Play as Geralt of Rivia in SOULCALIBUR VI

CD PROJEKT RED, creators of The Witcher series of games, in cooperation with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe, announce Geralt of Rivia joining the playable character roster of SOULCALIBUR VI.

Geralt was trained at the elite School of the Wolf and is considered one of the deadliest monster slayers. He possesses superhuman reflexes and strength, as well as superior sword fighting skills. Players who choose to fight as Geralt will utilize the witcher’s signature fighting style — a combination of swordplay, ability-enhancing potions, and combat magic.

Doug Cockle — the English voice of Geralt of Rivia — returns in SOULCALIBUR VI to reprise the role. Gamers will also be able to fight in Kaer Morhen — home keep of the School of the Wolf. Accompanying players in battle will be “Hunt or be Hunted” — an iconic composition from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt soundtrack.

“SOULCALIBUR is well known in the fighting games genre for including iconic guest characters. When we were approached with the idea of doing a crossover, we thought our community would really enjoy playing as the witcher,” said Marcin Momot, Community Lead at CD PROJEKT RED. “We’ve collaborated with BANDAI NAMCO artists to faithfully recreate Geralt, and shared original Witcher 3 assets like Geralt’s model, animations, and weapons. I think BANDAI NAMCO did an outstanding job of capturing all the details and introducing The Witcher to SOULCALIBUR in a way fans of both series will enjoy.”

“All SOULCALIBUR characters have strong convictions and complex backgrounds and this is why it is a great honor for the whole SOULCALIBUR team to welcome Geralt as the guest character in SOULCALIBUR VI.” said SOULCALIBUR producer, Motohiro Okubo. “Thanks to the great cooperation with CD PROJEKT RED, we’ve been able to fully integrate Geralt’s fighting style and appearance. We can’t wait for SOULCALIBUR fans around the world to welcome Geralt to the stage of History.”

SOULCALIBUR VI, featuring Geralt of Rivia and the training grounds of Kaer Morhen stage, will launch this year on PlayStation®4, Xbox One and PC Digital via STEAM®.

Today War Drum launched a limited Closed Beta on iOS, with a full worldwide launch anticipated later this Spring on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. Interested ARK survivors can visit www.playark.com/mobile to sign up for news on the game’s development and for your chance to participate in the ARK mobile beta.

Choosing from single-player or the persistent online multiplayer, ARK survivors will be stranded on a mysterious island, unarmed and beset with danger on all sides. ARK: Survival Evolved Mobile Features:

  • 80+ Dinosaurs: Use cunning strategy and tactics to tame, train, ride and breed the many dinosaurs and other primeval creatures roaming the dynamic, persistent ecosystems across land, sea, air, and even underground.
  • Discover: Unearth rare blueprints and Explorer Notes written by previous human denizens of the ARK from across the millennia, detailing the mysterious island’s creatures and backstory.
  • Craft and Build: Using any means necessary – survive, craft weapons, clothes, and items, and build shelters, villages, or even large cities. Plant, Harvest, Build, Level-Up, and Customize everything visually and functionally, including procedurally-generated RPG statistics for creatures, characters, resources, clothing, gear, and weapons, both primitive and modern.
  • Play Alone or Team Up to Survive: Team up with, or prey on, up to 50 other players in a large-scale multiplayer online first-person environment, or choose single player mode to test alone your mettle against the dinos.
  • Join a Tribe: The ‘Tribe’ system encourages cooperation, by supporting dynamic parties to share resources, XP, and re-spawn points.

Fly a Pterodactyl squadron over the snow-capped mountains, race through the deep jungle with your pack of trained Raptors, tromp through a fortified enemy base along a convoy of gigantic Brontosaurus, or chase down prey on the back of a raging T-Rex. Players will quickly learn that dinosaurs aren’t the only dangerous creatures on the island. Other survivors are organizing rebel tribes to accumulate resources, experience, re-spawn points, and to construct sprawling villages and cities, with technology spanning the primitive stone-age to the modern electric-powered era and beyond. And they will fight to destroy anything they see as a threat.

Since its launch into Steam’s early access program in June 2015, over 13 Million survivor’s across PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have been stranded on the ARK island, wandering into an incredible land to discover how to tame, train, ride, and breed the 80+ dinosaurs and primeval creatures roaming the land.

