KONAMI confirms latest PES 2017 Data Pack will release on February 9th

KONAMI confirms latest PES 2017 Data Pack will release on February 9th

Sydney, 6th February 2017 – Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has revealed the details of its third free Data Pack update for its acclaimed PES 2017 title, with a wealth of new faces, Legend players and more coming February 9th on PlayStation®4, XboxOne, and PC.

KONAMI is constantly looking to improve the playing experience of PES 2017, and the update will be automatically downloaded to add the new features. PES 2017 is rightly regarded as having the most authentically recreated player faces of any football title, in addition to bespoke animations and true-to-life playing styles for its players. To this end, over 100 players will be visually enhanced within the Data Pack, spanning current squads and also bolstering the detail of a number of Legend players within the game as well.

In addition to face updates to a number of top players, Data Pack 3 will introduce eight classic Borussia Dortmund strips, spanning 1975-2012, marking key moments in the illustrious German team’s rise to become a world powerhouse. KONAMI has also added new pitch side hoardings to the game, and will premiere the adidas ball that will be used in the 2016/2017 UEFA Champions League final in Cardiff in June. Additionally, new boots will be added, with the newly released footwear from Nike, adidas and Puma.

Beginning February 9th, the popular myClub mode will also be accessible in the free-to-play, PES 2017 Trial Edition. The myClub mode introduces users to PES 2017’s gameplay elements in readiness for building their own title-winning squad. Users can obtain players using accrued points from in-game achievements or micro-transactions to assemble a team of their own. For those who start myClub for the first time on that day, through until February 23rd, will receive a UEFA Team of the Year and PES Player agent to help bolster their squad.

PES 2017 centres on the concept of ‘Control Reality’, as the game ups its levels of intuitive control and its recreation of top-level football. With its ‘Real Touch’ system to ensure players can receive a pass and make space with a variety of movements, all-new ‘Precise Pass’ elements that ensure the user has complete control over the weight and speed of every pass they make, and stunning advances to both the out-field and goal keeping AI, PES 2017 delivers the definitive match day experience in every way.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands Preview

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands

Developer: Ubisoft Paris
Publisher: Ubisoft
Platform: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows (Previewed)
Release Date: 7 March 2017
Price: $59.99 USD – Available Here / $99.95 AUD – Available Here

Ubisoft is giving the Ghost Recon franchise the open world treatment with their latest game Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. The game is set in Bolivia where the merciless Santa Blanca cartel has added terrorism to their long list of misdeeds after murdering an undercover American agent. The United States government has chosen to drop in four members of Ghost Recon to track down and destroy the entire Santa Blanca cartel.

We had a chance to participate in the closed beta a test run this past weekend. The abridged build opened up the province of Itacua to players, which serves as the first area gamers will explore when the game launches in March. Itacua is a mostly rural area with lots of mountains and vegetation to stay hidden in. While there are a few small villages, outposts, and towns scattered around the province, the map provides a good sample of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildland’s natural environments.

The mission structure seems to be rather open ended, even for open world standards. The Santa Blanca cartel has four distinct wings in its organization. To get to the next level of leadership, the Ghosts must track down intel scattered around the map and interrogate Santa Blanca lieutenants to unlock story missions. This leaves a lot of flexibility to the player to decide where to explore so they can progress in the main quest line.

Like with any Tom Clancy title, there is a certain level of realism to be expected. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is more in the vein of modern Tom Clancy titles that are less forgiving than the average arcade shooter, while still being accessible to most gamers. Even at lower difficulties, players running around out of cover will be find themselves incapacitated in short order. Ubisoft Paris opted to allow players to be revived by teammates to lower the difficulty level a bit. When playing in single player, AI teammates can revive the player once per firefight. Players can also revive each other in multiplayer, though it appears the single revive per firefight restriction is dropped.

The game can be played in single player with three AI companions or in multiplayer with up to three friends. The AI companions are decent for the most part. They follow commands well and usually do a good job of guarding the player. Commands can be issued via a command wheel. A sync shot ability that shoots multiple targets at once compensates for some of the coordination that players would otherwise miss out on in the multiplayer experience.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands has a large arsenal of real world guns to choose from. The extensive gun customization menu that started with Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier and has appeared in multiple Tom Clancy titles since then also makes its appearance in Wildlands. Since the game is now an open world title, most of the guns and attachments must be found around Bolivia before they are unlocked in the customization menu. Tactical gear nuts will be thrilled to see the customization options also include lots of cosmetic options. There are plenty of options for clothing, tactical gear, weapon paint jobs, and morale patches. While glove manufacturer Mechanix appeared to be the lone corporate placement in Tom Clancy’s The Division, equipment from major tactical gear manufacturers like Crye, 5.11, and Oakley have found their way into Wildlands. Much like The Division, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands lets gamers play tactical Barbie all over again.

The game features a levelling system and several skill trees. Skill points can be earned from levelling up and finding skill point collectibles scattered around the map. Gaining new skills is not as easy as just spending the skill point though, as players will also need to scavenge supplies for the rebel forces on top of the skill point cost. The skill trees in the closed beta build have something for each play style, such as improved damage with suppressed weapons for stealth gameplay and explosive suicide drones for those who prefer to start firefights with a very loud hello.

The province of Itacua is way too large to traverse on foot. The Ghosts are able to “procure” a wide variety of vehicles in the game to help them get around. The vehicles range from the rickety old cars and trucks the local Bolivian citizens have laying around to new, expensive vehicles the Santa Blanca and the government UNIDAD forces have in their inventory. Paired with the parachute skill, players can also use helicopters and planes to get behind enemy lines and strike directly at their target instead of wading past guard posts.

