Combat Arms Now “Reloaded” – Sets Its Sights on Huge New Revamp

Nexon detail mammoth new update for free-to-play FP S

Berlin – June 15th, 2017 – NEXON Europe, subsidiary of NEXON Co., Ltd. (“Nexon”) (3659.TO), a worldwide leader in online and mobile games, is today excited to reveal that on June 21st the immensely popular and long-running competitive FPS Combat Arms will undergo a complete overhaul that will revolutionise the battlefield. Following a vast variety of changes in game experience and successful completion of the recent Operation Janus beta, the popular title will now be rebranded Combat Arms: Reloaded to emphasize the redesign, redefinition and rebalancing of the longstanding, successful franchise.

The update will substantially rework the underlying framework of the game by making several major adjustments in gameplay features – including a fundamental rebalancing of the Combat Arms: Reloaded arsenal – cementing its place as a leading multiplayer shooter in 2017.

Details of the update are as follows…

  • Weapon & Gear Rebalance:  The vast Combat Arms: Reloaded arsenal (weapons and gear) will undergo a rebalance – closing the performance gap between legacy and newer items ensuring that no weapon is able to easily outperform another of its kind.
  • Streamlined Arsenal: The Combat Arms: Reloaded arsenal will be streamlined to deliver a faster gearing-up experience.
  • Improved & Simplified User Interface: Visibility of the information pertaining to the performance of the Combat Arms: Reloaded arsenal will increase, streamlining the HUD and giving players a better understanding of the gear that they choose to take into battle with them.
  • Voice Chat & Matchmaking: Combat Arms: Reloaded will now feature a robust voice chat and a matchmaking system that supports both playing with close friends and clan members, as well as providing a solid groundwork for competitive play with strangers.

In Railway Empire, you will create an elaborate and wide-ranging rail network, purchase over 40 different trains modelled in extraordinary detail, and buy or build railway stations, maintenance buildings, factories and tourist attractions to keep your travel network ahead of the competition. To get to the top you may have to resort to more cutthroat tactics as you attack and sabotage your opponents through raids and industrial espionage.

Features of Railway Empire

  • Lead your Railway Empire to success by establishing a comprehensive rail network and optimizing transportation of passengers and goods.

  • Invest in over 300 new technologies across five different eras to progress and maximize the potential of your rail network.
  • Compete with up to three rival companies, and even sabotage their efforts with the use of bandits and spies.

Wargaming Debuts Mobile Games Division and Publishing Program

Wargaming Debuts Mobile Games Division and Publishing Program

New full cycle mobile division contains both in-house mobile studios and new third-party publishing program

June 15, 2017 ― Wargaming, maker of World of Tanks and other leading free-to-play multiplayer games, today announced the formation of Wargaming Mobile, a new division focused on the development and publishing of mobile games―including third-party titles via the Wargaming Mobile Publishing Program, also announced today.

Wargaming Mobile will be headquartered in Nicosia, Cyprus, where Wargaming’s corporate offices are also located. Leading the charge on Wargaming Mobile is Keith Kawahata, who joined Wargaming in late 2016 after serving in senior management roles at leading mobile games firms including GREE and Kabam.

“Wargaming Mobile brings more than just the Wargaming company’s stellar lineup of proven PC titles ready for adaptation to smartphones and tablets, as has already been done with World of Tanks Blitz,” Kawahata said. “We also offer the Wargaming Mobile Publishing Program, a comprehensive publishing solution for smaller developers to use as a springboard to instant market presence and consumer awareness. We look forward to delivering a strong stable of first- and third-party games that not only leverage our own series of vehicular combat MMOs, but also broaden the Wargaming Mobile lineup to include other game genres, as we did successfully with Gods and Glory.”

The Wargaming Mobile Publishing Program uses a complete array of top-tier support services to help smaller developers take their games to soft-launch―for six months at no cost or obligation:

  • AppsFlyer mobile attribution and marketing analytics solution
  • Amazon GameLift and Amazon Web Services: The set of cloud services that provide developers with low-latency networking, high-performance computing protection from DDoS attacks
  • Delta DNA analytics platform
  • Unreal Engine: Access to professional support via the Unreal Developer Network for all members of the Program who are developing with Unreal Engine 4. In addition, these members get the attention of Epic Games’ marketing, PR and community teams

If a third-party game performs well during the soft-launch phase, it will receive access to Wargaming Mobile’s free-to-play game-design and monetization expertise, funded marketing campaigns, and even financial support for later development stages.

