Make Puny Heroes Fear You in Iratus: Lord of the Dead

Make Puny Heroes Fear You in Iratus: Lord of the Dead

Raise the Dead, Rule the World

St. Petersburg, February 28th, 2018 – Villainy has a new name, and that name is Iratus: Lord of the Dead. Taking the villainous tone of Dungeon Keeper and the strategic style of Darkest Dungeon, this new game by Unfrozen lets players revel in true evil as they plan for domination.

Iratus: Lord of the Dead tells the story of a dark necromancer on a quest for vengeance. After many years dead, he has risen from the grave to reign terror on a world that has grown too comfortable for his liking. Finally ready to strike, gamers will take up his grisly (if sardonic) mantle and rebuild an army to defeat the pesky heroes that have taken residence underground.

“As you can tell, we were heavily inspired by our love for turn-based strategy games, we love dark humor and so set out to create a darkest dungeon meets dungeon keeper experience,” Said Denis Fedorov, lead developer at Unfrozen Studios. “We wanted to create something that was unique but familiar at the same time and so we created a combat system that on the surface players will be right at home with but once in, you’ll see things you were expecting and unique twists thoughout the mechanics.”

Iratus adds plenty of challenge to the classic turn-based combat system. Each fight is highly strategic, making every action in a battle matter. Debuffs, minion types, even movement will impact a fight for better or worse. Failure results in permanently destroyed minions, so players will need to think through every fight to hold onto valuable resources. The combat system is designed to avoid repetitive battles that are common to the genre and instead focus on unique strategic experiences and tactical situations that differ as your progress.

Because Iratus’s minions are undead, players now possess the means to affect morale meters that burdened them in other games. Depending on the monster and their abilities, they can lower the morale of the heroes they fight. If their morale is past the breaking point, enemies might flee the fight or even die from fear.

While heroes are renowned for the loot they’d collect in other RPGs, Iratus is only interested in their corpses. Collecting body parts from fallen enemies allows him to create various undead minions to fight in his name, such as Skeletons, Zombies, Vampires, and Banshees. This morbid crafting, along with Iratus’s other necromantic powers in Alchemy, Magic, and Tactics, will level up as Iratus re-remembers his powers and reestablishes his domain over death itself.

Iratus: Lord of the Dead will come to Steam on Early Access in Q2, 2018.

Rogue-like Tabletop RPG, For The King, Comes Out Of Early Access In April, Heads To Console In 2019, Finds Home With Publisher Curve Digital

Rogue-like Tabletop RPG, For The King, Comes Out Of Early Access In April, Heads To Console In 2019, Finds Home With Publisher Curve Digital

For the King is a unique blend of top-down strategy, turn-based JRPG-inspired combat and rogue-like gameplay systems

London, United Kingdom – February 28th, 2018 – Award-winning publisher Curve Digital, has partnered with IronOak Games to publish For the King, a rogue-like RPG adventure which sees players journey into procedurally generated levels to avenge their recently murdered King.

To celebrate the one year launch anniversary on Steam Early Access, IronOak Games has revealed For The King will move into a full release this April – and that PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of the game will release in early 2019.

For The King is the first game from IronOak Games in Vancouver, Canada, formed in 2015 by a team of industry veterans who’ve previously worked on titles such as Sleeping Dogs, Dead Rising and Need For Speed. Driven by a desire to create a game they wanted to play, the founders quit their day jobs specifically to make For The King – and that passion and love helped the game become a huge Kickstarter smash in 2015, before going on to enjoy Steam Early Access success in 2017.

Mixing up a challenging blend of strategy, JRPG combat, and rogue-like elements, For The King features both a single player experience as well as the ability to play cooperatively both online and locally. Taking place in the gorgeous, hexagonal kingdom of Fahrul, players must strategically explore and battle their way through the fairytale, low-poly landscape in a bid to discover and survive, lest they succumb to death.

“For The King is a passion project for us and very much an homage to the RPG genre,” said  Colby Young, Game Designer of IronOak Games. “Early Access has been great for the game, allowing us to listen to fans and make the game as strong, polished and fun as possible. Now with its full release, and our new publishing deal with Curve, we can’t wait for more players to experience For The King.”