Based on my experienced with the closed beta, I have high hopes for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands. While the proposal of an open world tactical shooter sounds an awful lot like Tom Clancy’s The Division, Wildlands definitely feels like a completely different game so far. The semi-realistic gameplay strikes the right balance of fun and challenge. Of course, the fact that the game scratches the tactical Barbie itch is just a bonus!

Papers, Please on Sale with Proceeds Supporting Charity

Lucas Pope is putting his dystopian border guard sim Papers, Please on sale and donating the proceeds of the sale to the American Civil Liberties Association, the American Refugee Council, and the National Immigration Law Center. The game is down to $2.99 USD on Steam and Humble Store. The sale will run until February 5th at 1PM EST and has already raised over $25,000 in just 12 hours.

Papers, Please seems to be increasing relevant due to the political climate in the United States, where President Trump signed an executive order blocking citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries from entering the United States. While the ban as been overturned by the US Federal Appeals Court, the topic has dominated the front pages of news organizations worldwide.

Of course, the news of Papers, Please’s discount and donation has been met with debate. Some have argued that video game developers have no business in politics, which is rather ironic given the topic of the game. In Papers, Please, the player takes on the role of an immigration border guard after the war between the fictional nations of Arstotzka and Kolechia end their six year war. The player must check the documents of incoming immigrants and visitors as the player is confronted with decisions that will explore the differences between ethics and law.

New Transformers: The Last Knight Trailer to Premiere at Super Bowl

Seems like Paramount Pictures’ Ghost in the Shell will have some company at the Super Bowl later today. The company will also be premiering a brand new trailer for Transformers: The Last Knight at Super Bowl LI. The fifth Transformers film is scheduled for release on June 22 in Australia.

A short teaser trailer has been released along with a letter from outgoing director Michael Bay. After directing five Transformers films, Michael Bay is moving on to new projects. His letter reflects on the journey the films has taken since its beginnings as a bunch of concept images taken from different points of the long running IP to today, where Transformers: The Last Knight is starting a chapter in the franchise that leaves the Autobots without the steady leadership of Optimus Prime.

I’ve been living in this franchise for over 10 years now. For Transformers: The Last Knight, we put together a writers’ room designed to greatly expand our mythology, integrating our films in a whole new way. Every movie will interlink.

It was a huge task to expand mythology from the beginning of the world throughout history. We had a great team of writers: Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind); Art Marcum & Matt Holloway (Iron Man); Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down); Zak Penn (Ready Player One); Lindsey Beer (Barbie); Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider); Christina Hodson (Bumblebee); Steven DeKnight (Daredevil, Smallville); Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Lost); and Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari (Ant-Man).

Through the summer of 2015, they worked in a huge space on the Paramount lot, surrounded by over 10,000 concept images from the franchise’s history: the movies, cartoons, and comic books. They had a life-size Bumblebee, a Megatron head, and many other props staring them down. We pulled from everything. It was a fan’s dream room.

We brought in Transformers historians from Hasbro to educate them on where Transformers has been – so that they could figure out where it can go.

I can safely say that there’s never been a Transformers film with the huge visual scope and expansive mythology as this movie, The Last Knight.

It’s bittersweet for me. With every Transformers film, I’ve said it would be my last. I see the 120 million fans around the world who see these movies, the huge theme park lines to the ride and the amazing Make- A-Wish kids who visit my sets, and it somehow keeps drawing me back. I love doing these movies. This film was especially fun to shoot. But, this time might really be it. So I’m blowing this one out.

It’s a final chapter and a new beginning. Here’s the writers’ log line:

The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).

There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference.

In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

Sniper Elite 4 to Support PlayStation 4 Pro and DirectX 12

Rebellion has announced that their upcoming third person shooter Sniper Elite 4 will support PlayStation 4 Pro and DirectX 12 on PC. PlayStation 4 Pro players will be able to make the most out of their consoles as Sniper Elite 4 will boast higher frame rates and faster loading times while still boasting better quality graphics and longer draw distances. For PC owners, Sniper Elite 4 will support both DirectX 11 and DirectX 12.

“We’ve worked really hard to make Sniper Elite 4 our biggest and best game ever,” said Rebellion CTO and Co-founder Chris Kingsley, “And now the power of PlayStation 4 Pro, and DirectX 12 on PC, means we can take things even further for our fans who want the best sniper experience in the world. Roccat Isku+ Force FX and Roccat Isku+ Keyboards Out Now

Easily one of Roccat’s most intriguing announcements at CES 2017, the Roccat Isku+ Force FX keyboard is the first to boast Roccat’s new pressure sensitive switches. By adding a polymer piezoelectric layer to the robber dome switch, the Roccat Isku+ Force FX keyboard can differentiate three different pressure levels. Players can then bind different key combinations to the pressure levels. For example, a player could change movement speed in an FPS based on pressure. A light touch would cause the player to walk, while medium pressure would speed things up to the normal jogging pace, and pressing hard on the key would trigger an all out sprint. The Roccat Isku+ Force FX switches are located on the QWEASD keys, which means ESDF gamers will lack the functionality on the F key.

Additionally, the keyboard is armed with RGB LED lighting on all of the UV-coated keys. The keyboard layout is the standard Roccat design that has five macro keys on the left hand side, has three under the keyboard, and replaces the dreaded Capslock key with an Easy-Shift[+] key that doubles the available macros. The keyboard works with Roccat’s new Swarm software suite and is Roccat Talk ready.

The Roccat Isku+ Force FX costs $99.99 USD. An updated Roccat Isku+ without the Force FX technology is also available for $89.99 USD.