“Traditional private equity and venture firms appreciate the 100 billion dollar size of the gaming industry, but most lack the understanding and the comfort level to invest in it,” said Jack Tretton, Managing Partner, Interactive Gaming Ventures. “We provide these studios structure, cash infusion, and use our relationships to ensure that they are getting an appropriate share of voice from first parties backed by investors that know the industry and seek the outstanding financial returns that a well run publisher can provide.”

Tretton is joined by Managing Partner Doug Kennedy, the CEO of Studio Wildcard who drove its mega-hit ARK: Survival Evolved to more than 13M copies sold. Kennedy co-founded Reverb Communications, veteran PR agency, that helped launch mega hits Guitar Hero, Rock Band and PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. In 2009, Kennedy launched Reverb’s indie publishing initiative to discover small, funded studios and bring their games to PC and console. Tretton and Kennedy’s combined 50 years of experience bring a high level of expertise in all aspects of successfully bringing games to market.

War Thunder Moves To Dagor 5.0 Engine: Improved Graphics and Sounds

War Thunder Moves To Dagor 5.0 Engine: Improved Graphics and Sounds

Massive Update 1.77 ‘Advancing Storm’ enhances visuals, audio, and enters next-gen armored warfare with M1 Abrams, Challenger 1, Leopard 2K, T-64B & more

Thursday, March 15th, 2018 — Gaijin Entertainment today announced the release of major Update 1.77 ‘Advancing Storm’ for its vehicular combat MMOG War Thunder. “Advancing Storm” introduces the PC and console versions of War Thunder to Gaijin’s new and improved Dagor 5.0 engine, capable of near photo realistic environments and vehicles. The update also adds nearly two dozen new vehicles, including five next generation tanks on Rank VI: the M1 Abrams, Challenger 1, Leopard 2K, T-64B and AMX-30B2 Brenus.

Among the graphical improvements introduced with Dagor Engine 5.0 are technologies like Global Illumination (GI) and Contact Shadows. Together with photorealistic weather effects, volumetric fog and smoke, War Thunder is now visually more much more life-like and detailed. Also new is Temporal Anti-Aliasing (Variance Clipping TAA), an anti-aliasing algorithm that greatly reduces the visible “noise” on distant vegetation, smooths the appearance of objects, and adds more detail to surfaces. Furthermore, the creation of landscapes was improved with the addition of visible reliefs via displacement mapping, resulting in much more visually diverse environments. Roads, for example, now have potholes, ruts and may show puddles of slush, water or mud – with the latter depending on the current weather and type of terrain. These landscape changes are visible to players on all graphics settings.

Accompanying the visual improvements is a complete redesign of in-game sound effects. Each shot effect is now created from several layers of sounds that correspond to peak and residual effects. Thus, experienced tankers are now able to determine the caliber of the cannon that fired the shot, even from distance. The effects themselves received additional details, so players can now hear the sound of cases dropping as they fire, or the working loading mechanisms of their cannons. Aircraft sounds are more vibrant and powerful. Further improvements are also planned for future updates.

Several next generation main battle tanks of the 1970s and 1980s now reinforce the arsenal of War Thunder on Rank VI: the U.S. M1 Abrams, British Challenger 1, German Leopard 2K, Soviet T-64B and French AMX-30B2 Brenus. All of them boast powerful weapons, armor, high speed, and mobility. Noteworthy here is the special cannon of the T-64B that allows it to fire ‘Cobra’ guided anti-tank missiles and the AMX-30B2 Brenus’ powerful reactive armor. Some of the vehicles introduced with Update 1.77 are still in service today.

German pilots can look forward to the heavy Heinkel He 177 A-5 Greif bomber, which was created by a War Thunder player under the Revenue Share Partner Program. You can follow up on the He 177’s creation process on War Thunder Live: http://live.warthunder.com

Update 1.77 ‘Advancing Storm’ features plenty of other graphical improvements, vehicles and changes. Read more on the official War Thunder website: http://www.warthunder.com

Latest Raspberry Pi 3 computer board now available from RS Components

Latest Raspberry Pi 3 computer board now available from RS Components

SYDNEY, March 15, 2018 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/–

New Model B+ delivers more processing and faster communications

RS Components(http://au.rs-online.com/web/) (RS), the trading brands of Electrocomponents plc(http://www.electrocomponents.com/) (LSE:ECM), the global distributor for engineers, today announced availability of the latest Raspberry Pi computer board: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+. It is now available to order supplied with the official Raspberry Pi case at https://au.rs-online.com/web/generalDisplay.html?id=raspberrypi.

