RIDE IT. TRICK IT. MAKE IT YOURS! VMX BRINGS PHYSICAL BMX, MTB AND SCOOTER RIDING TO VR TODAY

Break Free Interactive’s gesture-driven VR sports experience is now available on Meta Quest, with players able to ride, trick, customise and compete across five locations.

October 2, 2026. Grab your ride and get ready to send it! Independent developer Break Free Interactive today celebrates the launch of VMX on Meta Quest 2 and Quest 3, bringing its physical, gesture-driven take on BMX, mountain bike and scooter riding to standalone VR. VMX is available now via the Meta Store for $14.99 / £11.99 / €13.99.

VMX opens up its riding experience to Quest players, putting the controls directly into their hands. With custom physics, physical gesture-based tricks, multiplayer riding and a choice of BMX, MTB and scooters, VMX is built around the feeling of actually riding rather than simply pressing buttons to perform tricks.

Watch the brand-new VMX launch gameplay trailer below.

At the heart of VMX is a custom VR control and physics system designed to make every movement part of the ride. Players control their bike through physical gestures, building momentum, finding their line, launching from ramps and performing tricks using their own movements.

Whether chasing a high score, learning a new trick or simply finding somewhere to ride with friends, VMX gives players the freedom to approach each session their own way.

FIVE PLACES. PLENTY OF WAYS TO RIDE.

VMX launches with five distinct locations, each offering its own setting for riding and tricking.

From the Under the Bridge Skatepark and Utah Desert Dirt Track to the Miami City Map, Docks/Harbour Map and a huge stadium featuring a megaramp and animated crowd, players can switch between different environments depending on how they want to ride.

Challenge yourself, practice in Free Ride or simply explore the parks with friends in multiplayer.

PUT YOUR OWN STYLE ON THE RIDE

The Workshop gives players plenty of ways to make VMX their own.

Grab a virtual spray can and customise your bike with colours, gradients and patterns, creating a setup that looks as individual as the way you ride. Players can also customise their character with a growing range of riding gear and clothing, including helmets, goggles, full-face helmets, snapbacks and beanies.

Earn points through gameplay and spend them on new gear as you build your rider’s look.

RIDE TOGETHER

VMX is built to be enjoyed with friends, whether that’s competing for the best score, practising tricks together or simply hanging out in a skatepark.

Multiplayer lets players explore the maps together, session their favourite spots and take on challenges, giving every ride the potential to become something different.

RIDE YOUR WAY

VR riding can be an intense experience, so VMX offers two different approaches to movement.

Comfort Mode is the default option, designed to provide a smoother experience and reduce motion discomfort while players learn the controls, explore the maps and develop their riding skills.

For experienced VR players looking for a more intense experience, Immersive Mode increases the sense of physical movement to bring players even closer to the ride.

RIDE BMX. RIDE MTB. RIDE SCOOTERS.

With three different types of ride, five locations, multiplayer and a physical control system built around gesture-based tricks, VMX gives players plenty of ways to hit the parks.

Whether you’re a BMX rider looking to learn new lines, an MTB fan looking for somewhere to send it, or a scooter rider wanting to master a new trick, VMX puts the ride in your hands.
