack a little more.
  • Objective-based maps. Something new every time, from zone defence to mini-boss fights.
  • Short, replayable runs. Drop in, stack your build, create some chaos. Easy to pick up, hard to put down after just one run.
  • Borderline unhinged enemies and worlds. Corrupted casinos, deadly wastelands, killer clowns, exploding suitcases and much more.

Capyverse Odyssey is launching on PC later this year via Steam, and a free demo is available to play right now.

All Aboard the Last Human Train: Dreadline Express Departs October 16th

Shoreline Games’ Psychological Horror “Metroidbrainia” Prepares to Pull into Steam

Prague, Czechia – October 2nd, 2026 – There are no more stations, no more destinations, and on October 16th, it will finally be time to board.

Publisher Shoreline Games and developer David Konecny have announced that Dreadline Express, the first-person psychological horror “metroidbrainia” set aboard the last human train slicing through a scorched Earth, will launch for PC via Steam on October 16th, 2026.

The news was revealed during Insider Gaming’s 28 Games Later horror showcase last night, with the game’s brand new trailer offering an unnerving glimpse aboard a train carrying what remains of humanity through the scars of a world that is no longer ours, marred by Lovecraftian themes and undertones.

Watch the brand-new release date trailer here:

Part mystery, part exploration-driven horror, and intentionally full of riddles rather than telling players where they should go next, Dreadline Express puts you aboard the last remnant of a now collapsed civilisation – a steam train populated by a handful of colourful and frankly ominous survivors.

Inside every carriage hides another piece of the puzzle. Each passenger has their own story, their own motives and, perhaps, something they would rather keep hidden, buried deep down in their psyche. Some doors upon this train, it appears, may be better left closed.

“Dreadline Express is about giving players the freedom to be curious,” offers David Konecny, developer of Dreadline Express. “I wanted to make a horror game where making it through comes from paying attention, making connections, and understanding the people and places around you, rather than simply following a trail of objectives. It’s strange, unsettling, and sometimes deliberately obtuse, and I’m incredibly excited that people will finally be able to board the train on October 16th.”

At the centre of it all is Dreadline Express’ card-based narrative system. Discoveries, encounters and achievements become cards stored within an evolving album, allowing players to uncover connections, formulate new plans and open paths that previously appeared impossible. The more you understand about the train, its passengers and the world outside, the more options you have for deciding what happens next.

“Dreadline Express is exactly the kind of game we love working with at Shoreline,” says Keith Kawamura, CEO of Shoreline Games. “It has a completely distinct identity, a brilliant central idea, and the confidence to trust players to work things out for themselves. David has created something that feels genuinely unlike anything else we’ve ever played, and we’re incredibly proud to be helping bring his wonderfully weird, unsettling train journey to players this October.”

Dreadline Express features: –

  • Unravel the mysteries of the last human train – Explore the final moving relic of a devastated civilisation, where every carriage hides new secrets, and every passenger has their own story to tell.
  • Choose your own way forward – Explore freely, decide who becomes an ally or enemy, and overcome obstacles through force, tactics, or careful deduction. There is never only one solution.
  • Piece together a fragmented story – Pay attention, gather clues, and connect the pieces of a larger narrative puzzle before everything that remains is lost forever.
  • Master a unique card-based narrative system – Turn discoveries and achievements into cards, then use your growing collection to uncover connections, plan your next move, and open new possibilities.
  • Complete the album, understand the truth – Every new card brings you closer to understanding the melancholy story behind the last human train and the fate of those aboard it.
  • Remember: you are being watched – Your choices, relationships, and discoveries all shape how your journey through the train unfolds.

Dreadline Express launches on Steam on October 16th, 2026. Players can board early through the Dreadline Express Demo, available for a very limited period right now, and wishlist the full game ahead of launch.

About David Konecny
Dreadline Express is a first-person psychological horror metroidbrainia developed by David Konecny and published by Shoreline Games. Aboard the last human train, players must explore the remnants of a fallen civilisation, investigate its increasingly strange passengers, and piece together a mystery before everything that remains disappears forever.
