Form a Squad of Jetpack-Wielding Animal Heroes and Defend the Universe in Co-Op Roguelite Capyverse Odyssey

Cats ruled the internet for decades. Now one of them wants it back.

October 2, 2026: Prepare to team up with your friends and battle across increasingly bizarre worlds with a team of capybaras in Capyverse Odyssey, developed and published by Metazooie Studios. Capyverse Odyssey is a co-op action roguelite title for 1- 4 players, where wholesome hero Capy and their crew must stop the rampage of a spurned cat out to avenge her lost internet virality, and you can check it out right now via a free Steam demo.

The demo lets players take control of Capy the Capybara or one of their adorable-yet-deadly crewmates including Moody, a baby hippo built like a tank and who fights like one too, and Jim, a British Bulldog who is fast, aggressive, and only possibly house-trained. Each hero brings their own abilities and playstyle, giving squads more ways to build out a team. No matter who the players choose, chaos will occur.

Capyverse Odyssey – Official Gameplay Trailer:

For a long time, cats were the internet’s favorite animals. For Ophelia, a cat who rules a kingdom powered by attention and adoration, this arrangement was working pretty well. Then capybaras went viral.

Now Ophelia is losing her grip on the spotlight, and she’s willing to twist worlds into increasingly bizarre versions of themselves just to stay relevant. The only ones who can stop her are Capy and a crew of wholesome animal heroes fighting through surreal worlds, bizarre enemies, and ever-escalating chaos.

Good thing everyone has jetpacks. Standing still isn’t really something that happens a lot in Capyverse Odyssey. You and your crew will be taking to the skies and fighting off haunted slot machines, killer clowns, and more from whichever angle works best. Stop moving for too long and an aggressive suitcase might make you regret it.

Each run is a series of maps with different objectives – things like zone defence, elimination arenas, mini-boss fights and more – and the chaos builds with every new world you encounter. Every map cleared adds a new layer – power-ups stack, wearables boost your stats and by the time you reach the end of a run, your build that started simple has become complete chaos.

With each new world you visit, you’ll see something new and surreal. From an oversized casino with hostile playing cards and ATMs that can really do some damage, to a nightmare carnival with a giant clown that launches bumper cars, things start strange and only get bizarre.

Features:

  • Jetpack capybara action. Always airborne, always moving, and always about three seconds from something exploding.
  • Play solo or with friends. Full 1-4 player online co-op. Coordinate your character’s abilities or embrace the chaos, it’s your choice.
  • Build-stacking progression. Earn power-ups and wearables after every map. Stack upgrades across the run until it feels like it might be broken, then stack a little more.
  • Objective-based maps. Something new every time, from zone defence to mini-boss fights.
  • Short, replayable runs. Drop in, stack your build, create some chaos. Easy to pick up, hard to put down after just one run.
  • Borderline unhinged enemies and worlds. Corrupted casinos, deadly wastelands, killer clowns, exploding suitcases and much more.

Capyverse Odyssey is launching on PC later this year via Steam, and a free demo is available to play right now.