“We’ve been following For The King since its Kickstarter, and we’re extremely excited to announce today that IronOak have become part of the Curve family,” said Jason Perkins, Managing Director of Curve Digital. “The office is full of board game players and we frequently play them in our downtime. To have a title which encompasses this passion is thrilling – we can’t wait for the title to be fully released.”

The once peaceful kingdom of Fahrul is in chaos – the King is dead, murdered by an unknown assailant. With nowhere left to turn and stretched beyond her means, the queen has put out a desperate plea to the citizens of the land to rise up and help stem the tide of impending doom. In For The King, players can choose to create a makeshift party, either splitting up to cover more ground or sticking together for protection. A sound strategy can mean the difference between life and death.

Each play through is made unique with procedural maps, quests, and events. Players must brave the relentless elements, fight the wicked creatures, sail the seas and delve into the dark underworld. Brutal, turn-based combat unfolds using a unique slot system for attacks and special abilities while herbs can be gathered to heal wounds and cure maladies. Safe camps protect from the horror that nightfall brings but players must remember, they do not do this for the riches or fame but for their village and for their realm. For The King!

For The King will leave Early Access on Steam in early April. To coincide with this, the price will increase to from $14.99 to $19.99. Anyone wishing to purchase For The King now will benefit from the reduced price up until full release.

NEW AUTO ROYALE™ GAME MODE RELEASES TODAY IN H1Z1®

NEW AUTO ROYALE™ GAME MODE RELEASES TODAY IN H1Z1®

H1Z1 Launches Out of Early Access With Massive Update That Includes Tactical Deployment, HUD Revamp and a Surprise Vehicular Battle Royale Mode

SAN DIEGO Feb. 28, 2018 – Daybreak Games® today announced the official launch of H1Z1®, the original standalone battle royale game that sparked a worldwide phenomenon. H1Z1 is now available on Steam for Windows PC with a brand-new game mode, Auto Royale™, injecting high-octane vehicular mayhem into the genre.

“In 2016, we did something unheard of – we split a successful game into two products and introduced the world to the first standalone battle royale game. The next year, we created the first battle royale esports league and became the second esport to ever air on broadcast television. This year, we continue to push this young genre forward with the introduction of Auto Royale,” said H1Z1 General Manager Anthony Castoro. “Auto Royale doesn’t rinse and repeat what is currently available on the market; it turns the genre on its head with a fresh approach – arcadey, vehicle-only battle royale unlike anything anyone has experienced before.”

Inspired by H1Z1’s fast-paced vehicle play, the new game mode – Auto Royale – features up to 30 teams of four in a battle to be the last vehicle standing. Teams speed around the massive map looking for power-ups, weapons, ammo, fuel and health as they try to outshoot, outdrive and outlast the competition. The mode introduces two new vehicles to H1Z1, a sedan and an armored recon vehicle (ARV), as well as a variety of features to cause vehicular havoc, including ramps, landmines, oil slicks, turbo boosts, vehicle jumps, corrosive smoke and much more.

AUTO ROYALE GAME MODE HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Two New Vehicles: Players can choose from two vehicles in Auto Royale – sedan or ARV – both new to the game and only available in Auto Royale.
    • Sedan: Nimble car with faster acceleration and higher jump clearance, allowing skilled drivers to quickly evade enemies.
    • Armored Recon Vehicle (ARV): Offers more stability, making it easier to drive for new players, but has less turbo fuel efficiency.
  • New Weapons: The light machine gun (LMG), available only in Auto Royale, deals the most sustained damage of any gun in the game.
  • New Power Ups: Players pick up evasive, defensive and combat drops to throw opponents off their trail, heal themselves, or deal damage to enemy vehicles.
    • Drops include vehicle repair kits, environmental buffs, fire extinguishers, and vehicle armor.
    • Power ups include smoke screens, high-octane fuel, turbo boosts, and oil slicks.
    • Pick-ups include landmines and corrosive smoke.