The next step of the Program is a publishing contract. If a third-party game meets mutually agreed upon target metrics, Wargaming Mobile will consider publishing the game, bringing its global distribution and marketing resources to bear.

“Working with Wargaming to publish Gods & Glory was a rewarding experience for all parts of our business,” said Stanislav Savvinykh, CEO of Gods & Glory developer Friday’s Games. “With Wargaming Mobile, the process looks to be even more streamlined while offering more support and expertise from Wargaming and its strategic partners. As any mobile developer can tell you, leave the publishing to the publishers and devote your energy to making your game as fun and engaging as possible―that’s the appeal of Wargaming Mobile.”

Grand Theft Auto V Modding Tool OpenIV Shut Down by Take Two

The Grand Theft Auto V modding community was dealt a stunning blow today. The OpenIV project announced on their site they had received a cease and desist letter from Take Two, Rockstar’s parent company, ordering the modders to stop distributing OpenIV based on violations of Take Two’s intellectual property. In a public statement, OpenIV’s Lead Developer GooD-NTS accused Take Two of making GTA modding illegal and stated that the team felt they had violated no laws and respected the integrity of Rockstar’s main monetization strategy for Grand Theft Auto V by not interfering with GTA Online. Clearly, Take Two’s lawyers disagreed as the cease and desist has caused the decade long project to be shuttered.

The loss of OpenIV is a huge blow to the modding community, as it provided extensive tools for modders and allowed for easy installation of mods for the end users. While no other Grand Theft Auto V mod or mod tool projects have announced if they have received a similar C&D from Take Two’s legal team at this time, fans are understandably anxious at the current situation. RP servers have been growing in popularity recently, which is made possible with the FiveM tool.

Editor’s note: Rockstar’s response to the situation can be found here

New Railway Empire Gameplay Trailer Revealed at E3

Kalypso Media (Tropico 6) and Gaming Minds Studios released new gameplay footage of their upcoming business simulator Railway Empire at E3 2017. The trailer quickly sums up the game’s basic mechanics in a minute flat and provides short video clips of the game in action. For railway aficionados, the trailer throws in several shots of trains steaming along.

Railway Empire is the latest title in a long and storied sub-genre of railroad tycoon games. This new entry spans over 100 years of development in the United States, starting in 1830. Players will guide their company through rail construction, train purchases, utilities maintenance, rail network organization, and technological research to drive their rivals into bankruptcy.

Railway Empire is scheduled to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in Q1 2018.

Dark and Light Teams up with Nvidia to Demo Ansel Tech at E3

Snail Games (ARK Park) and Nvidia teamed up at E3 2017 this year to demo Nvidia’s Ansel technology with Snail’s upcoming RPG Dark and Light. Ansel allows gamers to pause the game at any moment to capture their epic gameplay moments in gigapixel resolution. Once the game is paused, players will be able to manipulate the camera, apply filters, and prepare their screenshots in panoramic view for desktops or in stereoscopic 3D for VR devices. Nvidia Ansel is compatible with most Nvidia GTX cards from the 6xx series and higher.

Dark and Light is a fantasy sandbox survival game set on the planet Alpha. The world flows with magic from six different primal elemental forces. The collapse of the nearby planet Gaia has resulted in chaotic forces driving Alpha’s creatures mad when the sun sets. To survive, players will need to master the elements and become powerful mages to explore, survive, and eventually conquer Alpha.

Dark and Light is scheduled to enter Steam Early Access later in 2017.

Conan Exiles to Launch on Xbox One in August with Free Expansion

Funcom has finally put a date on Conan Exiles‘ entry to the Xbox One Game Preview program. The game will hit early access on August 16th, 2017, with full 4K support on Xbox One X to be added at a later date. The new  “Highlands” expansion will also simultaneously launch on August 16th on both PC and Xbox One. There is no word on an early access version of the game for PlayStation 4 at this time. The game is expected to leave early access and launch for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, in Q1 2018

“Highlands” adds a brand new region to the game’s map, almost doubling the total area available for play. The new zone adds lush coniferous forests and snowy mountains. Along with the new environments are new creatures like giant woolly mammoths, wolves, and moose to hunt and new monsters to slay. More detail about the expansion is scheduled to be revealed in the next two months.
