Read Only Memories’ colorful, futuristic metropolis is home to the world’s first fully sapient ROM (Relationship and Organizational Manager), Turing. Together with a struggling journalist, they investigate the mysterious disappearance of Turing’s creator. Make choices affecting the relationship between Turing and the journalist while the duo solves point-and-click puzzles and engages in problem-solving mini-games.

Neo-San Francisco thrives in a brighter, pastel cyberpunk future and is home to a diverse cast of characters which provoke questions about identity, individuality and the human experience. Thoughtful interactions between characters voiced by experienced actors such as Melissa Hutchison (The Walking Dead), Adam Harrington (Middle Earth: Shadow of War, The Wolf Among Us) and more explore nuances of the human condition and its intersection with technology.

My Time at Portia Leaves Steam Early Access

Team17 and Pathea Games announced My Time at Portia has finally left Steam Early Access after a year of testing. Originally Kickstarted back in 2017, the game is inspired by a wide variety of classic video games and movies. Players will see touches of Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, and Dark Cloud 2 in the gameplay mechanics. The eye catching art style is inspired by the legendary Studio Ghibli.

My Time at Portia drops the player in the town of Portia. Players take over their Pa’s old workshop. It’s run down and full of holes, but there’s just enough foundation to rebuild it to its former glory. Players will build equipment for the townsfolk, run their own farm, fight their way through dungeons, and explore the land.

My Time at Portia is available now on Steam and the Epic Games Store for $29.99 USD/$41.95 AUD. Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions are slated for Spring 2019 (Fall 2019 in the Southern Hemisphere)

Valve Lays out 2019 Plans for Steam

Valve is starting the new years by looking back at Steam’s achievements in 2018 and sharing their goals for 2019 in a new blog post.

Last year, Steam delivered 15.39 exabytes or 15 billion gigabytes of data to customers through their private network. Valve has expanded their network capacity by 50% and plans on continuing to grow their network at the same pace. Additionally, new SQL database servers have been rolled out, and the Steam website is now HTTPS only to improve security.

On the front end, Steam has seen some changes. The most obvious was the revamped Steam Chat experience that brought the service’s features closer to parity with industry leader Discord. More subtly, new currencies have been added and more tools to help buyers find interesting and relevant games have been implemented.

After years of criticism for their terrible customer support, Valve is recommitting to improve customer support for buyers, developers, and publishers who use Steam. Additionally, more moderators have been deployed on the Steam forums to help control abusive behaviour.

2019 will see some big change, according to Valve. Steam is finally coming to China thanks to a partnership with Perfect World. This opens up a huge new market of PC gamers for developers.

The upgrades to the Steam experience is still a work in progress. The Store Discovery engine will be overhauled to provide better recommendations. The Steam Library, event system, and Steam Chat for mobiles will finally get a long overdue overhaul.

Steam is also looking to improve the gaming experience by helping players avoid potential cheaters. Counter Strike: Global Operations new Trust system will be made available to all games on Steam. Also, the Steam PC Cafe Program will be overhauled.

Dead or Alive 6 Trailers Focus on Mechanics, Nyotengu, and Phase 4

Over the weekend Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja decided to release two trailers for their upcoming fighting game Dead or Alive 6. One of these trailers happens to focus on introducing Nyotengu as well as Phase 4 with the former being available as a pre-order bonus while the latter is included as part of the Digital Deluxe Edition with both being DLC in nature.

The other trailer happens to focus more on the combat mechanics and feature side of things such as explaining various special moves that players can use and going over the attack triangle system that fans of the game should be familiar with. Currently Dead or Alive 6 is set to be released for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on March 1st.

PS PLUS Subscribers To Experience Three Days of Intense Fighting Action

Hertfordshire, 11th January 2019 – KOEI TECMO Europe and Team NINJA are excited to announce the official launch of the PlayStation®4 DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Online Beta Test. The Online Beta will be exclusive to PS PLUS subscribers through the PlayStation Store, and will be playable from the 11th January 2019 beginning at 15:00 GMT and run until the 14th January 2019 at 14:59 GMT.

The Beta will consist of Online Versus mode and will feature four iconic characters from DOA’s past, including Kasumi, Ayane, Hayate, and Hayabusa, as well as one of the most-anticipated newcomers to the roster, “The Uncrowned Street Hero” Diego. All fights will take place on the main stage of the DEAD OR ALIVE 6 tournament — the DOA COLOSSEUM – complete with exploding ring ropes.

For newcomers to the series, a “HOW TO PLAY” section has been added to the game’s official website, including both a Techniques tutorial and a Move List. In addition, an online survey will be available to gather player feedback.

To celebrate this new announcement, KOEI TECMO Europe revealed a new trailer featuring the pre-order exclusive character, Nyotengu, and digital deluxe exclusive character, Phase 4.