Auto Royale is currently in beta and will continue to develop with feedback from the community. Along with the new vehicular battle royale game mode, H1Z1 launches with a plethora of new features designed to enhance the game’s competitive nature and fast-paced combat.

ADDITIONAL H1Z1 LAUNCH FEATURES:

  • Tactical Deployment: Players can choose which area to parachute into at the start of a match using a heat map that shows locations of where other players spawn.
  • Airdrop Revamp: The airdrop system has been refined to add more points of contention, increasing the drop frequency and item value.
  • Season 1: The first official in-game season for H1Z1 starts with an all-new scoring algorithm designed to reward consistency and aggression, not just a player’s 10 best placements.
  • Mini-map: Players now have the option to turn on a mini-map to help them navigate the world.
  • Founder’s Item: All players who bought H1Z1 during early access will receive a special in-game shirt.
  • And More!

H1Z1 evolved tremendously during early access thanks to continued feedback from the community, leading to overhauls to the combat and vehicle systems, the addition of skirmishes and airdrops, changes to the toxicity system and more. The game will continue to escalate its solo and team-based last-person-standing thrills with new updates after release, including Z1 Remastered, a revamped version of the fan-favorite map from H1Z1’s early days. Daybreak is committed to further growing H1Z1’s competitive scene with support for structured organized play, tournaments and the H1Z1 Pro League.

H1Z1 is now available for $19.99 through Steam for Windows PC. For more information, visit www.h1z1.com, as well as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Twitch.

About H1Z1®

DARK FANTASY RTS FROM FORMER EPIC GAMES AND MARVEL STUDIOS TALENT RELEASE BOOK II OF GOLEM GATES’ EPISODIC SINGLE-PLAYER CAMPAIGN

DARK FANTASY RTS FROM FORMER EPIC GAMES AND MARVEL STUDIOS TALENT RELEASE BOOK II OF GOLEM GATES’ EPISODIC SINGLE-PLAYER CAMPAIGN

Major Steam Update Featuring New Modes, Maps and Single- and Multiplayer Content Available Today for Free

APEX, NC (FEBRUARY 28, 2018)Laser Guided Games LLC — an independent developer made up of industry veterans from Epic Games — and Hollow Earth Inc., the studio responsible for character design in blockbuster Marvel films Black Panther, Spider-Man: Homecoming and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, today continues the episodic story campaign for their dark fantasy real-time strategy game Golem Gates for Windows PC. The Book II update, available today as a free update through Steam, expands the original lore-rich world of Golem Gates by introducing new characters and settings, in addition to unlocking new single- and multiplayer content.

The Harbinger’s quest for redemption continues with the release of Book II, the second part of Golem Gates’ three-part single-player story campaign. Under the guidance of The Archive, The Harbinger journeys deeper into his forsaken world in search of an artifact that could put a stop to the corrupting force known as the Unbound. Wielding the power to manipulate and command nanites pulled from the atmosphere — known as The Ash — The Harbinger and his legion of constructed golem advance to destroy the monolithic Golem Gates across five story missions. But a powerful new enemy awaits him: Tetra. Build and conquer to restore life to the world.

“Since we launched on Steam, fans have asked for more story content, so we’re excited to once again oblige,” said Josh Nizzi, Head of Hollow Earth Inc. “In Book II, The Harbinger is faced with numerous obstacles, one being a new enemy called Tetra. Players will have to prepare their best Glyphs before they confront this unique threat!”

Golem Gates launches in March, but we’re closing out February with a bang by releasing the biggest update to date,” said Matt Oelfke, Founder and Lead Developer at Laser Guided Games. “Not only will players dive deeper into the mysterious and captivating story of Golem Gates, but fans of competitive multiplayer and score-based challenges are in for a treat as well.”

Golem Gates is a hybrid strategy game where players collect cards (called Glyphs) and strategically weave them into a deck to prepare for battle. Battles are fast-paced and highly tactical with streamlined resource management to keep the focus on the unrelenting action. Through Steam Early Access players can take their glyph decks online in various competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes, and experience Golem Gate’s epic story in an episodic format.