The latest Raspberry Pi computer board: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ and the official Raspberry Pi case.

Building upon the phenomenal success of the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, which will remain in production, the new board is the latest product in the Raspberry Pi 3 range and targets a very wide range of users including students and enthusiasts, as well as experienced engineers and professionals who are developing innovative Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+

The new Model B+ board is based upon the latest revision of the Broadcom BCM2837 System-on-Chip (SoC) processor running at 1.4GHz, more than 10% faster than the processor on the current Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. The BCM2837 processor is a quad-core device that integrates an ARM A53 processor core cluster running the 64-bit ARMv8 instruction set. Multimedia handling capability of the processor includes support for H.264, MPEG-4 decode (1080p30), H.264 encode (1080p30) and OpenGL ES 1.1, 2.0 graphics.

The Model B+ board also offers 1GB of LPDDR2 SDRAM memory and the latest wireless combo chip from Cypress Semiconductor, which provides dual-band 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz Wi-Fi according to IEEE802.11ac, as well as the Bluetooth 4.1 specification for BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) communications, delivering significantly reduced wireless compliance testing and thereby improving both cost and time to market.

The board also offers improved communications performance via Gigabit Ethernet over USB 2.0, delivering a maximum throughput of 300Mbps through the board’s four USB 2.0 ports; as well as retaining the extensive 40-pin GPIO (General Purpose Input Output) header connector. Audio/video connections include HDMI and MIPI DSI/CSI display/camera ports, as well as a four-pole stereo output and composite video port.

While offering improved thermal management compared to previous Raspberry Pi incarnations, the board also retains many of the same features and capabilities of previous-generation boards such as its small mechanical footprint of 85 x 56mm, making it suitable for the current official Raspberry Pi case, as well as many other third-party enclosures available on the market today.

“Once again, Raspberry Pi continues to evolve, boosting its processing and communications performance,” said Lindsley Ruth, Chief Executive Officer at Electrocomponents. “RS is honoured to continue partnering with the Raspberry Pi Foundation to deliver new capabilities for individual users and businesses looking to develop applications for the IoT, as well as other innovative concepts and designs.”

The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ is manufactured exclusively in the UK under licence by the distributor. For further resources, please visit RS Components Raspberry Pi(https://au.rs-online.com/web/generalDisplay.html?id=raspberrypi).

Extinction’s New Story Trailer Packs a Wallop

Extinction’s New Story Trailer Packs a Wallop

Sydney, Australia. (March 15, 2018) — The end is near. Today, Iron Galaxy and Modus Games present Extinction’s story trailer leading up to the game’s release on April 10, 2018, for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One.

Legends have told of an elite group of warriors known as Sentinels, the only humans capable of defeating the dreadful giant beasts called Ravenii. Eventually, these legends faded to myth and were only spoken about in children’s fairy tales. As time went on, people no longer warred against monsters but instead turned to battling one another.

Now the unthinkable has occurred: the Ravenii have returned to this land through strange, arcane portals, with bloodthirsty new allies trailing in their wake. Avil, the last of the ancient order – and the hero you will play – must use everything in his arsenal to slow the oncoming storm and rescue as many people as possible in the land of Dolorum.

Dolorum is besieged on all fronts and Extinction’s campaign tells the story of the Ravenii’s relentless march through the country. Avil and his ally, Xandra, have to work together with King Yarrow to try and stem the tide. Meanwhile, humanity is making one last-ditch effort to understand the Ravenii and to make the alien technology their own. Failure here means the end of everything.

Extinction will launch on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and Xbox One on April 10, 2018, and is available to pre-order now!

Ubisoft recently released For Honor Season Five, titled Age of Wolves, across all platforms. The newest update brought dedicated servers to both PC and consoles, which eliminated re-syncing and session-migration issues while improving stability and connectivity. In addition to dedicated servers, Age of Wolves delivered major hero updates, as well as several quality-of-life updates that adjusted player progression, ranked play and more. New training modes that will assist new and veteran players alike in sharpening their skills will also be introduced during Season Five.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with other Ubisoft studios,** For Honor offers an engaging campaign and thrilling multiplayer modes. Players embody warriors of the three Great Factions – the bold Knights, the brutal Vikings and the deadly Samurai – fighting to the death on intense and believable melee battlefields. The Art of Battle, the game’s innovative combat system that puts players in total control of their warriors, allows them to utilize the unique skills and combat style of each hero to vanquish all enemies who stand in their way.