In addition to continuing the story campaign, the Book II content update adds ten new single-player Trials of remixed missions and maps with unique challenges — including a frantic race to evade and destroy enemy artillery stations, and the capture of an indestructible golem. A new multiplayer Versus map featuring balconies and pathways perfect for flanking enemy units, and a co-op desert Survival map that challenges players to multitask numerous defensive positions, are both parts of the update as well. Players can additionally unlock new Glyphs — the summonable Duelist unit type and two Tech Glyphs — and incorporate them into their decks.

Key Features:

  • Dynamic Diversity: Create your own unique battle plan to counter your opponents with nearly 100 collectible card game inspired Glyphs, including units, buildings, traps, buffs, debuffs and techs, that provide nearly limitless strategy options.
  • Multiple Modes: Experience the evolving story of Golem Gates’ single-player campaign and take the fight online with friends in cooperative and survival-based modes.
  • May the RNG Gods Smile Upon You: Randomized Glyph drawing puts a slightly different spin on every battle by eliminating monotonous build sequences, while rewarding deck building mastery and strategic planning chops in equal measure.
  • Streamlined Strategy: Build and enhance your forces with Glyphs; no production or research buildings are needed. Capture resources in King of the Hill style skirmishes without dedicated gathering units and keep your focus where it belongs — on the battle.
  • Fight Where You Have Sight: Glyphs can be played almost anywhere you have an existing presence. Add more forces to a battle to turn the tide, transform a scouting party into an army, place emergency defenses to respond to the enemy or hide an outpost in a direction the enemy doesn’t expect. The choices are yours but beware: the enemy will do the same and with the right Glyph, your forces can be destroyed as quickly as they were created.

Golem Gates is a collaborative project developed by Laser Guided Games and Hollow Earth Inc. Laser Guided Games is made up of veterans from Epic Games who have worked on blockbuster game franchises such as Gears of War and Unreal Tournament. The Hollow Earth team specializes in art design and story development with past experience working on blockbuster Marvel films Spider-Man: Homecoming, the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War and the recently released Black Panther, in addition to the Transformers movie franchise.

Golem Gates is available for purchase now via Steam Early Access for Windows PC at a launch price of $29.99 at http://store.steampowered.com/app/575970/Golem_Gates. The complete game emerges from Early Access on March 28, 2018.

Elite Dangerous: Beyond – Chapter One available today

Elite Dangerous: Beyond – Chapter One available today

Cambridge, UK. 27 February 2018. Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV) today launches Elite Dangerous: Beyond – Chapter One, the first free update of Elite Dangerous’ third season, for PC, the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and the Xbox One all-in-one games and entertainment system.

Beyond will focus on bringing foundational changes to the core systems of Elite Dangerous and include new in-game content for Commanders to experience as they explore the massively multiplayer galaxy.

Beyond – Chapter One introduces challenging Wing Missions, all-new megaship interactions that allow for collection of data and cargo, and a range of major quality of life improvements including changes to the crime and punishment mechanics, visual planetary enhancements, an overhaul of the mission rewards system and the addition of a trade data overlay that will help Commanders find the most profitable trades in the Milky Way.

The Thargoid story continues in Beyond – Chapter One. Following the recent alien attack on humanity’s starports, Chapter One sees the shape of the threat continuing to change as an enemy craft from long ago resurfaces ready to strike any daring pilots that cross its path.

In response to the rising alien threat a new Alliance/Lakon Spaceways ship – the Chieftain – takes to the skies in Chapter One. Designed to favour weapons and manoeuvrability over defence, this combat-oriented craft presents a new challenge for the Thargoids in the hands of capable pilots.

Commanders will also be able to uncover new clues about the mysterious Guardians, offering insight into this long-lost civilisation and their way of life. As Commanders assemble these pieces of information and artefacts they will be able to design and engineer new items and weapons that can deal impressive damage.

Elite Dangerous: Beyond – Chapter One is available today as a free game update for Elite Dangerous players on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. To experience some features of Chapter One, players will need to own Elite Dangerous: Horizons.

Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous: Horizons are available now for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
